Book 1 - Chapter 11

I take the dart in my hand and aim it at the tall tree not too far from where we are in the forest.
When he asked me, "Are you sure of what you've heard?" I looked at him like I didn't know what to say and grumbled.
"What do you think that means?" I'd like us to pay more attention to the decisions we make and the goals we set starting today and right now.
I take the dart again, and this time, it's my emerald eyes that give me the accuracy I need to send it to the farthest three where in the forest.
He then said, "Our plan is good, don't think we're going to fail this."
When he said that, I looked at him and nodded while keeping a serious face. Even though I'm sure Faolan wouldn't intentionally tell a lie that would hurt us in this situation, I think we need to change our way of thinking right now.
Before I go back to my workout, all I can say is "Yeah."
After waiting until I was the right age and the right time to get revenge and make them pay for what they've already done to me, I don't want to die so easily. Is this how it will end for me after I've waited for the right age and time?
You jerk, it's because of this competition! I have to save myself, but I also have to show them how far I can go with this. I can't drop out of the competition. At this point, all I can do is have faith in myself, my skills, and the plan we had and will continue to have.
I look at him, and for a long time, all he does is look at me. He moaned, put his hand in his pocket, and looked at me like he was trying to figure out what I was thinking. Even though I'm thinking about a lot of different things at once, I turn my back on him, turn my bow around so that it faces me, and keep practicing archery by myself.
"Asena, I know you're going through a lot of emotional problems right now. Even though it might not be polite for me to say so, you should just trust the plan I've come up with. Put all the mental pain you've been through behind you and just try to see the good side of things, all right? Don't think we'll die in this tournament. Instead, think about how we'll survive the next part of the game and be smarter than the game master," he told me as he grabbed my bow and arrows.
"Think about how we can survive the next part of the game, and think smarter than the game master."
"What are you doing at this very moment?” I asked him what was going on, and he gave me a sideways look while staying calm and quiet.
He looked at the trees in this part of the forest as well as the ones in the other part of the forest that I had been chasing and aiming for earlier in the conversation. In this part of the forest, he pointed the arrow at the tree closest to him and let it stay there.
"Why did you do that? " I told him to get my arrow from the nearby tree, and then I looked at him. After he put the bow down, he smiled at me and said, "That's the rule of this game, Asena."
Because of what he had said, his words made me look at him with a mix of confusion and worry in my eyes. Even so, he kept his cool throughout the whole thing.
“I'm not sure I understand what you mean."
"I don't know why you're going after that tree when it's close by and you can't even grow your power to reach it," I said, crossing my arms and putting my eyebrows together in the middle as a sign of the frustration that keeps bothering me.
He gives me a smirk and then looks in the direction that my eyes are looking. I came to this conclusion after hearing him say, "That's how I can describe how they play the game." I gave him my full attention and tried very hard to figure out every word he was going to say.
He told me, "That's how I can describe how they play the game."
"Just so you know, I have no idea what you're talking about at all. Could you try to be a little more specific this time? Don't bother me with your magic words that will make me solve a mystery, a crime, or anything else,” I told him about it, which made him laugh all the way over to me. My one looked up at him and turned his direct attention to him.
He said, "This is how things work here, Asena. I have learned a lot from watching the contest for the past four years," and I nodded my head in agreement.
He went on, "I have been watching how the contest works for the past four years, and I have learned a lot. While you were in your training, I escaped and tried to analyze and understand how that contest works and that is how blinded the people here in this tribe are. They don’t know that they are just being fooled by everyone higher than them,"
"And if I may ask, what exactly is it?” When I asked him about it, he put his hand through my hair as an answer. I thought this was odd. He is making fun of me right now, which is making me even more angry, especially because of how he is doing it.
"Asena, they are doing business in an unethical way. They will focus their efforts on the one person they saw getting close to the end goal. Thanks to this turn of events, they are now in a position to win the championship without having to go through any more pain. A lot of wolves were killed in this environment because of their potential and abilities, and this is the only thing that really matters. They are afraid of the strong wolves and the idea that they will work together in a tournament like this one. It is not clear why they will work together, though. For them to be put to death because they are adamantly against anyone else taking the positions in the palace they already have,” He said something, and I nodded in response before turning my attention to the edge of the cliff where we stood. When I thought about what I had just said, I suddenly laughed again.
I told them, "They just want to be in charge as time goes on, and they're just making this tournament so people won't think they're up to something."
I couldn't take my eyes off of him as he whispered, "Right." "They are going for the first person to come out on top of the battle.
"Just trust me," he told her.
"Don't tell them what you can do." I thought that made a lot of sense.
Because of this, the old wolf who wants to take part in the tournament did not let the game master happen. Because he is only trying to kill the powerful wolf to force them to make the ultimate sacrifice. In response to what I had just thought, I nodded and looked directly at the cliff again. I couldn't help but sigh as the wind blew harder into my face and the trees, plants, and flowers around me started to move. I just couldn't help but sigh.
When I looked at Faolan and said, "Be careful," he stared at me and then stood next to me.
He said something like, "Let's be more careful," and I nodded my head to show that I agreed with him.
I told him, "Let's train harder. I know we need to protect ourselves, but if they come after us in the future, we need to be able to fight back."
He smiled at me. "Let's train harder. I know we need to protect ourselves, but we also need to be ready for when they come after us. Train yourself even harder, because if I can't make it, you must win the battle, and we must win the tournament even if you do—without me," he said with a confident smile.
"Don't try to convince me that you won't get through this conflict. Even though we haven't gotten to the first step yet, I already know that you, Faolan, can handle anything that comes your way. Let's try to live longer, both for the sake of our tribe, which they have killed, and for the sake of our tribe, which they want.”
I told him, "Let's bring back the loss of my father's respect for our tribe and let's bring back the pride of our tribe."
He nodded at me, and I gave him a small smile. "We need to give our tribe back its honor."
"Let's work harder at training, I know that–,"
"That's what they said. We will fight together, and by tomorrow, they will know each of our names. After that, we will live our lives according to the plan we made at the beginning of this project. Let's keep putting our trust in each other.”
