Book 1 - Chapter 12

"Today is the day that you will see these three people standing next to me so that they can compete in the first-ever competition that will be held today! Will they continue to do everything they need to do to make sure they stay alive until the missions are over? Or will they only be buried as wolves who were in the competition but lost in the end?” The game master talked to the people in the audience who were ready to watch us at this moment.
The fact that I'm standing on this stage makes me happy and makes me want to learn more and become a better person. I'm not here because I want to end my life and think about everything that has happened to me so far. When I look around at everyone here, it seems like everyone is here to watch this game. I know that neither of us is popular in this tribe, which is good for both of us.
This crowd, however, is for Kix, who is looking around and is surprised by how many wolves are there to support him. This crowd is not because of Faolan and me, of course. I know that neither of us is popular in this tribe, which is good for both of us.
"Kix, you can do it! Don't die!" Someone shouted that he was going to lose his voice soon because of the pitch of his voice.
I think this will happen very soon. Someone just made a howling sound and turned into wolves at the same time. It looks like the game master is having a good time with the favorite audience member, and I think I can now tell who they will go for first. I keep looking around, but I keep coming back to the person who is running the game. Faolan is sitting next to me, so I turn my head to look at him, and he does the same.
After I told him to "be careful," he responded with a small nod to show that he heard me.
Since we joined this tribe four years ago, we haven't kept in touch with any of the other members in any specific way. We only know that we have to win if we want to find our people, who have been missing for four years, and bring them back. I have high hopes that we will be successful, and I don't think this will be the end of our story of getting even; I think it will just be the start.
“I'm not going to let this introduction take up so much of your time anymore. It's important to me that you get to know the fighters in this group. Faolan!”
After the game master said, Faolan stepped forward and looked at the crowd with his cold, emotionless face. The crowd started murmuring words that we can't quite make out. When I turned around to look at the crowd, I saw three young women crying outside the fence. They were very sad. They are looking at us with eyes that have a mix of worry and sadness in them.
While I was looking at them, I noticed that the space between my eyebrows was starting to look worried, but I couldn't take my eyes off of them at this time. I just nodded, and I didn't even look back at her. Even though I know they are worried about us, now is not the time to think about them. This time, I need to be clear about the order in which I put things on my list of priorities.
"Asena Barlowe!" you yell. After hearing what the game master had to say, I moved forward with Faolan and kept staring at the players who had gathered. I'm aware that this is happening right now, but I won't show any happiness or sadness because of it.
"Wolves, this is our very last warrior! Kix Elifo!"
After the game master said something, my eyes turned emerald, and I could hear the voices of several people hiding behind the gates. At that moment, the noise made by a large group of people woke me up. When I heard a soft giggle from an older man, I had to close my eyes and shake my head. This is what I did because of the laugh, which got my attention.
Again, I heard an old man say, "Kix Elifo, he's going to die soon." When I looked around to see where that man was put, I was able to find him a long way from the other contestants because my eyes are the color of emeralds. This information came from the royal palace.
"The King," I whispered, and I could see little smiles on his face as he looked at this area. This made Faolan look in my direction.
As he looked at this site, I could also see small smiles on his face. When I looked at him, Kix turned and looked at me. But I didn't look into his eyes because he might catch on to what I'm hearing and seeing right now if I don't look into his eyes. Faolan can't seem to take his eyes off of me, but I'm just telling him that by looking at the other people in the room.
Before we went into battle, I gave him some advice, telling him, "I'll tell you later, pay attention."
The announcer said, "The game starts in an hour, and I'm sure everyone here is excited to see it," and he was right.
The game master said with a smile, "Let's all just wait, and let the warriors take a break and think about their lives first." After taking a moment to look at us and nod, it went back to what it was saying.
"Go to the back of the tent, get ready, and die magnificently," he told us, as if he didn't even want us to enjoy every minute of life to the fullest.
I pretended he wasn't there, didn't look at him, and walked mindlessly towards the tent, which was in the back of the land that was surrounded by walls.
"Why are you putting your head around to look behind you? What exactly happened?" is the question.
As Faolan and I walked around the back of the room, he asked me about it. I looked over to see where Kix was and it looked like he could hear what we were saying. Because of this, it was hard for me to talk about it at the time. As I got closer to him, he nodded his head to say yes.
I told him, "Nothing, I'm just looking. It's interesting to see how people are watching the tournament right now."
He gave another head nod. I didn't want Kix to know anything about the information I had found before. I sat down on the couch and looked at the sweets on the other side of the never-ending platter in front of me. When I'm angry, my emerald eyes light up like the sun when it's shining brightly, and my face turns red. Putting both of my hands together makes me wonder what will happen.
What is he trying to do by making that statement?
Why would he want Kix to lose this particular competition, and why would he try to make that happen?
Does this mean that Faolan or I are not the main goal of this operation, but rather Kix?
I let out a deep sigh, and then I closed my eyes. I thought that Faolan was sitting next to me, but I was wrong, so I didn't dare open my eyes or look in that direction at first. I later found out that my first guess was wrong. I say these things because I know Kix could be anywhere else in the tent, which is a long way from where we are standing right now. I also know that this place is a long way from where we are.
"What do you know? I have reason to believe that they want to take Kix to court. I don't know if I can tell him, but I'm afraid he might already know just by looking into my eyes." I began, and then I heard a faint laugh that made me look to my side because I knew it wasn't Faolan's voice. I knew it wasn't Faolan's voice, so I was surprised to see that it wasn't his voice.
"I didn't learn it by staring into your eyes; I learned it by listening to what you said." "I didn't figure it out by looking at your eyes." And in answer to your question, he said that he looked at him with such a shocked and amazed expression. He told you this to answer your question.
“Kix…”
Just as I started, Faolan walked into the room, and what he saw completely shocked him.
“Asena?” After he was done talking, I looked at him for a few seconds before turning back to Kix and keeping the same look on my face. He said something that made me wonder what was going on.
He said, "They want to kill me."
He said this was because, "The powerful ones need to be in the throne family," not in the "bare wolves that are hiding in the forest."
When I heard this, I didn't know what was going on. "I know for sure that they are plotting to kill me," said the speaker.
I asked him what was going on, and he said, "I'm just playing with it." “Why?”
After that, he looked at Faolan, who was standing right next to me, and asked, "Why?"
Her answer to my question was, "Because I'm an Alpha."
