Book 1 - Chapter 15
I looked at him because of this, and he looked at me in a confused way. He moved in the opposite direction as fast as the arrow could point, which made me look at him.
"Hello, Asena, I am Faolan!”.
He asked, "What's going on with you?"
This made me put down the bow and arrow and look closer at his eyes. Suddenly, the whites of my eyes started to turn red, and I started with great care.
As he got closer to me, I muttered to myself, "I can see him rushing and killing someone." He was getting closer to me at the time.
"Lia, Honi, and Freki, I killed all of your sisters," I told them while pointing at her again with my bow, which was on target at that very moment. I turned to look at him when he said something that caught my attention.
He said something along the lines of, "That's exactly what I say when I see someone who looked like you earlier."
"You're not kidding, you're Faolan!" I yelled, and then I hugged him without warning, which surprised him.
He stood there for a moment, wondering if I was telling the truth, and sure enough, this person is the real Faolan. At the center of the circle ground, he asked me with a smile, "Where have you been in this forest?"
I gave him the same smile. He scratched the back of his neck and looked at me after I said, "I don't know, I just walked up and I'm lying on the ground."
When he said, "I was lying here at the center and saw what you looked like before," I nodded at him because I was interested.
"They are trying to deceive us,” I asked him this while pointing out the green marks on the trees, and he nodded in response to my question.
"Did you touch those trees? And did you put those marks on them?"
I tell him, "That's why they did it—they copied us and made us weak against each other."
I told him, "Don't hold the trees; they will know something about our lives," while keeping my attention on the environment around me.
He didn't like my suggestion that "maybe we should try both ways."
I said, "I went there, and you went here, but neither of you found the exit. Maybe we should try the two ways." He made it clear that he didn't like me by shaking his head and patting my shoulders with his hand. We just met, but I think we should make an effort to stay close to each other. I looked at him because of what he said to me.
He told me, "We didn't know what was going to happen."
I looked at the two paths we're trying to figure out right now and told him, "Yeah, you're kind of right; we won't get to the end as quickly as we should if we don't go somewhere else." He looked at me and gave me a nod.
"Yes, you're kind of right." I looked into his eyes to see if he was serious when he asked me that.
"What if you'll know the end, but to find me you'll have to come back here and get lost again?"
"You need to remember which path you're on and how to get back here to the center, and then we'll meet," I said as I moved toward him, which made him sigh at the time.
"A quick conversation with a friend from my childhood showed me that we were now working toward different goals. I really wish we could find the way out of this forest as soon as possible so we could go through the thrones and leave without dying.
I told him, "Be careful and don't get tricked," and he held me for the last time before we walked back to the directions we had followed to cross the street. I miss him and want him by my side to finish this, but we can't, and that's how we've always been able to end this because we can't.
"Let's agree to see each other again so we can figure out which way to go," I said, and he nodded.
"Let's promise to see each other again so we can figure out which way to go." I kept looking at him, and he kept looking back at me and grinning.
I said, "Of course, I'll be back safe and sound." I went across the path and immediately became more aware of what was going on around me.
I know that the head and the masters know that Faolan and I have a plan. At this point, they are just watching how Faolan and I will be able to complete the task and how we will be able to stay alive until we meet at the center.
Since the sky is getting darker, it's getting harder for me to see what's going on with just my eyes. At the moment, the only sounds coming from this area are the rustling of dead leaves and the buzzing of insects in the surrounding area.
“What's Faolan up to?” I couldn't help but mumble to myself when I heard someone move next to those huge trees. When I wake up and open my green eyes, I see a man hiding under the big tree. He has many cuts and bruises, and there is blood all over him.
I thought to myself, "He looks tired," so I tried to figure out what was going on and go talk to him. He even tried to stop breathing, but he knows that someone is nearby.
When the horrible things that had happened to him made my head hurt, I said, "Ugh."
I can see my face and Faolan's face clearly as we viciously try to kill this man. I blink my eyes open and, without giving it much thought, I find him and stare at his face. Huge bruises covered his body, and blood was dripping from his forehead as he desperately tried to get away from me.
I yelled "Kix!" at him, which made him stop, but I insisted that he look into my eyes.
I said something like, "If you look into my eyes, you can see that it's me, the real Asena."
This made him let down his guard, sigh heavily, and turn his gaze away from me.
I thought about it a little bit because he said, "I thought I killed you, but luckily it wasn't you."
The way the game started makes me wonder why the hell they wanted us to kill each other?
