Chapter 10 Love And Gesture

Ten years ago,
The situation between Yumi and Luke is still awkward. After all, Yumi notices that Luke is very kind to her and sometimes, he invites her to study. Due to lack of financial aspects, Yumi can no longer study in college, while Luke is already a college student. Luke is just in his first year as a communication arts student at a prestigious university in the country.
"How's your study, Sir Luke?" Yumi asked if she had a chance to talk to her boss again. Luke glanced at her and smiled very sweetly.
"I have difficulty with the subject," he admitted. "And could you please stop calling me sir?" He also laughed after his words.
"Because of what you said, I'm afraid to go to college," Yumi commented, bowing her head. "That's how I'm used to addressing you. I don't want Sir Dante to chastise me for calling you by your first name."
"Don't mind him. His impression doesn't matter to me," Luke grinned and glanced at Yumi.
"By the way, why don't you just let me read you a specific book so you can have an idea in case you go to college, let me, and when I get enough money, I'll just pay for your college costs at the university I'm attending," Luke sincerely proposed.
Yumi's forehead furrowed quickly. "Why would you do that? Are you already a financial institution by doing that?"
"Of course, there's nothing I can't do for my loved one," Luke reasoned. Only now did he once again have the courage to feel and somehow, bluntly confess to the girl who played a big part in his life. He's so in love with Yumi. If she had not existed in his life, he might have died when he was younger.
"Do you love me? Are you kidding, Sir Luke?" Yumi asked explicitly to hide the thrill she was feeling because of the sneer from Luke.
"Ever since you became my bodyguard, I know in myself that you are the only one I will love Yumi," Luke confessed. Although he is afraid of rejection, he still strongly believes that Yumi will be able to reciprocate his love in the end.
Yumi gulped and beamed for a while. She knew Luke wasn't joking at the moment but why did he choose her?
"Just eat a snack, it's just hunger." Instead of continuing the beautiful smile, she thought of suggesting other things to Luke.

Yumi tried to appear at ease in front of Luke. She smiled as she welcomed him. Yumi's nonsensical gestures irritated Luke right away.
"Breakfast is ready," she said.
He turned around for a moment. "I don't eat breakfast, unless Mother Lingling cooks it."
Yumi simply scratched her brow. "However, the breakfast I prepared was just as delicious as hers. Nothing has changed in my cooking style. Only our friendship has changed. Are you aware that not all people can afford to have breakfast everyday?"
"I didn't ask for it," Luke insisted, his face icy as he cast a lethal glare at Yumi. He noticed she was quickly irritating, which he preferred.
"All right," Yumi admitted, "I'll just eat it or feed it to the dog."
"We don't have a dog," Luke returned before heading to the garden. Somehow he felt guilty for what he did to Yumi. But for him, it was better that they just be away from each other. He gets even more annoyed upon hearing her voice.
"Luke, do you still remember the times when you were still studying at university. Whenever you review, you always ask me to make coffee and I always accompany you to study. So here, eat breakfast."
"I will never forget all that stuff. You used to lure me with your kind gestures back then. Because you are an opportunist," Luke said. He also ignored the cup of coffee that was placed on the table.
"Kind gestures? It's called love language," Yumi corrected and pulled her long hair. She deliberately exposed his shoulder to the young man because she was wearing a shirt on top.
Luke finally realized how much Yumi had changed. She used to only wear a T-shirt and was always hesitant to wear a dress or anything revealing. He can claim that the job she took changed her attitude.
"Did you find me appealing? Why don't you simply stare at me? Yumi was inspired as she sipped the coffee she had made for herself.
"Did the club really teach you to be that confident?"
"Yes. And madam teaches us more than confidence." A smile played on Yumi's lips again and Luke also shot an evil look towards her. "Men I flirted with were unlucky, because they preceded you. They still pay to be with me, while you, I can give anything for free. "
Luke clenched his jaws while looking at her. "You're trying so hard to provoke me."
"Why do I have to be trying hard? It's obvious from the way you look that even if I don't do anything, you are immediately provoked. What can you do, Luke? Now, can you be a manipulator because you have mental health issues?" Yumi asked boldly as she looked up.
"You're not the type of woman to waste time," Luke clarified. "By the way, don't repeat what you did last night."
"Huh?" Yumi asked in surprise as her eyes widened.
"What you did last night was too sketchy for me. It's what a thief does to rob the house, "Luke insisted.
Yumi replied with a forced smile. "It's good that the lampshade I'm holding didn't break your head."
"It simply came to our notice then. Anyway, eat there too." Not even a smile appeared on Luke's lips. He noticed that Yumi looks uncomfortable in front of him even though she's trying to act straightforward.
"Finished."
"Alright. I will go out first and get some air," said Luke. He was also correct that his phone rang and someone called him, an unknown caller.
"Your brain is full of air, you don't have to breathe anymore," Yumi whispered to herself and decided to follow Luke as he came out.
