Chapter 11 Pretentious

"Hello? What is this person's name?" Luke forced himself to relax while speaking with the unknown caller.
"I pose a threat. Don't mess with me," the caller said with his deep and terrifying voice.
"I recognize you. Just don't mess with me too. I can trace you anytime." Luke faked a laugh and then hung up the phone. He took a nap soundly. This is the first time he has been summoned with a threatening melody. He had an idea who it was, perhaps one of those he had met as a result of his efforts to reform Fiery Corp. He knew, under the guise of his speech, that hundreds of threats or intimidation would follow immediately, but he had already planned for this.
Luke paused for a moment before proceeding to the kitchen. If he needs to take additional precautions to ensure his safety, he must act quickly. He continues to catch up with Yumi, who is still cooking in the kitchen.
"I've felt compelled, I'm hungry," Luke said as he grabbed a plate and utensils. Yumi's reaction was elevated.
"I wish I could eat with you; I'm glad you changed your mind," Yumi laughed.
"Come eat with me," Luke invited, his mouth full of food. Yumi's cooking is superior to Mother Lingling's in terms of taste. Yumi's ability to cook had never occurred to him. Because he recalls Yumi being uninterested in cooking at the time. When she was serving in the mansion, she preferred to clean and plant trees and shrubs in the yard.
"When you don't have a clientele, do you just cook as a hobby?" Luke inquired. He intended to make subtle insults.
Yumi quickly nodded. "It's not enough for us to be great in bed. There are many rich people who are tempted by the women in the club, and we are already training to be proficient in house chores because what if there is a rich single who will like us and buy a house for us? When this occurs, we must reward them with good manners and demonstrate that we can do more than keep them satisfied. Eh, just in case, I'm not planning on marrying afterwards, so I became a writer. Didn't you even reject my manuscript?"
"It's better just to be a chef. You shouldn't write anymore," Luke sighed.
"I have read your work. It was good until that point. Didn't you send your work to Fiery solely to keep up with your boyfriend Lawrence?"
Luke paused in his eating and flashed Yumi a serious look.
"Lawrence? I'm not familiar with him. The truth is, you're the one I'd like to follow there. Is Sir Lawrence angry with me because you believe I know him and have a connection with him so you can choose my story?" Yumi became nervous at this point.
"Yeah, you're right," Luke sarcastically grinned.
"I promise I'm not going to follow Lawrence—"
"In any case, I'm not interested." And if you don't know Lawrence, I'll send him back to the office."
"Huh? You mean you dismissed Sir Lawrence because you assumed we were related? Yumi's eyes welled up with tears. She was disgusted because she knew Luke had gone too far with his power. It never occurred to him that it would be that way in a few years.
Luke nodded. "Because I hate people who use their position for their own benefit. I thought Lawrence was like that. "
"How about you? You did what you wanted seamlessly! You fired the person who did nothing wrong!" Yumi growled, still unsatisfied, and splattered cold water on Luke.
He didn't say anything and just stood there watching her cry.
Yumi screamed, "You are the most disgusting person in the world! Aside from insulting my character, I never thought that a defenseless person would feel sorry for you!" She can curse him all she wants, but she'll never be sorry.

"I will never return to the mansion. I'm sorry, Mother Lingling," Yumi said over the phone to Mother Lingling. She said that not so even though she didn't want to see Luke any more though, but because she needed to persuade Mother Lingling that they'd never get along with the young man. That was also in the plan.
"How come, Yumi? Did Luke do anything wrong? Did he say something that irked you? On the other end of the line, Mother Lingling was concerned.
"I don't think you could live with someone like him for very long." Yumi sobbed, taking a deep breath. Luke's misunderstanding had hurt her deeply. She appears to him to be a dirty woman, despite the fact that she has never been sexually exploited.
"Perhaps you just don't get him. Luke was simply arrogant. You're aware of this fact, aren't you? He has been through a lot, and he is still on medicines for his disorder. But I know he simply can not ignore your connection."
"But is that right? How bad would his behavior be just because of his disorder? Isn't that unfair? I will call you later."
Yumi ended the call and after that, she was also about to meet Lawrence. She needs to talk to him personally and clarify the misunderstandings between them. Yumi calmed herself first before settling in front of the mirror. She smiled, realizing she had done an excellent job on the phone. She could perform better in front of her aunt.
She wiped her tears away and reapplied her makeup slowly.
"I, as well, need to keep up with you, Lawrence. I'm sorry you're about to become involved in this war sooner or later," she exclaimed, her gaze fixed on the mirror. Later on, Yumi tried to browse her laptop to look for information regarding Lawrence. She saw other information, but it was only brief articles about Lawrence's involvement outside the company that had nothing to do with his managerial position at Fiery Corp.
Yumi finally gathered some personal information about his life after a few more minutes. Lawrence has been with Fiery Corp for more than a decade. Yumi was impressed because such a devoted employee is uncommon these days. She came to the conclusion that Lawrence needed a job and couldn't resign, and he certainly knew a lot about the company's policies.
