Chapter 2 The Trauma

Employees at Fiery Corp can't focus on their tasks because of the sudden announcement that Luke will be visiting today. According to the source of rumors throughout the building, Luke is the son of real CEO Nelia Laurel. Their family history is complicated so it is inevitable to talk about them.
"He's here! I swear he's here!"
Everyone returned to their desks when Lawrence's voice echoed in the hallway. He was referring only to Luke who is now in the Fiery Corp building. Luke might sit out there and simply watch what they are doing.
Lawrence signs that Luke is in the office when he sees a sticky note on the table. But the people at Fiery and even Lawrence have no idea of Luke's face. He doesn't even show up at all. His other co-workers could only talk to Luke on the phone and there was also an elevator in the building that was just for Luke. They had no idea if he's antisocial or just being too entitled not to interact with other people. Others assume that this new boss may be just a mysterious type.
After informing everyone of Luke's possible arrival, Lawrence also warned his colleagues to work hard because Luke might be just around or watching the CCTV camera.
Lawrence breathed heavily as he opened the door of his office. He wasn't mistaken, Luke was there, wearing his favorite black jacket and covering his face with a cap and face mask.
"Sir, you're here. Hello, "Lawrence said. Luke immediately confronted him and still did not remove his cap and mask.
"You didn't do what I said the other day," Luke sighed.
"I wasn't able to do it because the song was already released," Lawrence explained as Luke grinned again. He was not convinced by his answer.
"When I tell you to do it, you should do it."
"Even bring shame to the company? That song was also used as an official track, after Rachiela also signed a contract," Lawrence said, referring to the singer whom Luke hated, not because of her behavior but because of her voice.
Rachiela's voice is excellent, but Luke was critical. Luke also looked at Rachiela's profile and discovered that, despite her popularity in the country, she still receives a lot of criticism due to her troublesome attitude. Rachiela is merely an entitled artist who is insensitive when she expresses her thoughts. Luke does not approve of such behavior. An artist with a bad attitude, in his opinion, is hurting the company.
"Lawrence, I'm not making this up. Do it because you will be replaced in this company if you do not." Luke's voice was menacing.
"Get out of my sight," Luke said, and his interlocutor agreed.
Lawrence exited with a scowl on his face. Luke glanced out the window, taking in the view of the skyscraper. Looking down at the building is one of his coping mechanisms for dealing with his overwhelming dread or anxiety. But as he blinked, he imagined himself being pushed as he peered out the office window.
His heart was throbbing irregularly as a result of his unexpected imagination, he shook his head. He has not been able to overcome the source of his dread until now.
It was eighteen years ago...
Luke was neglected by an orphanage and adopted by a wealthy family. Luke is in the process of healing as a result of his trauma. He is the son of a human trafficker and is on the verge of being sold to foreign nationals who exploit people anywhere in the world.
He was saved, but he was close to death. He was then placed in an orphanage. He was also temporarily blind. According to the psychologist, no one has approached Luke yet. He was also hearing voices that weren't real, and it was often incredibly hard for him to distinguish reality from hallucination.
After becoming ill, he was fortunately adopted by a wealthy childless couple.
"Mother Lingling, can I come here first?"
Mother Lingling looked around to find the source of the voice, her niece Mayumi or Yumi was behind the door.
"My God, this kid! My boss will be angry when she sees you here again!" Instead of being happy, Mother Lingling's opening was an annoyance.
Yumi immediately hugged and cried in front of her aunt whom she likes to address as 'mother'.
"Mother Lingling, dad hit me again, I don't want to go back to our house."
"Yumi, if only I could really take you out there, I will definitely take you with me. You know that I just live here and am still dependent on the family of Laurel. Once I lose my job, I don't have a place to live either," said Mother Lingling sympathetically and stroked her niece's hair.
"Why don't I just apply as an assistant here?" Yumi's question while sobbing.
"You're still young and besides, I'll just support you in your studies huh? Don't you want to be a writer so that you can write good stories that you read in books, right? Then don't be like me who is just a helper." The lady's smile widened, in order to make her niece feel at ease.
Yumi nodded. "Yes, of course. But, your job is an outstanding job, you are not just a helper. It's good that you have a job, while my father is jobless and still has the guts to hurt me."
"Oh, Yumi, you know how much I adore you; by the way, if my boss isn't here, you can go upstairs to the library; I'll head there later this afternoon," Mother Lingling said, but Yumi's cheeky grin increased. The youngster's heart was overjoyed.
Yumi immediately went to the third floor of the mansion and went straight to the library. In the few hours of her reading she suddenly felt drowsy. So she thought of going back to the kitchen where Mother Lingling was busy. Helping her do the chores could ease her drowsy feeling..
But she was startled when she heard a loud scream, it seemed to come from a room because it was still echoing.
"Don't!" repeated the term coming out of the boy's mouth. Yumi searched for that voice. She also felt a little scared because as far as she knew, his Mother Lingling's employers had no children.
"What if they confine someone here?" She shuddered as she opened the doors of so many rooms on the floor where she was. As soon as he opened the blue door, the boy with the bruise on his face was exposed to her sight. He was the young boy who still kept screaming.
Luke was even more horrified when he heard the squeak of the door. That's it, someone opened and entered his room. He was afraid that anyone who came in might hurt him so she kept quiet.
"Hello..."
He heard the girl's voice. This time, Luke knew the voice was not imaginary. It was strange and more realistic than any other voice he often heard.
"Are you going to hurt me too?" Luke's tears began to flow. He could not see around because of blindness so he tilted his head everywhere to face the person he was talking to.
Yumi was surprised. She assumed that the boy could not see her in the room. She wanted to confirm if her suspicion was correct.
Sheslowly approached him and she smiled on purpose when she realized that the boy was also cute.
"Here I am," Yumi said and turned to Luke who still couldn't look in the direction he was.
"Who are you?" Luke asked in a whisper.
"I'm—"
Yumi couldn't continue what she was going to say because Mother Lingling pulled her out the door.
"Where are you?" Luke looked around again but was disappointed when he could no longer hear a voice.
Silence prevailed again in the room. Luke, on the other hand, realized that the fantasies playing in his brain were gone again.
'Am I just imagining that? Or did I really talk to someone earlier?'
