Well, it’s not exactly a breakup since we were not officially together but he doesn’t have to know that I lied to him about Phoenix being my boyfriend last time. “Yes.” “Did he hurt you?” He asked. I could sense his tone changing into anger. “Tell me so that I could kill that guy. I swear, I warned him that-“ “I’m fine, Eion,” I said, stopping him from bursting out. It’s really hard when he gets angry. He literally explodes. And I don’t want trouble. It’s partly my fault. “It’s just…things changed.” I continued. He sighed. “I see…Grandpa died and I feel bad for having a wedding.. and now you are not going to come?” He asked. Now I feel guilty. “Fine. I will come, stop making me guilty.” He sighed in relief at that and bid his goodbyes before hanging up. Since tomorrow is the wedding and the ride to Hudson’s villa, where the wedding will be held, would be six hours from here, I instantly informed Theon that I can’t go to work this day, which he agreed to. “Glad you arrived, cuz,” Eion said, greeting me at the entrance. I arrived just in time for dinner and stayed at one of the guestrooms. We had dinner and I slept early to get some beauty rest. And when morning came, I woke up early to prepare for the wedding. Eion came here earlier, complaining about how he hates the tradition of not seeing his fiance before their wedding. He looked very anxious and I just calmed him down and he returned to his room. I was wearing a beautiful blue dress that hugged my waist. Navy blue was the theme of the wedding after all. I also bought a wedding gift for my cousin. I curled my hair and let it down. I put on a little makeup and sprayed perfume. I got my shades and left for the wedding. When I arrived at the beautiful beach wedding, there were already some people seated at the chairs. The atmosphere was very vibrant and people were laughing and talking with each other. Since the bride and groom were still not here, the wedding hadn't started yet. I tried to mingle with the others but decided not to. After a few minutes, I settled down on my assigned seat as the ceremony started. I saw Eion now waiting at the altar. I smiled at him and he gave me a look and I chuckled at his tensed expression. He really looks nervous now. Almost like he had some constipation. I turned my phone on and decided to capture his face right now. I’ll send it later to him and tease him about it. Just then, the slow song “Can’t help falling in love with you” was being played by the orchestra. The sound had a very slow and romantic rhythm and the beautiful bride finally appeared. Everyone stood up as Snow came walking down the aisle with her mother and Uncle Adam by her side. I gazed at her. She really looked beautiful in that white dress. I glanced at my cousin’s reaction and saw him almost tearing up at the sight. I sighed, love really changes a person. My cousin was a very anti-romantic, snobby, and arrogant person, but seeing him now completely whipped to Snow, my heart warmed at them. So this is love. It makes me wonder what’s the feeling of getting married. Knowing that you’ll get tired to your husband for the rest of your life. I couldn’t even imagine. It sounds complicated. I watched as everything unfolds in front of my eyes. It was already in vows and I did and finally, the kissing part. Everyone cheered for the newly wedded couple. I spotted Hannah, Emma, and Ember from afar and decided to join them for the reception. I saw how big Hannah’s stomach is now. Really, it amazes me. She’s now seven months pregnant. We took a seat at our tables and their boyfriends approached us. "Hey girls." Leroy greeted, kissing his wife Hannah in the cheeks. Luke and Dax soon appeared. "Where's Phoenix?" Asked Emma, sensing me alone. "Probably late," Dax replied. My breath hitched at the mention of his name. They didn’t know what happened to us. Should I act like Phoenix and I are okay? Dax started to deliver his speech to the groom and Emma also gave her speech to the bride. The food was now served. "Sorry guys, I'm late." I turned to see who it was and there he was. Phoenix. Our eyes met and I instantly looked away. "Dude, where you were?” Dax asked, “You missed a lot! Eion cried earlier!” He chuckled at that, and he greeted everyone except me. Chatter soon started as they all caught up with each other. I sipped on the glass of wine and Luke turned to me. "You, how are you, Sereia?" He asked. I sent him a smile, "I'm doing great. How about you?" “When are you going to get married to Ember too?” “Well, soon.” He chuckled. “How about you and Phoenix? When are you two going to get married?” I paused at that. Everyone at the table seemed to hear that, including Phoenix who stopped and stared at me, waiting for my reply. I just laughed and sipped on the glass of wine. Luke noticed the sudden change in atmosphere as he changed the topic. They continued chatting while I was playing on the phone, not wanting to talk with them now. Emma poked at me to gain my attention, “Come on, let’s take some pictures. Stop playing games.” She said, pointing at Phoenix who was holding a camera in front of us. “Say cheese!” Leroy yelled and I forced myself to smile as Phoenix pressed the camera and it flashed on us. When everything was settled, the vibrant atmosphere changed and the background song turned into a slow rhythm. Everyone who had partners stood up and danced. It felt like a prom. And I was left alone at the table. With Phoenix. He noticed me staring so he cleared his throat, “Hey…” “Hey.” His lips curved into a smile, “How are you?” “I’m great,” I answered, feeling a bit awkward with him. Silence fell and I texted the only person I have in mind. “Are you busy?” -Sereia It didn’t take a few seconds for my phone to ring. I glanced at it and saw Theon’s name in the caller ID. Phoenix tensed at that, and I stood up and excused myself. I walked away from the table and got to somewhere quiet as the background song was very loud. "Hey, I'm not busy. Why'd you ask?" I heard his voice saying from the other line. "Oh, you don’t have to call me. I’m sorry if I bothered you.” I said, crossing my arms “You were never a bother to me, Sereia.” I could sense him smiling. “I’m glad you even texted me. Is there something wrong?” “It’s just…boring here," I admitted. "You want me to pick you up?" He asked, and I shook my head. "Oh, no Theon. You don’t have to. It’s a six-hour ride here!” I exclaimed in panic. I heard him laughing. “Too late. Your cousin had also invited me to the wedding. I’m already on my way there.”
