"I got a job for you today so you could become useful in life", Mr Okechukwu said to his son reluctantly. They were in the living room. Wisdom sat on a wooden stool while his Dad laid on the couch. They were facing each other. "What job is that Daddy?", Wisdom got excited. "Well...", he sat up, "You're going to be a Secret Agent, working for the police force." "Wisdom got up in happiness. He hunkered down low to be at the same level as his Dad. "Secret Agent? Is there anything better?!" Mum joined them, sitting beside Dad and hugging him by the side. "You love the job?", she asked with a faint smile. "Yes!", Wisdom replied with gusto, sitting back down. "So when will I start?" "Tomorrow! Get your CV ready", Dad replied, "And please! Remember to behave yourself. Don't want you disgracing me", he pleaded. His wife bumped him at the shoulder with her arm, cautioning him for what he said. "Our son won't fail us...I know that very well", she smiled at Wisdom. "You're absolutely right Mum!", Wisdom winked at her. "Whether she's left or right, just remember to behave yourself", Mr Okechukwu instructed. "Okay Dad! I promise!", Wisdom threw away a salute. * * * Ifeanyi went to his bedroom and knelt by his bed to pray to God. He began;"Tomorrow's another important day for me Lord. I know I've been called foolish a couple of times so Lord, I'm asking you to guide me tomorrow." "While I prepare eagerly for UTME next year, help me be dedicated and successful in this job." As he kept on praying, his Mum walked past his room. The door was widely open. Uncertain by what she saw, she stepped backwards and got amazed seeing her son praying. "I know God's going to answer your prayers Wisdom", she shook her head and giggled. She then walked away to go do something else. Wisdom finished his prayer and made the sign of the cross. He got up, closed the door and went to bed. * * * By 8am the next day, Wisdom was already in the living room with his file containing his CV and job application letter. He was dressed in a colourful T-shirt and a black short. He sat on the longest coach, waiting for his Dad to come out. "Ifeanyi! Are you ready?", his Mum questioned as she was about entering the parlour with her husband. They were both taken aback on seeing their son's absurd dressing. He stood up and greeted both of them, bowing to each. "Good morning Mum! Good morning Dad!" "What are you wearing?", Mr Okechukwu muttered with a frown. "I'm wearing clothes for interview", he answered, expressing confusion at the question. "Before I get mad at you, remove these nonsense you call clothes and wear something formal my friend!", Dad yelled at him. "Why are you wearing this Ifeanyi? You don't know how to dress for an interview?", Mum asked him, way calmer than Dad, but was really disappointed. "But I don't have formal clothes Mum", he replied desperately. "Let me go get you one of your Dad's suits", Mum hurriedly left the parlour. Dad glimpsed at him with a frown and thrust past him, sitting on the couch perpendicular to his. "My son won't kill me before my time", he looked upwards, carrying his hands up and then made the sign of the cross. "Take this one", Mum dashed into the parlour with a brown suit and handed it over to Ifeanyi. "This is really going to be big on me", he complained, squeezing his face at the sight of the suit. "You've got no choice. You'll have to wear it. It's better than what you're wearing", Mr Okechukwu replied vaguely. "Go! Go! Go! Go!", his wife tried hastening her son up. He collected the suit and ran to his room to change up. She watched him go. "Let's see how it will look good on him", she turned to her husband who pretended not to care, looking at another direction. * * * Careen and Wisdom were in a car parked in front of a boutique. Careen was the driver. She brought out her palmtop and showed to Wisdom the man they were to arrest. "James Iheanacho...35, he sells ornaments mostly made of gold and diamond in a store, J-Ornaments. So far, I can't find a trace of criminal record in his database", she said to him. "So what's the complaint against him?", he questioned, feeling curious to know. "We were told he sells fakes jewelleries to people. As Secret Agents, we need to find out if he's guilty or not while under disguise", she replied. She opened the glove compartment and kept her palmtop in there. "So how are we going to start our investigation?", he questioned. "We'll go under cover, that's why we're at this boutique", she answered, then noticing his big suit once more, "Mostly because of what you're wearing", she looked at it strangely. "But I'm not with my debit card", he shrugged off his shoulders. "Bills on me...at least let me get you some few outfits", she smirked at him. "You've got the money?", Wisdom got surprised. "Of course! I'm an affiliate marketer", she nodded her head, showing certainty. "Woah", he scratched his head, "Why am I not an affiliate marketer?", he asked himself. "Let's get to work", she got out of the car and he followed her. "I'm following your footsteps", he smiled. "Don't take it literally", she kept a straight face, "It means do as I do." "Learnt two things today already...this job is going great", he replied enthusiastically. Careen groaned with disappointment. She opened the door and both of them went into the shop. Careen saw the owner attending to a customer. "Let's go see him. Over there!", she pointed for Wisdom to see. As they were approaching him, he saw them and quickly called on an employee to take over from him. He went to see his friend. He opened his arms wide and both of them embraced each other. "What a pleasant surprise Careen!", he smiled at her. "Oh your name's Careen?", Wisdom asked rhetorically. The boutique owner squeezed his face in confusion. "Don't you guys know each other?", he asked them. "He began work today so we don't really know each other well", Careen replied. "My name's Wisdom", he introduced himself. "Good to meet you Wisdom", the boutique owner shook hands with him, "My name's Etim and I own this place." "A young man like you owning this place? You're my role model already man", Wisdom grinned. Etim smiled back at him. "So you guys came to go under cover right?", he asked Careen. "Yes! But I want to a buy a couple of outfits for this guy, can't stand this oversized suit", she gazed at Wisdom from head to toe. "Well! I think you're right", Etim replied, startled by what he saw. "But you've come to the right place bro. Feel at home", he patted on Wisdom's shoulder, smiling faintly at him
