Chapter 42
"My son!" Countess Gringe exclaimed as soon as she arrived here with the other parents.
She cupped her son's face and check if there was any injury on the Young Lord.
Brother Maxlein and I were just standing on the side while the other children were being attended by their parents, emotionless while watching the parents and children's question and answer.
Our father and brothers were still not here.
"What happened dear?" one of the parents asked her child but the child only started crying out loud instead of answering her mother. I scoffed. They just realized now what they did to Lein, they were afraid of their own doing that they could not even tell their parents.
One of the mothers threw her head on our way and her gaze changed but before she could throw a word, Dad, my brothers, the Viscount and Viscountess of Ystradgynlais, Duke Gabriela and the other Knights of the house arrived at the same time.
"Maxine." Dad muttered firmly that everyone could hear. The crowd froze and held their breath as father and my brothers walked towards Brother Lein and I.
The Viscount cleared his throat. "What happened here?" he asked curiously raising his brow.
The Viscountess opened her fan as she covered the half of her face while watching everyone -or should I say eyeing?
We were still in the garden since Gringe the brat cowardly called his mother.
I smirked looking at him when he met my gaze but he retreated his gaze from me, trembling.
He did cried like the girls and he also called for help.
How coward.
"Are you ok Lein? Maxine?" Brother Amo asked with a worried smile painted on his face. He even placed his hand on my head and tapped it. I shut my eyes close when he did that.
"Those brats angered me." Brother Maxlein said trembling, unable to report them over completely. Looks like his anger lessened since few were watching us.
Maxwell and Maxillary stood by my sides and held my hands.
"What did they do to you, Princess?" Maxillary asked. For a moment, I thought he was wearing glasses because of what he sounded.
"Do you want me to dispose them for you?" Maxwell whispered on my ear so I immediately glared at him.
I clearly understand their point but physical was what I was avoiding.
"Ugh. Fine. Fine." he pouted.
"Let's move in the sitting room to deal this issue, dear guests, before the other starts coming here." the Viscount invited us and led the way.
I even saw how the parents of the children glared at us before turning theirbacks and following the couple who owns the territory. They could not show their outward dislike towards us because Dad was just only beside us.
"What happened?" Viscount asked calmly with a suspicious voice. I even saw him glanced at me for a second.
Was he suspecting me that I initiated the fight or perhaps, becuase of me?
Right. Everyone knew me as a cold child who suddenly became warm after seeing me smiling at the restaurant.
Indeed suspisious.
But it was really the children's parents who were at fault here.
"That Viscount is expecting you to be the one who started it. Do I need to strangle his neck now?" Brother Amo leaned in to us three and whispered from my back.
The hair on my nape suddenly rose up because of him. Moreover, whem I saw that he still had a smile on his face.
Everyone who would hear his words while seeing his smiling face would think that he was a psychopath.
Jealous and envy were the source of the children's whims.
"Kidding." he took it back eventhough he look like he would really do what he said.
All I did was to gulped in no time because of his frightening kind face.
"That two kids started it! I heard my son screamed!" the Countess of Gringe quickly answered the Viscount's curiousity. The other woman seconded that made me lost any of my soft touch in the face.
If it not for them, their children would not be like that. Nobles always use their children to attain what they want. They were using their child as a stepping stone to what they want.
When I looked at Dad, he was just cold and expressionless as always.
"Whoa, whoa! Easy Countesses!"
If they did not used their children to approach us, this would not happen. Our image was improving so they were using their children to be close with us and making us the models for their children but that only brought pressure to them.
It lead the children to envy and jealous towards us that would turn to hate that they would want us to die so their parents would not compare them to us anymore.
Duke Gabriela who had an easy going personality tried to calm the wives -that Daddy should be the one doing it- as if they want to attack Brother Maxlein.
Oh well, looks like Duke Gabriela was not here just for naught.
I felt Maxwell and Maxillary tightened their grip on my hands a little, maybe comforting me in a way. I only smiled at them. I was touched that they were worried about me.
The women calmed down and I even heard them scoffed, crossing their arms on their chests.
They calmed down instantly when Duke Gabriela stopped them but if I did not know better, I would not notice that the women blushed after looking at them. Maybe, already fantasizing that Duke Gabriela had finally talked to them.
Their husbands was irritated of Duke Gabriela but could not do anything and only curse him inside their minds.
"Why do not we ask the people involve instead, do you not think?" Duke Gabriela friendly suggested and spread his arms to give way to us children and servants present in the fight to answer.
"So, what really happened back then?" he calmly asked smiling to convince us to confess.
I looked at the the persons who were involved coldly. They all diverted their eyes on somewhere and could not bear to look at us. They even held onto whoever beside them because of fright.
They refused to answer because of guilt, huh?
Thought so, they were afraid that once they say something about what Brother Lein did to Gringe House’s Young Master, they know that we would also bring up what they did to us first which was really insane and ridiculous.
They dared to tie him up and ridiculed my position in the House.
In short, they would just bring their own doom. I did not know if their parents would still want to keep them after knowing what their children did to two of the Ducal House’s members.
They might be thrown out of the house or be disowned or their happy days would end.
The grown ups fell confused to the children’s behaviors. Of course, Dad was excluded whom completely aware and know about his sons and daughter.
“Tristan! Tell us what they did to you!” Countess Gringe convinced his son who remained silent. He even shook her son but to no use. Her husband tried to stop and calm her from shaking his own son to confess but Countess Gringe gave a raging stare to his son who did not want to answer.
“That kid pushed me.” I opened my mouth when I was sure now that none of them would talk what really happened in the garden. Everyone inside their room looked at me.
“Huh?” I heard Lein asked in surprise and was about to say something but chose to shut his mouth instead. He maybe realized what was I doing.
I thought he would not know my intentions that fast. That was a surprise. Hmm.
Game? Was what they did to my elder brother just a game for them?
Well then, I am ready to play with them if they would be like that.
What I told them was only a white lie.
After the so-called-kid-Tristan shouted cowardly, I immediately hit Lein and to his surprise on what I did to him, he dropped the boy to the ground.
He looked at me like a scolded puppy but I did not mind him and slacked on the ground like I was pushed by someone before anyone arrived at the scene.
That was what they saw. They were surprised, mostly Lein and the frightened face of the Gringe kid.
“Tristan! Is that true?!” the Count asked, could not believe that their son did it, contrary to what they had taught him to do.
Tristan did not answered him and remained silent as he diverted his gaze from his father.
“Tell us more, why did he pushed you?” Duke Gabriela followed up before anything happens to the two of them.Download Novelah App
