Chapter 41: Mr. Owen, the new client
Stephanie sat on the chair in front of Sebastian’s desk, she had a file on her hand, and she was busy going through its content. Sebastian on the other hand was busy gazing at her. He replayed all the memories he had with her in New York City, and he couldn’t wait to create more. “How is Princess?” He asked out of nowhere, and Stephanie raised her head. She looked at him and noticed how he had been staring at her. “Princess is fine. Always fine.” She glued her eyes to the file again, and Sebastian nodded. “I can’t wait to see her again. I miss her.” Stephanie looked up and heaved a sigh. She raised the file and shook it. “So you have new clients now?” She asked, and he nodded. “We have about five active ones. There will be a meeting soon, and I think we will get a new client. Mr. Coleman, one of our clients, wants to introduce a new partner this morning. He needs some cloth designs for his partner,” Sebastian informed her. “And this meeting is to start in ten minutes?!” Her eyes popped open, and she showed him the file in her hand. “Yes. Why are you panicking?” He furrowed his brows when he noticed how nervous she was. “Why won’t I be? It’s my first official meeting in your company. I don’t know what I’ll say, how I’ll react, how…” “Stephanie, calm down, okay? It’s not something you haven’t done before. I’ll do most of the talking. You will have to talk only when necessary,” He responded, and she heaved a very loud sigh. “Okay. But will the meeting be done in this office?” She asked, and he bounced his head. She sprang to her feet and hurried to the door. She looked around the office slowly, and Sebastian knitted his brows. “Stephanie?” He called, and she shook her head. “Wait. They can’t use this office. What if there were more than two? Where would they sit? There are only two chairs. They are not supposed to sit on the couch. Don’t you have a conference room?” She asked, and he slowly bounced his head. “We’ll use the conference room then. But you didn’t have to walk to the door.” He chuckled, and she rolled her eyes. “Don’t laugh at me, okay? I’m just trying to think calmly.” *** Stephanie and Sebastian sat in the conference room and waited for the arrival of the clients. Stephanie kept her eyes glued to the documents in front of her, while Sebastian couldn’t stop scaring at her. “Why are you so cute?” He asked out of nowhere, and she shut her eyes. “Seriously, Sebastian, I’m trying to study here. I don’t want to disgrace myself.” She kept her eyes on the documents as she spoke. Soon, the door to the conference room opened, and they both looked up. The first man came in, and Stephanie hurriedly stood up. Sebastian did the same thing as the man approached them. “Good day, Mr. Sebastian.” He greeted him, and they shook hands. “Good day, Mr. Coleman ,” Sebastian responded. Mr. Coleman also stretched his hand to Stephanie too, and they shook hands. “Good day, Mr. Coleman,” She responded with a bright smile. “Good day.” He responded, and Sebastian offered him a chair opposite where they were. They looked up to see the other person that followed behind him. Stephanie’s jaw slacked immediately she saw Owen walk in too. She almost called his name in awe, but composed herself. She lowered her head and kept her hands folded. ‘What the f**k is he doing here? Is he the new partner? God! I’ll have to start working with him!’ Stephanie’s head was overwhelmed with thoughts. “This is my partner I told you about. This is Mr. Owen. Mr. Owen, this is Mr. Sebastian,” Mr. Coleman said. ‘The same Owen?’ Sebastian raised his brows and looked at Stephanie. He saw the odd expression on her face and how she kept her head bowed. Owen was also looking at her and this gave him the answer to his questions. It was the same Owen. “Good day, Mr. Sebastian. I’m looking forward to doing business with you.” Owen stretched his hand towards Sebastian, and Sebastian looked at his hand. He looked at Stephanie again and saw that she still kept her head bowed. “Same here, Mr. Owen.” He reluctantly shook Owen’s hand. Owen withdrew his hand and stretched it to Stephanie. “Hi, Stephanie,” He greeted, and she raised her head. “Hi, Mr. Owen,” She shook his hand and withdrew her hand almost immediately. “Let’s start now,” Sebastian said with a faint smile. They all sat, and Stephanie passed the documents to the both of them. “These are the cloth designs we have for now. You can tell us what you think about it, Sir,” Sebastian said, and Owen slowly bounced his head. He moved his gaze from Stephanie’s face to the documents in front of him. There were pictures of their newly made designs in the files. He lifted his head after a few minutes and looked at Sebastian. “I like them. I’d buy them all,” He said, and Sebastian sighed. ‘He is definitely doing this because of Stephanie. What is he trying to pass across?’ Sebastian thought. “Thank you, Mr. Owen, but have you checked all of it?“ Sebastian asked, but Owen was busy staring at Stephanie, who kept her head slightly bowed. “I have checked everything, Mr. Sebastian. You don’t have to worry. Let’s sign the contract. I can’t wait to start working with you,” He said and looked at Sebastian with a smile. Sebastian clenched his jaw and pulled out the contract from his file. He passed the file to Owen, and Owen took the contract and brushed through. While he was doing this, Sebastian moved his hand to Stephanie’s legs under the large table. He touched her thighs and rubbed it slowly. She turned her head to him and looked at him. He smiled faintly, and she responded with a faint smile too. Sebastian looked up and saw Owen still looking at Stephanie. “I’m done signing.” Owen passed the contract back to Sebastian, and he removed his hand from Stephanie’s thighs. He took a quick look at the contract and signed too. “Who is this lady? You are yet to introduce her to us,” Mr. Coleman said, and Sebastian looked at him. “I’m sorry about that. I got carried away. “This is Stephanie, my new assistant,” He introduced, and Stephanie raised her head and smiled at him. “Your assistant is beautiful, Mr. Sebastian,” Owen uttered, and Sebastian clenched his jaw. “Thank you, Mr. Owen,” He responded and stood to his feet. “Mr. Coleman, thank you for always supporting this company. I would have to end this meeting now because I have another meeting in less than twenty minutes.” Sebastian stretched his hand to Mr. Coleman again, and he stood up. “You’re always welcome, Mr. Sebastian. We’ll talk some other time.” They shook hands, and he proceeded to the door. Owen also stood up and stretched his hand to Sebastian. “Nice doing business with you,” He said. Sebastian bobbed and took his hand. “Same here.” They broke the handshake, and Owen turned to look at Stephanie. “Stephanie, can I talk to you for a few minutes?” He asked. Stephanie looked at him and gulped. She wasn’t sure what to say to him. Especially when he is now a client of Sebastian. “I’m sorry, Mr. Owen, but Stephanie would be following me now. We have so much to cover. Maybe next time,” Sebastian pleaded with a remorseful face. “Sure. That’s no problem. Another time then,” He mumbled and picked up his bag. Stephanie had a slight bow as he walked out of the conference room. After they left, there was an awkward silence in the room. Stephanie kept her head low, and Sebastian kept staring at her. “That is the Owen, right?” He asked, and she nodded. “Please excuse me.” She hurriedly picked up her bag and rushed out of the conference room.
