Chapter 52: Laying his son
Sebastian got back to the hotel room at night. He ran off, trying to compose what he was going to say to Stephanie, but his head was blank. He was too shocked to know what to say. He got to the hotel room and saw the door was unlocked. He opened the door and saw her sitting on the bed. She sat, facing the large window and was staring outside. He moved closer to her, and when he looked at her face, he saw it was all swollen and red because of how much she had cried. He went on his knees in front of her, his eyes were glittering under the lights of the hotel room. He was at the brink of crying too. “I’m sorry, Stephanie. I never knew…” “You don’t have to do this, Sebastian. It’s obvious you didn’t know.” She threw her head backward and blinked her eyes severally. “I swear, Stephanie, this doesn’t change anything.” “Of course, it does, Sebastian! You have a son, and you have every right to take care of him, okay? He hugged you, he was happy to see you. You can’t just push him away,” She mumbled, and Sebastian lowered his head. Tears rolled out of his eyes as he had expected. At the moment, he regretted ever having anything to do with Rosebella, seven years ago. “But this doesn’t change the fact that I love you so much, Stephanie.” She lowered her head and looked at him, her eyes were so teary that she could hardly see him clearly. “I know it doesn’t change how you feel, but you know it can’t be the same again, right? Do you think his mother is willing to see me next to you, when she is right there? She is the mother of your child!” “I know, she is! But I don’t love her! I love you, and I want to get married to you! Only you, Stephanie. It’s you my heart wants!” Sebastian hurriedly reached inside his pockets and pulled out the blue ring box he had gotten. He had planned to propose to Stephanie during this vacation, while they were having fun and enjoying themselves, but things were going out of hand already. Rosebella was about to ruin everything he had planned. “Look at me, Stephanie. For you to know I’m serious! Please, marry me. I can take care of my son without having anything to do with his mother. I had planned to do this before he came here. Please, marry me, Stephanie.” Stephanie turned her head to look at him in shock. He stared at the diamond ring in the ring box he held up. They were both weeping as she looked at the ring. She shook her head and stood up from the bed. “I’m sorry, Sebastian. But I don’t think I want this now.” “Why? I love you, Stephanie. I want you to be my wife.” “Not now, Sebastian. This is the only person I know from your past. You never told me about your past. All I know is you are the son of the great Mr. Coleman, you own a company and you are a billionaire. There are other things we need to do before getting married. The first thing is knowing how to go about this thing with Rosebella, okay? I’m sorry.” “Where are you going?” He sprang to his feet after seeing Stephanie pick her phone from the bed and heading to the door. “I need some time alone. Please, don’t look for me,” She mumbled and hurried out of the room. Sebastian fell to the ground again and began to weep like a baby. He had never been so hurt his whole life. His eyes were so heavy, and he needed to let it all out. He banged the floor out of frustration as he cried. Soon, he heard a knock on the door, and he raised his head. “Stephanie?” He sprang to his feet and rushed to the door. He opened the door and wanted to pull her in, when he saw it wasn’t her. It was Rosebella and Liam. “Dad, why are you crying?” Liam asked worriedly, after seeing tears in his eyes. “What the f**k are you doing here, Rosebella?” He gritted his teeth as he spoke. “C’mon, Sebastian, why are you so harsh on me? My son kept saying he wanted to see you, I had no choice but to bring him here.” As soon as she finished talking, Liam found his way into the room and ran to the window. “What game are you playing, Rosebella? Do you think this is funny?” He asked in anger. “I’ll answer that in the room.” She slightly pushed him away from the door and walked in. “The answer to your question is that I have no game I’m playing. It’s the normal thing to do.” “Oh please! Don’t start acting like you are a saint! You cheated on me!” “And it was a stupid mistake! I wanted to talk to you about it, but you were long gone before I could explain! I looked for you everywhere, you blocked every means I could use to get to you. I found out later that I was carrying your baby! It’s not my fault!” “Mom, Dad, come and look at this. The view from here is so cool,” Liam said excitedly. “Really? I’m coming baby.” Rosebella let out a smirk and walked up to Liam, she squatted next to him and stared out of the window too. “It’s truly beautiful.” “Rosebella, I’d advise you to go away. I’m in the mood for this, okay?” Sebastian walked up to her and pulled her up by her arm. “Hey, don’t treat me like that, okay? You can talk without doing that,” She angrily said and stood to her feet. Liam stared at them in confusion and fear. “Please, don’t fight,” He muttered. “Oh baby, don’t worry. Mom loved Dad so much. We would never fight,” She responded, keeping her eyes locked with Sebastian’s. “If you think there’s going to be a ‘us’ again, forget about it! It’s never going to happen! I have a woman in my life now.” Rosebella smirked and looked at the bed, where the ring box laid open. “Really? Where is she now? I bet she can’t handle the fact that you have a son. I have always loved you, Sebastian, and you’re going to be mine again.” She chuckled and turned to look at Liam. “Baby, spend the night with your father. Mom has things to do.” Liam nodded gratefully, and she looked at Sebastian again. “Be nice to him. He is the most innocent person here.” She walked past him, and she hit his shoulder as she did. She got out of the room, and Liam looked at Sebastian. “Dad,” He called, and Sebastian gulped hard. He wanted to throw him out of the room too, but he thought about it again. ‘He is still your child, Sebastian.’ He heaved a sigh and sat on the bed. He opened his hands, telling him to come closer. Liam walked to him and stood between his legs. “Have you had dinner?” Sebastian asked, and he bounced his head. “Yes. Have you had dinner?” He asked too. “Not yet. But I’m not hungry.” “But you will get something to eat when you are hungry, right?” He asked, and Sebastian divulged a faint smile. “Yes, I would. Come on now, it’s late. You should sleep.” Liam nodded, and Sebastian lifted him and made him lay on the bed. He pulled the duvet over him and patted his head as he drifted into the dreamland.
