Chapter 55: Journey of being a mother.

Stephanie grabbed her phone and pressed it against her ear in shock.
“You are pregnant?!” Sarah asked again, and Stephanie began to pant very hard.
“Hey, are you okay? You don’t look so good.” The Doctor said, staring at Stephanie. She looked at him and shook her head.
“I… I am good,” She mumbled and stood up. She looked at the file in her hand again.
Her eyes heated up quickly and her emotions escalated.
“Mom, you heard the doctor.” She mumbled as she walked out of the office.
“Oh God, what are you going to do? Stephanie, this is serious.”
“Mom, I know! You are not letting me think! Can you please give me a second?” She yelled in tears, and those that were around stared at her.
She rested her back on the wall and slid down, crying profusely. Her phone slid out of her hand and slightly fell to the floor.
‘What are you going to do, Stephanie?! You are pregnant for Sebastian! Are you going to tell him? Are you going to keep this baby?’
“Stephanie, are you there?” Sarah asked again. She had never been so worried about Stephanie before.
Stephanie picked her phone again.
“What do I do, Mom? I don’t want to contact Sebastian. I am yet to get the space I want, and I get this too?”
“You would still have to let him know. Maybe this is a sign that you don’t have to run away from him. He has a son with another woman, and you are carrying his baby too!”
“No. I don’t want to face him now, Mom. I am not coming back and I’m not telling him about this. You can’t tell him too, okay?”
“But…”
“Promise me, Mom! He wouldn’t know about this. You can tell dad, but Sebastian can’t know about this. You need to tell dad this too.”
Sarah heaved a loud sigh and bounced her head.
“But can you stay there alone? I can come there if you feel…”
“I’m fine. mom. I’m pregnant, not sick. I’m not twelve. Just don’t tell Sebastian about this.”
“Fine, I won’t. You need to rest well now, Stephanie. You need to eat good food too.”
“Wait, Mom. You are not pissed that I’m pregnant?” Stephanie asked and stood up from the floor.
She cleaned her eyes and headed out of the hospital. It was time to start the journey of being a mother. A single mother until she was ready to mingle again.
“I am not pissed. I’m worried about you. Why would I be pissed? You are old enough, and you have a boyfriend, more or less a fiancée, even though you are running away from him.”
“Thank you for understanding, Mom.”
“I love you, Stephanie. Please, take good care of yourself. I promise to visit you when I can, okay?”
“Hm. I love you too. Bye for now.”
Stephanie smiled faintly as she hung up the call. She placed her hands on her belly and gave it slight rubs as she walked down the street.
A smile crawled up her face as thought of her being a mother crossed her mind again. Not just a mother, but a mother of Sebastian’s child.

Sebastian and Liam got back to the office after going out to eat lunch. Liam was on holidays at school, so he wanted to spend more time with his Dad.
Rosabella on the other hand is happy to see the beautiful bond between her son and his father, but she wasn’t happy enough because he never gave her the attention she craved.
Liam waited in Sebastian’s office for Rosabella to pick him up. While he waited, he let Sebastian get busy with work too.
He picked the cookies in his bag and began to eat them quietly. Sebastian raised his head and saw him eating.
He smiled and looked at his Laptop again. He was finishing up some work.
There was a knock on the door after some minutes and they both looked up. Liam looked at Sebastian and stood up.
“I locked the door. I’ll open it.”
He hurried to the door and opened it to see his mother standing in front of him.
“Mom!” He called out and hugged her tightly.
Sebastian raised his head and when he saw Rosabella walk in, he exhaled softly and looked away.
“Hi, Sebastian.” She called, and he bounced his head.
“Hi.”
“Hey, Liam. Can you go and play outside for a few minutes? Mummy wants to talk to Dad.”
Liam nodded happily and reached for his bag. He hung it on his back and hurried out of the office.
Rosabella heaved a sigh and sat on the seat in front of his desk.
“Can you give me a minute, please?” She asked.
Sebastian paused what he was doing and lifted his head.
“I’m listening.”
“Why are you doing this to me, Sebastian? Why are you pushing me away? I never did anything wrong.”
“I never said you did anything wrong, Rosabella. What are you talking about?”
“Stop acting like you don’t understand what I’m saying. You know what you are doing. You don’t pay me attention. All you do is buy things for Liam, but you never give me the slightest attention.”
“I told you, woman. We are not together. You can’t expect me to do all these for you. I have a fiancée.”
“And where is your fiancée?”
“It’s none of your business. What is happening in my life is not your business, okay? I don’t love you anymore, and don’t ever think I’d see you as anything more than Liam’s mother:”
Tears gathered in her eyes. and she sprang to her feet and pointed at him.
“Why are you so heartless?! Do you think Liam would want you to hurt his mother?”
“I am not hurting you, and he hasn’t told me anything about that. He is a big boy. He can think for himself. I owe my son the duties of a father, and I’m doing that. I don’t owe you anything. I’ll keep sending money to you every week for his upkeep.”
After Sebastian finished talking, he turned away from her and kept working on his laptop.
“I don’t want your money if you won’t care for me the same way you care for him! I have been taking care of him for six years, I can keep doing that.”
She grabbed her bag from the table and stormed out of the office in tears.
Sebastian exhaled loudly and picked up his cup of coffee. He sipped from it and kept working.
His phone rang shortly, and he answered it without looking at the caller.
“Hello.”
“Mr. Sebastian.”
“Oh… Jack, have you found her?” He asked with eagerness.
“It’s still the same, Mr. Sebastian. We still haven’t gotten anything. Do you want us to give up?”
“No! No, Jack. I can’t give up on her! I love her! Keep looking for her.”
“Okay, sir.”
He hung up the call and placed the phone on the table.
‘Where are you, Stephanie. Why are you doing this to me?’
