Henry lay on the ground, bloodied and bruised, his men continued to beat him mercilessly. He was in turmoil, he groaned cursing the day he ever joined the men in black. “Let go of me! Stop!” Henry ordered. He thought his title as the second in command would make them listen but it was otherwise.
“Beat him to death, boys. We need to send his head to Boss when he is dead.” Lucas chuckled.
Henry became weak and he couldn't scream for help anymore, he was about to lose consciousness when a gunshot rang out. It was fired at Lucas's forehead. The men stopped their assault as they were gunned down. Henry struggled to open his eyes, his vision blurry and his head pounding.
“Who's that? Please don't kill me, we can talk this out.” Henry said, checking his pocket for his pistol.
“Damn it!” He grumbled as he couldn't find his gun in his pocket. He remembered keeping the gun in his car.
He blinked away the haze and his gaze met a figure emerging from the shadows, a gun still smoking in his hand. It was Jones, Emily's boyfriend, who was declared dead.
Henry gasped in his hiding spot behind his car, shocked and relieved at the same time. He had always suspected that Jones was still alive, but he had never been able to confirm it.
Jones was back, and he was out for vengeance. Henry knew that he was in even greater danger, as Jones had always been ruthless and unpredictable.
He watched as Jones surveyed the scene, his eyes darting from the dead men to Henry's hiding spot. “I would spare you, I wouldn't want to murder you all in a go. Getting rid of you bit by bit is my goal.” Jones said, looking away from Henry.
Henry held his breath, waiting to see what Jones would do next. He was grateful for the help but he remained in his hiding spot, peeking at Jones.
Suddenly, Jones turned and walked away, disappearing into the night. Henry breathed a sigh of relief, his troubles were far from over so as his illegal doings were.
“Gosh! I thought I was going to die. It's time to travel out of the country with my family, I can't risk it.” Henry frowned, he knew she sounded more like a coward.
Jones would be back, and next time, he might not be so lucky.
As he struggled to his feet, Henry felt a surge of determination. He knew that he had to do whatever it takes to keep his family safe, even if it meant facing Jones head-on.
Henry's heart was racing as he drove down the dark and deserted road. He couldn't shake the image of the lifeless body he had just seen on the side of the road. “I need to meet Celine first, she might also be in trouble.”
He finally made it to the hospital, his hands shaking as he parked his car and ran inside. As he entered the room where Celine was staying, he saw her playing with Erickson. Relief washed over him as he saw that she was safe and unharmed.
He ran to her and pulled her into a tight embrace, tears streaming down his face. "I'm sorry for keeping you in the dark," he whispered.
Celine couldn't help but burst into tears at the sight of her father's distress. She clung to him, trying to reassure him that everything was alright.
Erickson watched the scene unfold, his heart breaking at the sight of Celine's tears and the realization that she was Henry's daughter. He couldn't believe that the girl he loved was the daughter of the man he called father.
"No!" he whispered to himself. "It can't be! How could my lover call my father, father? She's the only girl I've ever loved."
He tried to push the thoughts out of his mind, but they continued to gnaw at him, filling him with a sense of betrayal and confusion.
Erickson's heart was shattered as he stood before the man he had called father for so many years. He had just discovered that the girl he had fallen in love with was his step-sister, and the realization was too much to bear.
Tears streamed down his face as he pushed his father away from Celine. "No, you can't be her father," he thundered, his voice filled with anger and hurt.
Henry looked at him with confusion and disbelief, not understanding the source of his son's outburst. "What are you talking about, son? Of course, she's my daughter. What's going on?"
Erickson's heart felt like it was being squeezed as he struggled to find the words to express the betrayal and confusion he was feeling. "I fell in love with her, Dad. I fell in love with my step-sister. How could you keep this from me? How could you let me fall in love with someone who is part of our family?"
His father's expression softened as he realized the depth of his son's pain. "I'm sorry, son. I never meant for this to happen. I didn't know you two would fall in love. I never imagined that my daughter would be in love with my stepson."
Erickson shook his head, unable to comprehend how his life had turned into such a mess. He couldn't bear the thought of being in love with his step-sister, and he couldn't forgive his father for keeping this secret from him.
He turned away from his father and Celine, feeling lost and alone. His heart was broken, and he didn't know how to pick up the pieces. All he knew was that his life would never be the same again. He walked away with his shoulder slumped, starting at an open space.
“Erickson, I tried to tell you. I'm sorry.” Celine tried to stop Erickson by grabbing his wrist. He jerked her hand off “And what did you do? Play games with my heart?”
Celine flung, and she could see the rage burning in his eyes. Without hesitation, she embraced him from behind. "I love you too but what can I do? I have no choice but to accept you as my brother. The same thing applies to you.” she cooed.
Erickson pushed her away. Thankfully, Henry was able to hold her from falling. “I hate you!” Erickson's voice rang before he stormed out of the hospital.
