Chapter 11 The ball

Shane heaved a sigh as she brushed the cold metal gear on her thighs and locked it. Poisoned needles and two daggers were tacked inside of each gear and were then covered by her long gold halter gown.
With dark eye shadows, her stares dazed through the sparks of fury pinning the fact that the event she's attending to is not just any another party.
She gazed at the man's reflection in the mirror, tilting the door open, and was wearing a wide smile on his face.
Sebastian dashed his way towards her and took the golden necklace with a golden snow flake charm on the table beside him.
The fine man, age 26, who go by the name of Sebastian O'keeffe came from a mysterious family in Ireland. Needless to say, Shane's non-biological grandfather sent him to guard his "only granddaughter". He had accepted her trully.
"Still is the ice queen, huh?" He asked as he wore the necklace around her neck.
"When did I even stop being one?" She raised a brow. "And just to remind you, Sebastian, I hate being questioned."
"I know, milady," he beamed, took a step back, and stretched his hand over her. "Shall we go now?"
Shane placed her hand on top of his and the two walked out of the room. The boys weren't ready yet so she have to wait at the hall for a couple of minutes.
"Take everyone who acts suspicious," Shane muttered. "We're not losing anyone tonight."
Sebastian nodded just then, the boys arrived in the hall.
"Wow! You looked so gorgeous, manager-nim," Min wowed as he scooted near her.
"I supposed you're fine now, Mr. Kim?" She asked sternly and he grinned.
"Super fine," Min answered. "I got the cream you gave me yesterday. It's really soothing."
"Good! Now let's go," she turned her back against them and walked towards the exit. The boys exchanged looks and shrugged by her sudden coldness.
"She looks so damn gorgeous tho, " Yohanne whispered, passing between Seiji and Eun to tease either one of them or simply, both. And so the two ended up smiling awkwardly to each other.
"S-she looks new," Eun stuttered.
"Ahh... y-you're right," Sehun agreed.
"Shall we go now?"
"Oh, sure!"
They followed the rest outside, careful enough not to have another awkward conversation. They were only in one limousine and as usual, Sebastian was the chauffeur. The kids were noisier than usual, bragging each other their luxuriant tuxedos while Shane was left in one corner, contemplating about what's gonna happen in the event.
It was only a day since Min's accident and they're facing another serious problem yet the lady in gold took everything as an advantage. Inhuman as it may sound but she's making them as baits in this situation.
Everything was carefully planned. Mr Kim and the Generals were also in with this and diffused civilian militaries in the area. Everyone is watching the boys from every corner, making sure none of them will be harmed.
Shane looked at them carefully before she stepped outside the limousine. "Stay alert." She whispered and everyone nodded in response.
The boys were aware that they aren't on the safe zone yet still acted as if nothing's bothering them at all.
"Wow!" Eun gasped as they walked through the isle.
Extravagant decors were too astonishing that even Shane had her lips parted. Dukes, duchesses, barons, czars, and all elite businessmen throughout the world joined the celebration including the prince and princess of England.
They immediately went to their assigned seats and settled down.
"No threats," Shane thought as she was secretly eyeing every people in the venue.
"What's the update?" She asked through the earpiece.
"Nothing suspicious, milady," Sebastian answered from the other line.
"Good! I'm giving you, guys, my trust. You know what to do."
"Understood, milady."
"Who were you talking to?"
Shane flinched when Zen suddenly appeared beside her.
"Talking to whom?" She had to ask back. "I wasn't talking to anybody, oppa. And why are you here? You're supposed to sit beside Eun oppa."
"Nah!" He pouted. "Chan and him went hyper again. You know how dangerous they are, manager-nim."
"Hmm!" Shane chuckled. "Fine, you can sit here with me."
Zen smiled and both of them looked at the two people who stepped on the stage—probably the emcees.
"Good evening, ladies and gentlemen!" The lady started.
"Tonight is the celebration of the 52nd annual gathering of nobles and elites from different countries. Yes, it is the Night of the Golden Darkness!" The man beside her added. "The program will officially start by an opening remark by one of our sponsors, Mr. Juyoung Kim and will be then followed the sequenced program."
"Now sit back, relax and enjoy the night," the two said in chorus.
Lights went out and so mutters hovered the place. Shane took her watch out and checked the guards.
No one's lost. No one's in danger. Everything's at place.
"How is it going up there?" She asked through the earpiece, once again, as she was looking at the boys through the dim light.
"Everything's fine, milady," the man, on the other line, answered.
"Front row's clear, milady," one of the front row guards answered.
The others confirmed the same situation, but Shane isn't just convinced. She knew something is going to happen before the night ends.
"Hold your positions," she said when drum rolled out from nowhere.
"Lady in black, 12 O'clock," Sebastian snarled and she looked at the direction.
Shane's eyes squinted when she saw the lady Sebastian was talking about. She's standing meters away from her so she's having a hard time making up her figure.
Her brows raised when she realized the lady is wearing a mask and is obviously grinning at her.
"Should I kill her, milady?" Sebastian asked.
"No. Stay in your post," she muttered. "You watch the boys, I'll take care of her. This might be a bait so keep your guards up, understood?!"
She didn't wait for him to answer and took her earpiece out before standing up. The woman in black threw herself into the crowed and Shane followed.
"Be the eye," she whispered while passing through Seiji.
He didn't say anything and only nodded, making his gestures transparent for the others not to notice the departure of their manager.
Shane carefully dashed her way, following the small fabric from the woman's gown covered by the crowed.
Furrows formed on her forehead. "What is she planning?" She thought.
Everything was shaving right in her face as they were crossing a swan bridge behind a huge oak. Continuing the peaceful path, Shane glanced side by side, noticing no one around.
"So, she's planning to take me down herself then," she mentally chuckled and looked at the woman. "Quite interesting, uless she had a bunch of men waiting right here to take me down."
The woman stopped meters away from her and so did she, making sure she won't step on the red line to assure her place.
"Hmm..." the woman chuckled. "I was expecting you to ask who I am right away."
"Will you tell me if I did?" Shane smirked when the woman turned around to face her.
The moon was shining through her glittered mask that she could see the sparkle in the lady's eyes but she was anxious. Those thick eye makeups are giving her a hard time sketching her appearance out.
"Well, of course! Just a credit for protecting the boys well," she smirked back. "Making my job a lot more complicated, thank you very much."
Smugging, Shane pooched her lips out with her eyes pinned right through the lady's mask. "Job? Killing IS your JOB?" She emphasized.
"Are you that poor to make money out of people's lives?"
The lady only shrugged, tapping her mask with her red fake finger nails.
"You want to remove this thing out of my face, I supposed?" She intoned, sounded more like a moan. "I'm giving you five seconds to flick this away without me doing anything."
Shane cocked a brow. "Don't go too familliar with me."
Grunting, she squeezed her brows together to send chills towards the antagonist but she only drumbed all her fingers in her mask, taunting. Her eyes shows the wide grin behind it
"I'm not! I just wanna know how much your skills improved after all these years. After all..." the woman slightly tilted her head down with his hand covering half of her mask.
"Who would refuse a fight against the great Scarlevounoir."
