Chapter Sixteen

Darcie was sitting alone in a park. She was so sad, worried and in deep thought of the recent happenings to her friends lately. A lot of people who were walking past her were wondering why Darcie was sitting alone on the lawn, looking sad. A boy of her age was passing by and Darcie caught his attention. He saw her saddened face and felt pity for her. He decided to go see her.
"Hey!", he greeted. Darcie looked up and saw him smiling at her. "Do I know you?", she asked frantically. He laughed quietly at the question. "Why are you sad?", he asked. "Nothing! Just leave me alone", she replied scornfully. The boy smiled;"Who knows? You may be pushing away the source of you being happy again." Darcie didn't say a word in return. "Okay then! Let me go; I don't think I'm needed here", he began walking away.
"Who knows? You may be pushing away the source of you being happy again." This was the statement running on her mind continuously. She stood up suddenly and called on the dude. "Please wait!", she said. The boy stopped and turned back at once. He could see a girl looking troubled, asking him for help eagerly. She ran to him. "I've got something to say to you", she began. "I'm all ears", he replied. Darcie looked round the park and saw a lot of people in it. "Follow me!", she took the boy by the hand to another place.
Both of them sat by a river bank. Darcie had told him few events. "I really feel for you and your friends", the dude told her. "I just want to know how to keep my friends safe from those people that have been attacking them", she added. "My neighbour was once attacked by strange people. After a lot of investigation, the people were exposed", the boy said, scratching his head.
"They were disguising as ghosts?", she questioned, feeling more relaxed. He laughed at the question;"I didn't say so. What made you think of that? I only called them strange because the reason for attacking him was baseless and they were wearing some costumes to cover their faces, to avoid being caught. When exposed, they turned out to be his clique members." He laughed again;"Like what gave you such feeling?"
"My friend claims to be seeing ghosts on white gowns", she replied almost immediately. The smile on the guy's face vanished on hearing this gradually. "Wait! Ghosts on white gowns?", he asked. Darcie nodded her head to confirm his fears.
The boy was shocked: he stood up quickly. You live at the Peters mansion right?", he asked. Darcie got surprised and stood up too. "Yes!", she nodded, "But how did you know? Does my story have anything to do with the Peters mansion I'm living in?", she became so curious. "My name's Nigel. What about yours?", he said. "My name's Darcie", she replied. He held her by the hand;"Follow me! I've someone that may help you." "Really?", she brightened up. "Yes!", Nigel replied. They both left the place.

Nigel and Darcie entered into a strange building. Nigel was fast but, Darcie was walking reluctantly because the building was so creepy. There were writings of spiritual meaning all over the walls and it was in the middle of the woods. Nigel turned back and saw her walking in reluctantly. "You don't need to be afraid. Trust me", he told her. Darcie heaved a sigh to try and get bold. "Okay, I'm cool!", she said. She walked up quickly to Nigel and both of them walked into the first room in the building.
"Wait here! Let me go inform him", Nigel instructed. She nodded her head in agreement and he left the room, using another route. Darcie sat on a nearby chair and was looking round the room. "This place is so creepy. I hope I'm safe", she thought.
Nigel raised up a curtain and entered into a room. A man, sitting in the air, closing his eyes, making some incantations quietly, was seen. He was clothed on a white gown.
"Master! There's someone that needs your help urgently", Nigel reported. "I've told you not to distract me when praying", the Master frowned. "But this is very important", Nigel insisted. "What could be more important than my rituals?", asked the Master with a stern look.
"There's a girl being attacked by the Peters ghosts", he told him. The Master stopped praying, he was shocked. He opened his eyes and came down to the floor gradually. "Where's she?", he asked eagerly. "She's outside", Nigel pointed outwards. "Bring her in here", he ordered, stroking his beards. Nigel nodded;"Yes Master!" He left the room to go get Darcie.
Darcie and Nigel were sitting together, facing Nigel's Master, who was now sitting on the floor. "I knew we'd see each other some day but, I never expected it to be today", the Master, referring to Darcie. "You know me already?", Darcie became confused. "Yes! I've been watching you and your friends, even when inside the Peters mansion", explained the Master.
"How were you doing that?", Darcie gazed at him. The old man pointed to a mirror on the wall. "Through that mirror", he said. "You brought me here to a wizard of the black arts?", Darcie questioned Nigel. Nigel tried to make things go smoothly but his Master told him to stay quiet.
"Aren't you in the Illuminati? You are so...there's no need to hide it", he said to Darcie. Nigel looked at her in amazement after hearing this. "Why was she hiding it then?", he thought. Darcie kept quiet, telling them indirectly the Master was right.
"Don't be worried! I'm here to stand by you", the man assured her.
She swallowed up her worries and asked;"How are you going to do that?" "Just bring your friends here and I'll tell you everything", he replied. "I really wonder what will make them come over here with me", she thought. Nigel broke the silence;"Can you do that?" She turned and looked at him, and then, the Master, not knowing what to say.
