Life is often filled with thorns and roses, I must confess that mine is no exception. It has been over 2 years after my encounter with Joseph, making it 4 years in my university. While on the negative side, I am still attracted to the same sex. Within those two years, I had two likings for the same sex, who happened to be two of my coursemates. Fortunately, I was able to get over them, as I tried as much as possible to avoid them like plague, admiring them from a distance. It was heartbreaking as I knew the consequences if I got too close to any one of them. My decision still stands though. As much as I am living, I will never give in to my feeling for the same sex. Once I pass my bloom of youth, all these sexual cravings of mine for the same-sex will come to an end. On a good note, my skills in making homemade snacks have been noticeable for some of the lecturers. They have been able to create an entrepreneurship field in that area, especially for the final year students.
So for the past two years, I have been training some interested final year students in baking, cooking as well as making homemade snacks. Being supervised by some other students who know about the skill makes the workload a little lighter. The skill is not for free, even though the amount for the learning is not much, the school has helped in giving me 70% of the pay. Not only am I learning by teaching others but also gaining some money. I must confess it has been difficult especially with coping with my studies as well as being the Class Representative of the Pharmacy department. Walking towards my lecture room along the corridors, I could not help but keep my phone in my hand to chat with my elder brother Matthew. He has finished his schooling and is now working at one of the well-known Business organizations in Lagos. I kept raising my head as I tried to make sure not to collide with someone else. I can't believe I am doing this, texting and walking. A smile crept to my face as I received a message from my brother. *I learned you are now a millionaire, making money through your homemade snacks. Yet you are requesting money from me. How shameless. I stopped walking as I tried to think of a good reply for him. I continued moving as I tried to type only to bump into someone, as my phone fell off my hand, falling to the ground. "Oh no!", I whimpered as I quickly bent to pick it up, checking it. Thankfully, I have a screen guard which protects it, but still, I got a scratch. I heard a scoff as I turned to see a tall guy who looked rather unbothered, even though he bumped into me. Well, we bumped into each other, but still, he was supposed to apologize, right? " Hey, won't you even apologize for bumping into me", I asked as I stood up and made two steps closer to him. "Wait. Am I? But I thought you were pressing your phone while walking. Isn't that unethical?", the guy said, sounding rather sarcastic as my face fell, people around were beginning to look at us. That is right. I should not have tried walking and pressing my phone. " Or do you want to collect some money to repair it?", he said again, as I felt a gush of anger but was quick to end it. I won't like to get into a fight and get expelled. What am I even saying? I can't even fight? He is not worth it. "It is okay. Goodbye then", I said, preparing to leave but was held by his hand. I turned abruptly to face him as a smirk made its way to his lips. " You haven't apologized yet", he said, as I wore a shocked expression. "We are both at fault. I think we are even now. Don't try to behave immaturely", I cautioned as he held my hand again. " Leave him alone", a voice interrupted us as he looked at the person. He dropped my hand immediately as his face turned pale, and he looked quite afraid. I looked at the young man who stopped the guy from bullying me. His face wore an angry look which was later covered with a scowl as he walked towards us. I looked around to notice the students going their different ways which happen to be strange. The young man wrapped his hand around the neck of the guy, as he looked like a cat thrown inside water. "You are supposed to apologize to him for behaving rudely right?", The young man asked the guy as he nodded, as he quickly moved to my side. " I'm sorry that I wasn't watching. Please forgive me", the guy said, almost stuttering. I could not help but wear a confused face at the turn of events. "No. We are both at fault. I'm sorry too", I quickly objected as I seem a little bit afraid of what the young man might do to the guy. " That is not all. You have to pay for damages to his phone which I think will cost around #1,000(naira)", The young man demanded as my face turned into a surprised look. "No, no, no. He doesn't have to pay. I have a screen guide. My phone only had a scratch", I objected as I felt we were both at fault. He moved closer to the guy as he made his mouth to his ear. "You will pay right?", his voice enunciating fear. " Yes, I will pay. Give me your account details. I will send it", the guy said, trying not to panic. Noticing how the guy was panicking, I wasn't at peace. And come to think again, why is this young man helping me? I should stop him, right? But his face looks scary, and it seems a lot of people knew who he was. I collected the boy's phone as I typed in my account number, changed the last two numbers, and wrote the correct bank name with my phone number. "Make sure you call me after you send it. Next time, don't bully others. You can leave", I said in other to convince the young man not to make him a scapegoat. I turned immediately as I started walking. " Hey, stop", the young man's voice sounded, as I stopped on my track, breathing in and out gently. He came to my front as he smiled at me, his face looking more radiant and handsome. He was taller than I am with two of his short-lived shirt unbuttoned. He is a bad boy", my subconscious commented as I stepped back a little. "Hey. Thanks for helping me out. I'm almost late for my next lecture", I said, trying not to be around him. He continued to smile, giving me goosebumps, as he checked his wristwatch. " You still have about 30 minutes until the beginning of your lecture. Can't we say hi to each other for 5 minutes", he said as I looked shocked. How did he know about my lectures? Is he stalking me? " My name is Philip, a final year student of Pharmaceutical Science. Nice to meet you", he said as my mind skipped a bit. Who is he?
