Forgive me…
I woke up to Marc's soft sobbing behind me. He is now next to me here in the tent after we danced all night at the flying lantern festival. His tight embrace around my waist is taking my breath away. The pillow between us last night was now at our feet. I carefully took his arm wrapped around me and got up to see his condition. His face was wet with tears and sweat, and fear smeared on his face.
"I have to leave you here," he said softly with his eyes closed so I shook him with great force to wake him up from a bad dream.
"Heart, wake up. You're having a bad dream." I shook him again until he opened his eyes and stared at me. He stared at me long enough and I was perplexed when he suddenly pulled my arm causing me to sink into his chest.
"Are you okay?" I could hardly breathe because his hug was so tight and he was panting while hugging me. He didn't respond so I just let him hug me because that was the only thing I could do to ease him.
Eventually, he let go of me when he calmed down and we both got up. It was a busy day when we opened the tent and because he promised me last night that I would just tell him what I wanted to do and he would give me anything on one condition, he must be with me so this is what I asked for.
To sleep in a tent and witness the sunrise.
I gave him water and let him breathe. We were both silent and I waited for him to be okay before asking what happened in his dream. When I saw him earlier, there was a part of me that hurts. My heart ached to see him sad or crying. Even though I don't know what he dreamed, I feel what he feels.
Instead of waiting for the sunrise, I just stared at him. I don't want to take my eyes off of him. I'll wait for him to open up to me about what happened earlier. He was still speechless and just staring deeply at the serene sea. He didn't even notice that I was staring at him. Instead of waiting, I snuggled myself in his arms and rested my head on his shoulder. I gently caressed the back of his hand and he finally looked at me.
"Heart, you can tell me if something is bothering you." I warily looked deep into his eyes persuading him that he can trust me whatever it is. He heaved a deep sigh and shifted on his seat to face me. His deep stares penetrating my soul caused me to stay still as he caressed my cheeks and leaned his head against mine. He closed his eyes, and I did the same anticipating that he will open in return.
"Why do you keep appearing in my dreams?" He exhaled a large volume of air and I stayed still to let him continue expressing what is in his mind that only his eyes can't hide.
"Ever since we met again, I kept having dreams of a baby, the mansion..." He paused and held my hand tightly, took a deep breath, and continued, "And you but I don't know why." He broke away from the hug then stood up and left me sitting in the tent as I watched him walk away from me. I immediately considered that he might be the boy Dad was referring to who brought me to the mansion but why is that?
Why is he troubled by his dreams?
Did something happen to him after that night?
Why do I sense like he knows nothing?
The questions in my mind stopped when the first rays of the sun hit my face. I drew a sweet smile on my lips as I ran to where Marc was standing. When I got to where he was standing, I quickly hugged him tightly from behind and planted a sweet kiss on his cheek that stunned him.
"You know what, whatever your dream is all about, we will figure it out together. I won't leave,” I assured him wearing a lighthearted smile. I didn't expect him to smile in return. Apart from that, my eyes grew bigger and my mouth formed an o when he picked me up like a bride, but the smile I was wearing changed to fear when my back was wet with water.
Don't tell me...
"HEY! DON'T YOU DARE!" I was able to close my mouth before I could guzzle salty water when he let go of me. Like the speed of a flying arrow, I pulled his arm even with my eyes closed.
He should join!
I quickly got up while removing the wet hair from my face and threw the wet sand on his back. I laughed when his face turned sour and didn't hesitate to reciprocate. I was running away from him while he was holding the big ball of wet sand but he still caught me. He was laughing hard as he rubbed the sand on my face. It's a bit rough but it doesn't hurt the face. He stopped when I stopped laughing and leaned on his chest with a soft giggle.
"This is so nice."
“Are you saying my abs are nice?” My movement was so agile that I immediately elbowed his side making him groan in pain.
"In your dreams!" I pointed at him but he grinned. In return, I punched his chest in exasperation.
"Oh, he's paying attention to my sleeping muscles." He playfully wobbled his eyebrows annoying me more.
"I'M NOT!" He pissed me off even more so I turned away from him instead of answering him. I felt him follow me and he was still pushing his proud glorious body.
"Heart, don't leave me here. Let me come with you. You have free access to every muscle I have!” He looked like a madman screaming and calling my name to tease me. He's enjoying it and I'm annoyed at my midpoint.
I keep walking to go back to the shore because the water is up to my shoulders. I was surprised when he caught my hand and I turned to face him so our sweet gaze met in the early sunlight but what surprised me more was when something crawled on my leg. My eyes almost popped out in fear of whatever creature crawled on my skin. It didn't bite me but I think the sea creature was more embarrassed than me especially when I realized that my two hands were wrapped around his neck tightly and then my thigh was wrapped around his hip due to uncontrolled panic. His two hands were holding my butt, supporting me so I wouldn't fall.
"Are you okay?" He asked me worriedly as if nervously uncomfortable. I couldn't speak immediately and just stared at him as he was getting hot even though his body was wet from the water. Another beating heart is about to come out of my chest.
"Something just crawled on my leg." I went down quickly and separated from him but because of my sudden descent, my butt hit on something hard and I'm sure that it's not that creature anymore. I was more restless when we both looked below.
'What is that sha-rp thing that just hit me?" It's as clear as the sunrise that his Adam's apple moved and he averted my gaze awkwardly.
"Ah, I'm sorry."
Did I wake up his manhood?
***
I decided to stay in the room all day and Manang was just bringing my food. I watched Moonlovers because it was completed yesterday. I've watched the first 5 episodes but I'm too lazy to wait for the update every week so I just waited for it to complete and I was crying in front of my laptop because Baekhyun, my EXO bias, my love died. Besides the sad drama I'm watching, after we went swimming earlier, Marc and I stopped talking and everyone just avoided us. Sure enough, it's an awkward atmosphere.
It's almost 3 pm but he doesn't even come to my room. I peeked at him in the living room and he was reading a book, maybe he was studying but why is he reading the book upside down? Did he even flip one page? How can he read that?
I almost slammed my head on the wall because of my stupidity when my stomach growled like a hungry animal again. I noticed that I had just eaten food and I was not full and my stomach was still looking for something to eat. I quickly changed into black jogging pants and a fuschia pink fitting V-neck shirt then faced the mirror to apply a little pressed powder and pink lipstick. I slowly left the room and approached him but he was so deep in thought that he didn't even notice that a goddess passed by. I cleared my throat intentionally to catch his attention and of course, it works all the time. He immediately threw his book on the couch and focused his eyes on me scanning me from head to toe.
"Heart? I wanna go out.” He washed his face in frustration because I know he'll in trouble with Dad again because of my request.
"Heart, you know we can't." I pouted in front of him like a cute puppy hoping to convince him to give in to me.
"Heart, please. I want to eat my favorite tusok-tusok!" I automatically sat next to him and slipped my hand on his arm, caressing it but stopped when I realized what I had said that made us awkward earlier.
Note: Tusok-tusok is a street food in the Philippines.
Actually, I'm referring to fishball and not eating his 'you know' whatever your green mind think but I unintentionally remind him of what happened earlier. I accidentally looked down and before he could catch me I closed my eyes then stood up like a madman and pulled him out of the safe house.
"Heart, I will buy what you want. You don't need to go outside with me.”
"Nah stop worrying! It's just outside the resort, and we'll be quick promise." My voice was sad when I confessed that to him. I stopped pulling him out and stopped in front of the bodyguards who were standing guard close to me.
"Alright, you know I can't resist you when you look at me like that." In the end, Marc agreed. The group of bodyguards who had been assigned to watch over me this day tailed from behind. I don't want to bring bodyguards with me because it's a distraction, and we're just going to eat street food. Nothing bad will happen. Marc led me to walk and stopped again after a few steps when I didn't move from my place, his brows raised.
"Is there a problem?" He asked with a frown and when he noticed that I disliked being with bodyguards, he sighed and gestured to the two. In return, he deducted two bodyguards leaving three to secure the parameter outside the resort while the other two are guarding 10 m away from us. Good thing he compromised but when we went out, he was so overprotective. He's not letting go of my hands like we are chained. We're just eating and I'm dipping again another stick of fishball.
"Another stick of butchi Manong. Thank you." I ate greedily and dipped another stick that was still hot. I like spicy but I dipped it in the sweet first before the spicy so it taste so good. After eating butchi in my left hand and a stick of fishball in the right, the people I was with, including Manong, stared as they watched me eat voraciously. It's been a while since I've eaten street food.
"Heart, try the kwek kwek it's also delicious. Manong, more guso please. Thank you." Marc couldn't speak at my command and everyone who are currently eating looked at us when he touched my chin and then cleaned the side of my mouth with a tissue.
Note: Guso is a local seaweed in the Philippines.
"You got sauce on your lips." My eyes became rounder with what he did and especially when he bit his bottom lip while staring at my lips.
“YIEE!” The crowd teased us as if watching their favorite scene from a romantic movie. Instantly, I felt embarrassed. I faked a cough and stepped back after he cleaned my lips then cupped my cheeks painted like the burning sun as I looked down to let my hair cover my redness.
"Let's go home." I handed the 200 to Manong and immediately left. I didn't wait for the change because I was too embarrassed to see my blazing cheeks. I walked quickly and didn't look back at Marc when he called my name. I even sped up to cross the road when my eyes caught the white van coming. I crossed safely and the van also stopped near me, probably because it was entering the resort.
On the right side about 5 meters away I saw the bodyguards staring like statues as I got closer and closer to them but before I could step 3 meters away from the entrance of the resort someone suddenly covered my eyes and mouth. I immediately inhaled a familiar smell that was very strong but sweet like in our laboratory when we dissected lab mice.
I grabbed the arm of the person who covered my mouth and my nails dug into his skin. I tried to hold my breath for a while so I wouldn't smell too much of the chemical but the longer I tried to hold, the power of the chemical dominated and I pretended to pass out. A commotion broke around and all I could hear was Marc's faint voice calling my name covered by the screams of people panicking. I also heard my bodyguards fighting with the unknown goons who abducted me and dragged me inside the car. The firmness and shape of his chest, the deep voice when he called his companions to lift me, I marked this bad man. I didn't flinch while being dragged because there was a gun pointed at my liver. I forced myself to calm down even though my system is panicking all over. There was no light, I felt blind again remembering the painful memories again of the past 4 years ago. And the strong smell of the chemical they used to force me to sleep made me unable to breathe and my whole body became heavy and feeble.
