Chapter 100
It was time for vidai(farewell). Spending time here, Nick didn’t feel like they were Sanaya’s family only but not his. They gave him so much love and warmth that he couldn’t be happier. It was more than enough for him to be grateful. He got all the love that he lacked from his own family. Her father was his father so her mother was, and even her uncle and aunt loved him not excluding her cousin sisters, and brothers. After all these years she didn’t know that Suraj would change. Whether it was because Nick was wealthy and from a different background than he could never reach but she was happy regardless of the reason.
Today, she wore a beautiful but simple saree and she wore everything that a Bengali wife could wear. She had her wedding ring on her ring finger while Nick wore branded suit and blazer. He looked elegant so did she, They looked perfect together.
The couple was walking down the stairs when all the members were waiting for them. It was time to bid goodbye.
One by one all of the family members were saying their words but the old man was standing at one side. He didn’t utter any words as he didn’t even have anything to say.
“Nick. Take care, both of you. And don’t forget to call us every day. And Sanaya, you know he is busy. Don’t be disobedient. He might not have enough time to feed you so listen to him more. And also…” Sanaya’s mom was crying and Sanaya was wiping off her tears. They were gotta go.
“Wait.” When he was putting the luggage in the trunk suddenly the old man walked forward. Everybody was flabbergasted. Was he finally going to accept them?
“While leaving you don’t even take my blessing, the eldest man in the house. And you sure you two are good people?” as they heard him, Sanaya gaped at Nick.
“Dad is accepting them, finally.”
Sanaya held his hand and they both touched his feet. For the first-ever time, the old man blessed Nick. He blessed them both and let out, “Take care on your way to the USA. And…and call me once you reach there. We will be much tensed. And… come back as soon as you finish there. I don’t want to stay away… stay away from my grandkids, I mean great-grandkids. I am this old already, I don’t have much time…”
Both sanaya and Nick hugged him before he could finish off his words. He got into tears and Sanaya smiled in his hug, “Don’t say like that, dadu(grandfather). We will come back soon and we will surely call you after we reach LA.”
“That’s great. That’s great…”
The old man didn't expect that Nick could change his mind. It was true that he was determined to not approve of their relationship. But when he saw he was a good husband, he not only treated his granddaughter well but he managed to get love from everyone in the family too. He knew he wronged them.
After a long time, she finally understood that many things were untouched by her and she believed only what she wanted to believe. Going to the USA was the best thing in her life because… she learned all the lessons she needed to learn to be able to fight all the battles that nature threw at her.
Today, Sanaya was standing at the same place she stood when she ran away to the USA. The feelings, the emotions felt different now. At that time, she was an amateur, she wanted to change her life and be independent, and true to say she did manage to do that. The only difference was now that she was not the only one standing there, not alone and she was not running away from her home either.
Kunal, Suraj, and Manya came to see them off to the airport. There was so much that Suraj regretted doing and he told her that once she would be back, he would fulfill some of the wishes that she once had with her brothers. She remembered how they spent all their time together along with Kunal and how Kunal always took her side when Suraj would make trouble…. All the memories now were happy memories though.
“What are you thinking of?” Hearing her husband’s voice as she turned around she saw him. Nick was sitting next to her on the plane and looking at her curiously. “Thanks for coming into my life.” Sanaya blurted out while gazing at him.
Nick snickered at her and moved closer to her, “You know what?”
“What?” as she asked so suddenly he looked straight into her eyes, touched the back of her head gently, and whispered, “You are the best thing happening in my life.” And then he smooched his lips on hers…
ONCE SHE BELIEVED FAIRYTALES WERE TRUE THEN SHE BELIEVED THEY WERE NOT BUT NOW… SHE BELIEVED IF FAIRYTALES WERE TRUE THEN HE WOULD BE HER PRINCE CHARMING AND THEY WOULD LIVE A HAPPILY EVER AFTER JUST LIKE NOW.
Sanaya put her head on his shoulder and closed her eyes when Nick kissed her forehead and looked outside the window of the plane, smiling…
