Chapter 13
Lauren was already drunk and Kaizer didn’t know how to deal with her. After eating too many sweets, she then began drinking non-stop.
Lauren was just quietly drinking so Kaizer didn’t know what was running through the girl’s mind at that time. He didn't stop her because the girl might get angry with him again.
At that moment they were at the bar counter wherein one of the bartenders was just in front of them.
Lauren was still teasing him a while ago, but after drinking a few glasses of wine, she suddenly fell silent. She had this seriousness on her face that made Kaizer unconsciously watch her. Something might happen to her if he looked away even if it is just a second.
Kaizer looked at her intently.
If he only knew that she has a low alcohol tolerance, he wouldn't let her drink any alcohol. He would have ordered some fruit juice instead.
Lauren shifted her gaze at him and smiled. But Kaizer knew that it was not a happy smile.
Sadness.
Longing.
Pain.
Those emotions were reflected in her eyes.
“Hey…” Lauren started. “Can you tell me about your family? Like what does it feel to be with them?” she added another question before gulping down the wine again.
Kaizer could only sigh.
What was on her mind that she suddenly asked about his family? Kaizer snatched the glass from Lauren. It looks like she is planning to ask the bartender for another glass of wine again.
The bartender shook his head when he looked at them, he even lightly scratched his head. When Kaizer looked at him, he distanced himself from them. He left the two of them alone so that they could talk privately. He switched his attention to other guests.
“All right… you’re drunk. You already have your fill and that’s enough.” Kaizer firmly said.
Lauren looked at him and frowned. “Hey, mister! I know that you’re handsome, but you can’t sway me with that. You’re such a killjoy, I only drink like this once in a while and you’re already stopping me.” Lauren’s response while frowning.
What is the connection between his appearance and stopping her from drinking? Kaizer could only touch his forehead.
“You're not going to drink anymore. Let’s go.” He gently pulled up the woman.
“You need to rest for you to sober up.”
“Noooo~ I don’t want to.” Lauren’s spiteful remarks.
He groaned. This is why he refused to associate himself with women. They were hard-headed and stubborn.
First, he handed Lauren’s pouch to Jason. And instead of talking to her, he picked her up to carry her. His right arm was under her legs and his other hand was supporting her back.
Since Lauren was already feeling dizzy, she just let Kaizer do what he was doing. She put her arms around Kaizer's neck and looked at his serious face.
"Even in this angle, your attractiveness exudes. No doubt many girls would fall for that face."
Another feeling stirred inside him, but he chose to ignore it. He casually looked at her and smirked.
"Even you?" he teasingly asks.
Lauren could feel the redness of her cheeks.
'The effect of alcohol really hits differently.’ She murmurs to herself.
Lauren chose not to answer the man’s question. She never knew if the answer she might say was the truth or only due to the influence of the alcohol that she drank.
It's been so long since someone has been so kind to her. And maybe because she was drunk, the sadness and emptiness she was feeling for the past days... hit her.
Kaizer felt Lauren tighten her hug into him.
“I hate my family," she whispers. But because Kaizer was carrying her, he still heard what the woman said.
“But you know what... I-I hate me even more. Because I can't abandon them after what they've done to me."
Kaizer just quietly listened to what she was saying.
"If I could just disappear like a bubble that would pop out in thin air… I would. I hate this kind of feeling, but... I don't know... what to do."
She looked at him.
"What about you? Do you know how to disappear without a trace? Can... can you help me, please..."
Teardrops were rolling down her cheeks, and once again... he saw her eyes. Full of pain and emptiness. Unlike earlier when her eyes were glowing and shining, the version of her right now was like broken glass.
He could feel the pain in her voice.
When they arrived at the stateroom, she noticed that the woman had already fallen asleep.
He gently tucked her into the bed for her to rest properly. It would be better if Lauren had someone beside her at those times because if they went straight to Lauren’s room and left the woman alone, he wouldn't be at ease for the whole night especially after hearing what she said earlier.

.
Lauren knew that something was amiss when she woke up the next day.
'ugh... what the hell happened last night
Lauren could only hold her head due to the pain she was feeling. Touching her head that was aching, she roamed her eyes around the unfamiliar room.
She could tell that it wasn't her room. Her cabin room was an ordinary one, unlike this room wherein there's a glass wall where you can see the vast blue ocean once you wake up.
'Kaizer probably didn't sell me to anyone, did he?'
She wondered if maybe she did something bad to the man last night.
Lauren tries to remember what happened last night but nothing really enters her mind. Only Kaizer carrying her is the last thing she remembers.

"Even in this angle, your attractiveness exudes. No doubt many girls would fall for that face."
"Even you?" he teasingly asks.
*
That's all she remembers about what they talked about.
She also brought her pouch where her room card was. It’s impossible that Kaizer didn’t see that.
Lauren also noticed that she was now wearing a different set of clothes. She's now wearing a mint green floral dress. But she didn't know if she had changed clothes last night or if someone else had dressed her.
Enduring the headache she was feeling, she forced herself to get up to leave the room.
When she got out of the room, the familiar living room in that cabin suite welcomed her. She roamed her eyes around until he saw Kaizer in the dining area.
Then again… He quietly reads documents while drinking coffee.
Lauren slowly walked closer to the man.
“Jason, heat the soup and bring it here." Kaizer casually commanded but it made Lauren startled.
She was surprised because he suddenly talked. It caught her off guard that she suddenly put her hand on her chest. She could feel her heartbeat pounding.
“I won't drink ever again," Lauren complained the moment she sat on the chair.
“Of course, that would never happen again," Kaizer remarks in agreement with what she had said.
He was looking at her with seriousness on his face. Lauren suddenly felt nervous.
‘Omg, it looks like I did something he didn't like…'
“Ah... hehe, regarding last night, "Lauren started the conversation as she played with her finger to somehow get rid of the nervousness in her chest. But the case is, the way Kaizer looked at her made her feel even more nervous.
“C-could you just forget what happened last night?"
‘I promise, I'll be good from now on. After this, I won't really drink again! Lord, help me get through this.’
"What if I don't want to do that? What will you do?"
He tried not to remember what Lauren said last night, but now, in front of him… is the woman saying to forget it all. If that's easy to do, then he could have forgotten it and buried it in his sleep… but no, it’s not that easy.
Lauren could only massage her temple. She still couldn’t remember anything that happened last night. Her head was already in pain, and here Kaizer is, adding to the pain she was feeling. She just wanted to go back to sleep.
Jason arrived and placed the chicken soup in front of Lauren that Kaizer cooked himself for her. After that, he left the two alone.
“Eat first."
A few minutes passed between them. Lauren silently eats the soup when she thought of telling Kaizer the truth.
She sat up straight and made a fake cough to get his attention. He put down the documents to focus on her.
“The truth is, I don’t remember what happened last night." Lauren could only scratch her nape due to embarrassment after telling the truth.
Lauren could feel that Kaizer was less terrifying right now. The tense atmosphere a while ago subsided.
‘It means that he’s glad I didn’t remember what happened last night?’ Somewhat, it made Lauren feel annoyed.
“So you're telling me right now, you don't remember what you did to me last night?"
Lauren’s eyes widened at what he said.
He was grinning while looking at her, so she unconsciously hugged herself.
He places his elbow on top of the table and touches his palm while looking intently at her.
“W-what are you talking about?" she nervously asks.
“Why would I tell you? You're eager to forget everything, right?" He teasingly remarks.
‘Forget what I said earlier about being good. I’m sorry if I will beat someone today, I can’t force myself to be nice to this man. What a pain!’ Lauren murmurs to herself before holding onto her aching head again.Download Novelah App
