JENNIFER'S STORY: 4
Jennifer's POV
"With your facial expression, I guess I'm going to die before you spill." Eliora teased.
We were seated in her living room, on the long armchair. She had earlier sent Rina to school since Romans wanted her to start from creche.
"What I'm going to tell you now, will make you go mad." I said and adjusted closer to her.
"You are getting me scared." she rolled her eyes at me anxiously.
"Desmond is the owner of the city park." I spilled bluntly and her gaze increased on me in astonishment.
"That's a lie." she shook her head.
"Yeah, I didn't want to believe it too but he proved it." I informed her.
"How?" her mouth formed a quick circle with her eyes begging for my response.
"I saw the documents and the staff were all over the place, greeting him courteously." I explained to her everything I saw that morning making sure I missed no detail, she was engrossed in my description.
"This is incredible." these were the next statement that escaped from her mouth.
"I mean this is blessing in disguise." she nodded vividly with a smile on her face.
"He almost fooled us with his poor standard and all of it. No one thought he could be this rich." she said.
"I swear, I'm also very happy. Now there won't be any contradiction in our relationship." I said in excitement and she nodded.
"And your parents? Have you told them about it?" She raised a brow.
"Not yet. He also engaged me yesterday!" I flashed my hand on the air and she gasped in shock.
"Why am I getting all these news late?" she cried out fringing sadness and I laughed.
"It was a surprise. Everything was a surprise and I had no idea about it." I informed her.
"Desmond is more serious than I thought. He was so in love with you even when I tried to push him away from you that you were engaged to Romans." she sighed heavily.
"Maybe, everything was fated to be this way. I mean our collision, my breakup and everything." I said with a small smile resting on my lips.
"You need to tell your parents about this though, you have nothing to be afraid of anymore." she convinced me softly.
"Right? He already invited my parents out on a date, so I guess things might work out just fine." I said.
"Oh right. I wish you luck, Romans will be so happy to hear this." she smiled.
"I will leave now. I don't have much time on my side." I stood up from the armchair and she followed suit.
"Me too, I have to pick my baby from school. It's always an hour or two lessons." she informed me while grabbing her car key.
We left the room while discussing indistinctly.
My neck bones were all straightened as a result of nervousness, I scanned the room every minute and when Desmond locked gaze with me, I would squeeze out a smile.
He grabbed my hands on the table and squeezed them softly.
"Everything is going to be fine." he whispered to me.
Soon, I saw my parents approaching us and I pulled my hands away from his.
"You better hurry and tell us what you have to say." my father rebuked immediately before taking his seat.
They took their seat across from us.
"What is it that you have to say?" my mum broke the silence.
"Thank you so much for coming, Mr. and Mrs. Aniston." he said.
"I have engaged your daughter and I want to marry her." he said vividly with a serious eyes staring at them.
"What? Are you insane?" my dad was taken aback by his words.
"I think he is sick." my mum shook his head.
"That's because I have what it takes to marry your daughter, since that is what you care about than your daughter's happiness." he said confidently with no fear lingering in his voice.
"And what could that be?" my dad raised a sly brow at him.
He expected nothing from a broke old man and was already pissed for coming here. His disdainfully eyes already sold him out.
Desmond hit the documents on the table and I shivered in shock at the abrupt sound that unintentionally broke my train of thoughts.
"What is this?" my mother reached out for it and he pinned his finger on it.
He locked gaze with my parents.
"This is a document that determines your daughter's fate." he said before removing his finger from it.
My father ripped it off impatiently as he brought out the files.
I saw the astonishment and bizarre stare in his eyes immediately he saw the content. My mother's mouth trembled endlessly as they narrowed their eyes back to him.
"You... you are the owner of the city park?" my father suddenly lost his courage and voice, I smirked inwardly but for some reasons, I was sad.
They wouldn't have agreed if he doesn't have money, which is really embarrassing and bad.
"Yes." he nodded. "Does that mean I can marry your daughter?" he asked scornfully.
"That's... that's not it." my mum stuttered.
"Then, what is it?" he raised a brow.
"We want our child's happiness but we can't let her get married to a poor man, right?" she curled her lips nervously and my dad let out a creepy smile.
"So, when is the date for the wedding?" he pushed the documents back to Desmond.
"Is that an approval?" he asked impatiently.
"Yes. We accept you as our daughter's husband and would love you to push the wedding forward." my dad nodded his head vividly.
"So, he he didn't have this much wealth or money; you wouldn't have accepted him... yes?" I asked them not withstanding as sadness took over my face.
"Babe, you don't have to worry about what they think. The truth is that I love you whether you were treated like a commodity or not." He paused and brushed the hair away from my face.
"I love you genuinely and want to spend my entire life with you." We lock our eyes as I swallowed nervously.
At least he wasn't getting married to me as a deal, just as my parents wanted.
"I love you too, Dessy. Thanks for saving me." I smiled and my parents cleared their throat, disrupting our wonderful moment.
We faced them.
"Have you chosen a date yet?" my mum raised a brow staring at me.Download Novelah App
