Chapter 47

It was already getting dark. We were quiet for a moment until Zophiel suddenly appeared in the middle of the living room. He stood for a moment and when he was about to hit the ground, we ran towards him to catch his fall. He coughed up blood and let out a groan. “Zophiel, what happened?” Azriel asked, his voice was worried.
He coughed one more time, “Bernael, she found us lurking outside her hideout. She has Elliot, too.”
“Elliot? Skinwalker Elliot?” Merikh tried to confirm it.
He nodded and then coughed up more blood. “What did she want?” I asked.
“She wants you. She said if you won’t give yourself to her, she’ll take you herself and come here,” he groaned in pain, clutching his stomach. Merikh took his hands off his belly and opened his bloodied shirt, only to find his stomach open. It seems like he’s been tortured, his wounds are still fresh. The worst part is I can see what seems to be his intestine. He asked Azriel to just kill him, take him out of his misery. Azriel looked down first then nodded. Merikh helped Azriel carry Zophiel outside, while Collin and I just looked from the window, watching them from the inside. Azriel bowed down his head, Merikh handed him his sword then his brother plunges his sword to their younger brother’s heart. Then we saw Raphael appear, talking to both of them. He places a hand on Azriel’s shoulder then two other angels carry Zophiel’s body away and they disappeared with Raphael.
Azriel and Merikh went back inside. Merikh sat on the couch again, taking a deep sigh as he watched his brother scratch his head and lean his head on the cold glass of the window. “What’s your plan, Azriel?” he finally asked, “we cannot just stay here and do nothing when our brother has been tortured by your ex-lover no less.”
“I don’t know, okay! I have no fucking clue on how to stop her! We might as well just let her come here.”
“We’ll take the fight to her,” I said while looking out the window.
“What? No! Mia you can’t –“
“It’s the only way,” I cut Azriel off, “whatever she wants, we’ll know it if I just go there and –“
“No,” Merikh cuts me off, “you’re not going to sacrifice yourself again! I won’t let you!”
“I agree with Merikh here, Mia,” Collin chimed in.
“And who the hell told you this is even up for discussion?” I walked away from the living room, grabbing my duffel from the closet near the front door. “Are you three coming or are you just gonna stand there?” I shouted as I opened the front door and walked over to the truck.
***
Collin, Merikh, and Azriel looked at each other as they hear Mia walk out of the front door. “This isn’t a good idea,” Collin told the two brothers, “I am getting a really bad feeling about this.”
“Same,” agreed Azriel, “but this is Mia we’re talking about. She’s not going to take no for an answer. Not this time.”
The three of them told Rory and Russo that they’ll be going to Bernael. They tried stopping them but Mia’s already in the truck and just assured Rory that they will be back complete.
Mia drove the truck and the three of them were quiet. They wanted to communicate telepathically but Mia will hear it too and they’re afraid that she might do this by herself. Azriel, knowing Bernael, knows if Mia charged to her hideout on her own, she’ll tear her apart without any second thoughts.
They arrived outside Luna Pier. The place is completely abandoned. It was either the people living there ran away from the apocalypse or Bernael blew all of them up, just like she always does. The buildings have crumbled, there was fire everywhere – dumpsters, potholes, burning buildings – it looked like the town became the new Hell.
Mia drove in circles, already a bit frustrated for not getting even a single vibe of where she is. She stops the truck on the side of the road, just near the crossroad where they entered. “Okay,” she sighed, “let’s just walk from here.”
She turned off the engine and got out of the truck. She went to the back to grab her duffel and some other weapon she finds useful. The three of them got out of the truck when she finished getting her bag and her weapons. She handed Collin an extra machete, Azriel checked his sword, and Merikh took his staff out of the backseat before closing the door.
The four of them went on their way.
***
We walked around to find any building or house that seemed out of place, but we couldn’t find any. I led the three of them to a dark alley, “stay here,” I commanded.
“Why? What are you going to do?” Collin looked me straight in the eye then he realized what I was going to do. “Mia, no! Don’t fucking do this!”
“It’s not your call. None of the three of you. This is mine,” I sternly said, “just stay here. Please. Just, just be my lookout, alright?” without waiting for an answer, I turned my back and walked in the middle of the street.
The dark of night made the glow of every fire in the town a spooky vibe. Standing here by myself, I took a deep sigh.
“Bernael!” I started yelling. I saw Merikh and Azriel about to walk out of the alley but Collin stopped them. “Bernael!” I shouted again, “come out, you fucking bitch! I’m right here!”
I slowly walked away from where I was standing and stopped where the trio can still see me.
“Well, well,” a female voice from behind me said, I spun around to face her. I see a very pretty woman with straight black hair. Her eyes were hazel but the light of the fire around makes it, somehow, golden. Ironically, this bitch is wearing a red top and black faux leather pants with heeled ankle boots, also in black. “This is very bold of you, Mia. Coming here to my office. By yourself, might I add. Unless,” she snaps her fingers then the three of them appeared by my side, then she smiled. “I knew you got these three yahoos around,” then her eyes shifted to Azriel, “hi babe. Missed me?”
“You wish,” Azriel made a snarky remark towards his ex. She shrugged her shoulders then his eyes turned to Merikh and Collin, “wow, Mer. From the righteous angel to a fallen one. I heard the stories. Didn’t take much to murder your sister, huh? And Collin! My, my. Angel looks real good on you,” she eyed him from head to toe and slightly bit her lower lip. Was she flirting with Collin?
“Anyway, here’s the deal. Hand over the Nephilim, you get away. Scratch-free, plus, maybe a little something else too?” she said, trying to convince them to leave me.
“But if we fight?” Merikh asked.
“If you fight, then, you’re just going to lose. I mean, I am the fallen angel of darkness and evil. And the Queen.”
“Queen?” I snickered, “queen of what? Queen of being a two-faced bitch? Or maybe, you’re the Queen of Pettiness.”
She suddenly appeared right in front of me, placing her hand around my neck. “I am the Queen of Hell,” she glared at me.
I was choking but managed to chuckle, “no, you’re not.”
She tightened her grip, I can feel my feet getting higher from the ground and I coughed. “Let her go, Bernael,” Merikh demanded, “now.”
She lets go of me, I dropped to the ground, catching my breath. Azrael and Collin moved towards me. She walked over to Merikh then she looked in his eyes then she laughed, “oh my G– I knew it!” then her gaze shifted to me then back to him, “you two fucked. A Nephilim and a demon. Are you two trying for a Cambion? ‘Cause I’m gonna need one,” she was smiling. Kind of amused by what she found out.
“Then why don’t you fuck one yourself?” I replied as Azriel and Collin helped me up.
Her smile disappeared. “I can’t reproduce,” she said as a matter of fact, “as a succubus, I only get to fuck a human but I cannot get pregnant, besides with your angelic grace and him being a demon might make a much powerful Cambion. A powerful anti-Christ. Who knows, he might become the next President.”
She turned and walked away from us. Collin was about to attack her when she raised her hand, stopping him. She glances at him and smiles, “really, new guy? You want the first slice?”
She snapped her fingers and Collin drops dead. “No!” I shrieked.
The look on Azriel and Merikh’s faces was terror-struck. My temper rose, “you fucking bitch!” I yelled at her.
“Ah, ah, ah,” she raised her hand again, “take one more step and I’ll kill all of you. I am kind of getting uncomfortable right now.”
She snaps her fingers and the town turned into a dark room that has some kind of throne in front where she sat down. She stretched her arms on the armrest, like a cat stretching after a nap. She took a deep breath, “this is so much better. Now, where were we?”
She smiled as Collin still lay cold on the ground.

This story reminded me of Supernatural and Constantine, with its blend of supernatural elements and thrilling action. At first, I was skeptical, but the author's reveal was flabbergasting, leaving me eager for more. Your word choices are exquisite, enriching my vocabulary. The writing is so clear and engaging, even when I was sleepy, I could visualize the scenes. This is a true masterpiece! I was gripped from start to finish, shocked by every twist. I crave more of this world.
