Chapter 12 GOOD LIE

"Mommy, where are you going?" Avriell was playing with her toys but looked confused. "Can I come?"
I tied my hair in a single way before approaching her. I sat in front of her and fixed hee clothes before shaking my head. She can't come, that's his father's strong reminder to me. I need to focus and if Avriell is on my side, it will totally distract me. And at the same time, Trina was here to take care of her, she would be bored if she would come to us.
"No, you will stay here with aunt Trina. You need to take care of her, her wound is still not that okay, take care of her for me, okay? I will go back quickly, I promise." I smiled at her as I caressed her cheek.
Trina is already downstairs preparing something for us to eat even if I said she just stayed on her bed and rested. It's good that I pleased her to stay here with Avriell for now. I don't want her to leave because first her wounds haven't healed yet and it was my fault and I need her a lot.
She nodded to me. "But mommy, I didn't see daddy. Where is he? He didn't sleep with us?"
I was about to answer her question when someone knocked on the door that took our attention. I didn't notice that it was already open. He was standing on the right side of the door and smiling at Avriell.
"Are you looking at me?" He asked.
Avriell immediately stood up and came closer to her so fast. I badly wanted to scold her because of her running towards her father, she was so excited. When she was finally in front of Clyden, she raised her both hands asking her dad to lift her up. Without question, Clyden does it.
"Daddy can we play?" Avriell asked with a big smile.
"Of course but later, daddy and your mom need something to do." He nodded to her before looking at me. "The breakfast is already ready, let's go."
When he stares back at Avriell, his smile comes back. They went downstairs and left me here and so before I went down too I just fixed some of Avriell's toys before following them. When I came down, everything was ready, the food, the things needed for eating and so on, it was like I was the only one they were waiting for. Dan was also here who is next to Trina, while Avriell is on the side of her father. My daughter gestured to me to sit beside her on the other side. I smiled at her and did what she wanted, that was the only vacant seat though.
I put food to Avriell's plate first before mine. I looked at my daughter when I saw that she was not touching the food I gave, I was confused because I knew she liked the food I put in. She was just looking at Clyden, when her dad noticed it, his brow started to curve to Avriell. He doesn't know why Avriell is looking at her like asking for something.
"Why? Do you need anything?" He asked her.
Avriell nodded twice. "Can you feed me, daddy?"
I saw her explanation turned into thinking what she could say as an explanation why Clyden needed to feed her like a baby. Avriell never asked me to do it because I know she doesn't like it, she preferred eating it on her own so I was surprised when she suddenly asked her daddy for that matter. I feel jealous, Avriell was unfair this time.
"Can you?" Avriell repeated again when Clyden didn't talk and just stared at her. "My hand was busy …..playing, daddy."
When we all looked at her hand, we all couldn't stop ourselves from laughing. Her right hand was playing with her left hand. Yeah, it's so busy. Clyden nodded and stepped aside his food before getting Avriell's plate closer to her.
"Thank you daddy!" Her smile was so precious.
I couldn't stop smiling when I saw how happy Avriell was to see and be with her dad. She just stared at her face while admiring it so much. It was like she wanted to memorize every single side of her dad's face. What mother am I to stop Avriell feeling that completely with her father which she deserves so much? Somehow it seems that I was correct in letting and agreeing on the contract that he offered me even though I have a little fear that I wrongly trusted Clyden.
"Are you going to him mommy?" I don't know but I saw a teasing smile on Avriell's face. "You are going out on a date with daddy?"
I was surprised by what she suddenly said. I looked at Clyden who was now also looking at me. He came closer and whispered.
"You said that we are going on a date?" He asked.
"Of course not," I snorted softly and pushed him away to get closer to Avriell. "No, we just need to do some stuff. Who told you that?"
She looked around and suddenly stopped on Trina who was already hiding to the back of Dan. Dan was pushing her irritatedly, his clothes were getting messy because of her. I looked at Trina mad because she was just annoyed at me yesterday because I chose to go with Clyden and now she was saying to my daughter that we were having a date? I will not let that happen.
"Yeah. We were going out of date, I will date your mom." Clyden suddenly said to stop me staring at Trina. He also approached Avriell which caused me to look at him with a sharp stare.
He kissed my daughter's forehead which was now smiling so wide. "So you will stay here for this day, to your aunt Trina, understood?"
Avriell immediately nodded. "But promise me, you will let me come on your next date, okay?"
"Absolutely," Clyden assured her.
She kisses her dad and me before approaching Trina. Trina was giving me an apologize smile, she gestured too that they were going upstairs. I just nodded and let them go so we could leave.
"Don't tell me you will leave me here?" Dan looks begging to Clyden and so he can go with us. "That woman was hard to talk to, I don't want to stay here with her please."
Clyden didn't respond yet when Trina shouted from upstairs.
"Leave that one named Dan, no one will wash the dishes!" Trina shouted.
I can't stop looking at Dan, refraining my laugh from coming out.
"See, she was out of her mind." Dan washed his face. "Don't leave me here with that girl, have mercy on me. I can't do this, I swear I will choose to go to jail than be here."
Clyden tapped his shoulder. "Patience Dan, we need to go. You can't go on us, be without them here. Take care of them."
Clyden came out first, I left here seeing the pouty face of Dan. I want to feel sorry for Dan because of Trina's attitude towards him.
"Trina is nice, just talk to her properly so she can answer you properly too. She's nice, sometimes no but… just handle it or ignore it, just get along well with her and you absolutely understand her." I suggested it to him.
"I talk to him properly, that's what I do." He thought about their conversation. "I asked her if she needed help to serve food but she answered me that she didn't need a boyfriend and so on. She was already in a situation where I was going to cheat her! Like, oh my god! That was foul, I never asked her to be my girlfriend and I don't have plans to court her either!"
I just gave him a worried smile before turning my back to him and waving my hand. I couldn't help shaking my head and laughing softly because of what he said. Trina never experienced having a boyfriend so I think she is just overreacting like that. When I went into the car, Clyden's eyebrows raised looking at me. I mocked his stare before closing the door.
"What?" I looked at him from the front mirror.
"Did you know that you are the only one who makes me wait and now sitting at the back making me your driver?" There was anger in his voice. "You sit here in front."
I stiffened and shook my head. "I don't care and don't look at me like that, I should be the one who looks at you mad because you're destroying my parenting to Avriell."
He turned to me. "What? Destroying your parenting?"
"Yes, did you know that I never lied to her?" I looked at him bravely, talking about the date he said to my daughter.
"Never lie? Oh so that's why Avriell doesn't know about me if I haven't introduced myself to her?" He talked back.
"T-That was a v-valid reason!" I tried to defend myself.
"Still a lie." He emphasized and shook his head before returning his gaze to the front. "And after your training I can offer you a date, if that makes you stop being guilty of that lie. You're a good parent right? Now move here, don't wait for me to lift you up like a baby to just move here in front.
I swallowed and looked to the side to avoid his eyes on me before moving out to go in front. "Sometimes it's good to lie...for good."
