Chapter Thirty Seven.
I had one question.
What really is the content of that book? It must have been important really for Rhea to seek and for Crystal to recommend it.
But I was stuck, figuratively because one minute I gloriously found the book all safe and sound and the next minute I was standing in Rheas word room according to what she calls it. Screw that it would be better off as a torture room. With the obvious reason that immediately she brought me in, I was held down to a seat and invisible chains were on my legs and hands while I couldn't see them there made clanging sounds when I so much as try to remove it. Which was useless because not only were there invisible but there were also enchanted.
The word room was not quite bad. It was surprisingly beautiful? With a chandelier hanging by her table ceiling. White marble floor and white walls. I also sighted a white owl by the corner of the room. It was safe to say white was her favorite colour. Aside from the table that seemed to be where she does all the work, the room was quite empty. It was indeed a word room.
" What are you playing at?" I snapped. I wasn't liking this whole arrangement.
" Oh no, no dear. I'm not playing. Like I said I have a favour to ask of you." She chimed. Finding the whole situation excited.
Sick bitch.
" I don't do favours for people I do not like." I spat.
" You don't like me?" She feigned pain by putting a hand to her chest like that piece of information would kill her or some shit. She straighten laughing out. " Nothing more gives me the thrill than the fact that you don't like me. I mean my whole work would be in vain if you did."
She was definitely not okay.
" Let's get this over with. Just tell me what you want!" I ordered.
" It's very simple. You see I made a discovery a few days ago and I'm all excited about it but I need a hand to actualize that goal."
Where was she going with this.
" Everything is ready and set but there's one last ingredient. You."
" Excuse you. I don't understand why and how I'm included in your sick science experiments."
" I need a little ancient magic and as the seed of one of the purest blood you are my chosen one. I mean you're the only one around. I could use your father but his energy core is at its weakest. He's magic is useless to me now."
How dare she talk about my father like some kind of object. Some kind of weakling. She made him this way. She destroyed him. She took everything away from him. She took him away from me. I grew up without a father to teach me all I needed to know about myself and powers. I couldn't talk about my mom because of her. I grew up hating myself because I thought I was a jinx that killed her mother without even wanting to be in this said world. The whole confusion of my life started with Rhea. It's like everything I think was always planned by her. The whole situation of my life was about her. Even this moment was about her. Our whole situation right then was about her and she was doing it again. That thing were she spoils my life and leave me confused and hurt.
I wasn't gonna let that happen.
"Did you ever have a father?" I mumbled. My head down and heaven knows I wanted so much to smash her skull to the wall and watch her brain give it a whole tale.
She glared and I could see the red in her eyes that told me enough before I could get my answer.
" He was a coward." She snarled.
" I don't care what he was but did you have one? Apparently you act like one who never did. Like you one mighty fool who thinks life is always messed up. Well news flash life may suck at some point but not always. You are fucking people's lives right now and you think you are different from your father." I shouted.
She blasted me and my head was suddenly spinning in a many swirls. I have not eaten for what, one week? I shouldn't expect less. She ambled towards me. She was having the moment of her life watching me pant for breath. She glared down at me as she finally approached. I could tell Rhea wanted to end me already. But her big dreams wouldn't let her. She grabbed my cheek in a very malicious manner.
" You don't know anything. You don't know what's it's like to be the tail. Always at the bottom. Always among the not right. Always. Always. Always." She exclaimed releasing my cheek harshly. She held her head like she spotting some serious migraine.
" I've had enough of your questions. Enough of your nonsense." She yelled again.
This was painful to watch.
" My powers can't help you. I don't even know to harness the fullness of it." I explained.
" Who said anything about you harnessing the fullness. I only need your energy core."
" What shit are you creating? Haven't you done enough? Oh no wait you still haven't reached the peak of your madness. All this for what? Your little mummy, daddy problem? Everyone gets that at some point. Everyone.."
I was cut off by a harsh slap from Rhea. Then another. Then another until I could taste the metallic taste of blood that gushed from my lips from the impact of the slaps.
She summoned what I recognized to be an enchanted egg. It was greater in size than any normal egg and it's colour was green. I could feel the source of life inside of it. Something was inside. Something was growing.
" What is that?"
" My latest creation!"
" And what am I to do with it?" I demanded.
" Just touch it!" She replied. Levitating the egg so that I was now I'm front of me.
" No way. I'm going to do that. Whatever it is, it's no good! It will only being harm to my people."
"Your people? What people?"
"Why are you doing this? You don't need this much to take over the Astral realm!" I reasoned.
" Who said anything about taking over only the Astral realm. I want all of the underworld. Everything. I want to make the source understand that they made a mistake when they created me worthless. I am creation."
" None of this can help you. Who will you rule when you kill everyone in the realms?"
" Like you saw in my lab, those babies inside those incubator will be my generation. My people."
She giggled.
Someone please make her shut up
She vanished to stand behind me and she melted the chains around my wrist. I groaned at the stung it left on me. I thought fast to strike her a fireball so I could at least leave the room and hide somewhere.
But she was faster.
She grabbed my hands and placed it on the egg. I struggled to take my hands off it but I couldn't, because the the egg was already illuminating and I was immediately consumed with a heaviness on my shoulder. One that pulled the energy out of me. I was in such pain. My head was pounding with sounds of mighty drums and my eyes couldn't focus anymore.
What was this thing?
It seemed to have lasted a million years and that was when she decided to stop. She pulled my hands out and a sound emitted from the egg. It was more like the screeching of a car tire but more obscene. It was deafening. Gratefully the sound stopped as fast as it came.
I collapsed to the chair. I was drained. I couldn't lift a finger. My muscles were numb and I could hear my grumbling stomach.
" That wasn't so hard!" Rhea chimed.
I glared at her walking to her seat.
Dismissing the egg. She smirked and sat down. Placing her hands on the table and leaning towards them.
" By tomorrow it should hatch. So many great things will be achieved tomorrow." She sighed happily, leaning into the chair. " Oh no don't look at me like that. Be happy for me."
No response.
" I should send you back now to your family. Don't get all rusty with me!"
One last question.
" How is your search for the moon goddess?" I inquired.
" Why do you want to know?"
" Nothing."
" She's a coward. She'll come out. I know this for sure!"
Yeah damn right she will.
She clicked her fingers and I was off to wherever she sent me which was thankfully the lab room. I wasn't standing when I arrived. No. I was sprawled out on the floor in the middle of everyone, like a corpse. I felt hands on my shoulder and I knew who they belonged to. Hadrian. He pulled me into his arm and he kissed my forehead.
" You did great! You got the book!" He whispered sweetly.
I smiled.
" She needs an hour to rest before anything. Whatever Rhea did to her, it messed with her energy core." That was Storm.
" .... thing... No good..." I tried telling them but it all came out wrong.
" Shhhh. Don't say anything." Hadrian pleaded.
I simply nodded.
*""""""""""""**
It was more than an hour I rested but I woke up with a huge headache and everyone was wide awake.
No one actually slept.
" We don't have much time!" I cried.
" Luna are you okay?" Hadrian asked.
" I'm okay. Just tired."
" What do you mean?" Zuka questioned.
" She used my energy to awaken something. A creature. "
" What creature?" Storm deemanded.
" It's a plaque. A creature of the night. Something evil." Shelby explained.
" I could sense it. I think something is happening tomorrow."
" Yes. She once told us that she'll be turning on the night of a blood moon." Shelby informed.
" I'm sorry did I miss something? Turn into what exactly?" Zuka deemanded.
" Into a full witch!" King Asteroid replied.
" Wait she wasn't that already?"
" No Zuka. She could use some spell but Luna's blood she can become a witch with the powers of a pure blood."
" Luna?
" Hadrian called. I turned to him. " If tomorrow is the day she turns then that only means tomorrow is the day she plans to sacrifice you to gain her powers."
" Yes. That's why I said we don't have time. Where's the book?" I requested.
Storm brought it forward and I took it from him. As I placed my hands on the cover it opened automatically but there was nothing inside, except from the blank pages.
" Anyone knows how to use this book? I mean is it supposed to be blank?" I questioned.
" It was owned and sealed by the moon goddess herself!" Darren thought out loud. " Which apparently is you..and the book has been sealed for so many years"
" Your point is?"
" According to the sages rule only blood can unlock such seal. The blood of the sealer!" He explained.
I felt Hadrian hands on my shoulder and I hear him silently asking are you sure about this?
"I'll be fine." I said telepathically.
He's eyes grew wide. He hadn't thought I would hear him. I guess my powers were improving more than I thought.
I summoned my dagger and gave myself a cut in the palm as I let my blood drop to the first page of the book.
Nothing happened for the first few seconds until the book illuminated and the light from it was so great that it stabbed mine and everyone eyes around.
But this wasn't a normal light. It was a collective light, one that pulled my soul. My head became too heavy and my eyes rolled. I knew this feeling.
It was that feeling I get before a vision and this time it worse and I suddenly gasped from the pain.
The last I felt was the warmth that filled my body as I fell into Hadrian's arms unconscious.
The environment was quite different from my other visions.
Everywhere was foggy and cold but at the same time very endearing. I walked for long trying to figure out where I was but nothing seemed familiar. I wasn't even walking on land. It almost felt as if I was jumping on clouds.
" Welcome back, old friend!" A voice called.
And like an old memory replaying in my head, I knew what it was.
It was the source.
