Chapter 13: Leukemia

ELEANOR MIA POV
I don't know how long I can count the days that have passed, and if I count, I know that a week has passed. He promised that he would return to his son and me in a month, but a month and a week have passed, and he has no clue.
I can't help but wonder about my feelings over the past month. Sometimes I get dizzy and vomit, and I also notice that I am greedy for food and that my stomach is a bit bigger, but I just thought that maybe it was because I ate too much.
I will also go to the hospital later to get a check-up because sometimes I also have nosebleeds without realizing it. In other parts of my body, I noticed bruises, and I don't know why. I also felt that I was slowly dying.

"Mom, are you okay? Why are you so pale?" Percy asked while we were sitting here at a table in the garden of the mansion.
"Don't worry about me son, maybe I'm okay because I just miss your daddy," I said softly and looked at the tulips in the garden and the roses because the breeze was also beautiful.
"Mom, don't keep daddy's promise to you look, it's been a week since he said he’ll return in a month but he's still not here, and he hasn't even called." He said with a frown, I just messed up his hair because of what he said.
My brain tells me not to expect him to come back, but my heart doesn't want to let go and keeps telling me to wait a little while longer because I know he will come back to us.
"Mom, you said you were going to the hospital, I want to go." Percy.
"Children are not allowed there, it's better to just stay here at home and play with the maids here, they'll be nice, you're the only one who is rude." I laughed at him.
"It's almost noon I have to leave, behave son while I'm away." He nodded to what I said so I stood up and started to walk the way to the inside of the mansion because that was the only way I could go to get out of the mansion.
Time passed, and I got out of the car because I was already in front of the hospital, I just walked slowly inside because I felt like my knee was going to give out because of the dizziness I was feeling earlier.
When I entered the hospital, I immediately went to the counter where a nurse was assisting those who asked questions. I approached there and asked a nurse.
"Miss, where is the check-up area?" I asked her.
"Ah ma'am, just stand in line with the five in line because they will also have to check up with the doc and please just list your names here so I can give them to the doc." She said that's why I did what she said before sitting in another row who was also sitting in the chairs on the side.
I leaned back on the chair and closed my eyes because my eyes felt like they were spinning when I opened them, and I was accompanied by people passing in front of me who also felt sick from the smell of the hospital.
I don't know how many minutes I closed my eyes and I just heard my name being called.
"Miss Eleanor Mia Aberra." I opened my eyes when I heard my name and stood up before entering the room. As soon as I entered, I felt the coldness of the air conditioner.
"Miss Aberra, please take a seat." Said a not-quite-old lady doctor. I walked to her table and sat in front of her before smiling at her, and I knew my lips were pale.

"So what do you want me to check up on, miss?" She asked me calmly.
"I'm just going to check up on what I feel," I said with a weak voice.
"Can you tell me what your feelings are, Miss?" She said that's why I nodded to her before speaking.
"Doc, I'm always dizzy and nauseous, then I noticed my weight loss and paleness, and sometimes my nose would just bleed without me realizing it," I said with a weak voice.
"Come on miss, lie down here first and let me see your stomach on the monitor." She said and led me to a bed next to the monitor.
As soon as I was lying there, she immediately lifted my dress and inserted what she was holding into my dress, which she had previously put like jelly on.
Later I felt the cold in my stomach and with the movement of her hand while looking at the monitor I saw her smile.
"What is that, doc?" I asked her.
"Miss, can you see her on the monitor? That's a baby, which means there's a child slowly forming in your stomach." When I heard that, my tears started to flow. I couldn't imagine that the final unification of our bodies with Reigo would bear fruit.
"I'm happy for you, Miss, but we shouldn't stop because I have something else to make sure of as you said earlier." She said so I nodded.
"I need to take blood from you so I can check it." I nodded to what she said and she took an injection and started taking blood from my arm while I was still lying down.
"You can get up and sit there first, wait for me because I will first check the results of your blood in the laboratory." I just nodded.
When she came out, I immediately took a nap on her table and made my arm a pillow. I just closed my eyes but I'm not asleep, I'm just resting because of the feeling. When I put my head on my arm, I felt something dripping from my nose.
I immediately raised my head because blood was dripping from my nose again, I just took a tissue from the Doctor's table named Rae because that is the name written on her name table in front.
I stared at the ceiling for a few minutes when the door suddenly opened and I knew that’s Dr. Rae.
"Are you okay? I'm sorry it took me so long." She said and sat in her seat earlier. I looked at her while she was holding an envelope. And it looks like those are the results of the blood she took from me earlier.
"It looks like you've had a nosebleed again and that's normal for someone with leukemia." She said calmly.
"What is leukemia Dr. Rae?” I asked her curiously.
"You don't know anything about this disease, but I will explain it properly, and don't be surprised." I didn't move and waited for what she had to say next.
"Cancers of the blood cells are collectively referred to as leukemia. The type of blood cell that develops into cancer and how rapidly or slowly it grows determine the type of leukemia. Leukemia is most common in people over the age of 55, but it can also happen to people your age right now. It is also the most common cancer in children under the age of 15.”
I'm just listening to what she says.
"And the common symptoms of leukemia are having bruises on the body even though you know you have no reason to be bruised."
"Also the weakness and sudden bleeding from the nose, and that's what's happening to you now."
"You also said that you noticed you were losing weight and that it was because of you." She said.
"Is my disease bad? I’m not gonna die right?” I asked her, scared and trembling and tears gradually fell from my eyes.
"Don't cry, right now your disease is just starting and you have a choice." She said and I can see the pity in her eyes.
"W-what is that, doc? I will do it." I said softly to her.
"You need to choose between yourself and the baby in your womb." When she said that word, I got weak and couldn't breathe because of the option she said.
"My husband...w-will be mad if I choose to kill our second child." Shaking, I said I don't want to lose our second child, I don't want him to be angry with me.
"I know how difficult it is for you to choose, but the decision is still yours if you continue your pregnancy, and you can't take medicines for your leukemia because it will harm the child in your womb."
"I will revive the child even if it costs my life, doc," I told her crying.
"Then I will give you vitamins for your pregnancy, and take care of yourself," She said and gave me a prescription for medicine that I had to buy.
When I left the door of his office, I walked out feeling weak, I didn't know what to do.
It's hard to choose, but I have to save the child even though I know my life will be at risk. When I got to the car, I immediately got in and leaned against the window and my tears did not stop falling.
The car drove back to the mansion but I felt like my brain was blank, I felt empty from everything I discovered.
