Chapter 1 Aftermath
Inside a wide room with few chairs and tables occupied by numerous people, Semfes and Alamia are standing in front of the main desk.
The woman who is having a conversation with them puts 1 small bag tied by a rope on the wooden desk.
Her calm face turns to a joyful one. "This is your combined fee for all the missions that both of you have accomplished!"
Alamia and Semfes move their faces toward each other and raise their eyebrows.
"So, is this all of it?" Alamia moves her calm, menacing eyes toward the woman, "all those missions are S-rank, and this is all the gold that we can get?"
The woman's eyes are growing wide and she looks down. "I-I'm very sorry, ma'am… our–!"
"Relax, Alamia," Semfes holds the small bag and gently moves it from side to side, "400 gold coins are not bad to sustain our needs! It's sufficient enough for us to move to another village."
The woman whose head is bent down smiles gently as her shaking eyes calm down.
She moves her head upward and her eyes grow wide upon witnessing a pair of eyes staring at her; both eyes reflecting a very harsh feeling.
"It's sufficient for us to move to another village, and receive more gold coins from doing their S-rank missions," Semfes slides the small bag inward the pocket of his upper clothing, "well, departing from this village will be our main best choice, Alamia."
Alamia looks down and cracks a smile on her lip, and she proceeds to utter soft laughs while turning around.
The woman at the desk moves her eyes to Semfes and he grins at her.
He stops smiling and raises his hands and with his fingers, he performs thumbs-
up. "Sorry, miss, I didn't mean to say that… have a good day, I guess?"
The woman nods as Semfes turns around and begins to move toward the door. From the building, Alamia and Semfes are walking beside each other while their eyes are darted forward.
Semfes begins to inhale air through his slightly loose lip. "You shouldn't have said that, she was just working for the guild."
"So now, you're implying that this was my mistake?" Alamia narrows her eyes and moves them to Semfes, "who was the person that accepted this mission without my consent?"
Semfes points his index finger to himself. "It was me, Alamia. But who came along with me?"
Alamia's eyes widen as her eyebrows curve downward, and veins begin to form on her face. "Don't you dare blame this on me! Darn you, Semfes!"
She stops moving her feet, her face contorts as she turns toward him. "You knew that you will possibly put yourself in harm's way when you accepted that mission! And I had no other choice but to protect you!
"You manipulated the situation for the sake of your advantage!"
Semfes' eyes go wide, he raises his hands and moves them toward her but she slaps his hands.
His eyes never depart from her eyes which are filled with anger. His lip begins to form words but Alamia turns around and scrambles from him.
Semfes begins to run toward her yet he ceases his feet and then begins to walk in a certain direction.
He inhales deeply. "I'm sure that she will approach me, there's no need to pursue her."
"But…" he stops walking, "I must not leave her alone!"
Thence, he raises his hands and orange lightning emerges from his fingertips. Semfes claps his hands and the orange lightning crawls all over his whole body.
His dark eyes slowly turn orange as they glow a bit. He bites his teeth and narrows his eyes in a certain direction.
"This is one of my skills," Semfes says to himself, "I have put a piece of my orange lightning within her skin, and through that orange lightning, I'll be able to track her wherever she is."
Semfes puts his hands down as the orange lightning remains to crawl all over his whole body. Hence, he travels at lightning speed in a form of orange lightning streaks moving in a certain direction.
Meanwhile, Alamia is ambling amid the people walking on certain paths. Multiple eyes are fixated on her yet she remains walking, and then multiple men sitting on the ground, laying their backs on the wall, and standing on a terrace begin to walk toward her.
Alamia closes her eyes a bit as she comes to a halt. She opens her eyes and her hands and turns in every direction as she witnesses multiple men surrounding her while scowling at her.
"Men of Pablo?" Alamia said.
All of the men begin to walk towards her as some of them are cracking the bones on their hands.
"Please me… please," she raises her
hand, "at this moment the madness starts!"
Some men fall to the ground and a fishing rod flies across them, and it lands on her hand.
Alamia begins to swing her fishing rod in every direction and its hook flies toward all the incoming men.
The fishing hook strikes them and delivers them to the wall of nearby buildings, and some of the men fall to the ground.
Alamia swings her fishing rod in another direction, and then she was pulled toward the roof of a house.
She looks down and brushes her hand on her upper clothing and then her whole body moves side to side due to a great force shaking the entire roof.
"Who are you?!" she moves her eyes upward and catches sight of a tall fat man, "if it isn't, the man himself, Pablo."
Pablo points his hand which has been replaced by a silver hook, he points it at her with a pair of mad eyes fixated on her.
He yells, "It was you and that shrimp who took all of my opportunity to earn large sums of money!"
From above, orange lightning strikes the part of the roof between Alamia and Pablo.
A bit of smoke can be seen as a part of it crawling on Semfes.
Semfes' eyes are painted with calm menacing ones and they're darted at Pablo whose eyes are staring straight into his eyes.
"Even if you have the opportunity to accept the missions that we did," he tells Pablo, "be proud that we took it instead of you."
"What?!" Pablo shook his head with his hands.
Semfes turns around and sees Alamia staring at him with drowsy eyes, hence, she shakes her shoulders.
Semfes turns toward Pablo once again, and calmly says, "You don't want to earn 400 gold coins after fighting a large wolf capable of tearing down a castle, and a large dragon drinking lava from a volcano, right?"
Pablo's eyes grow wide. "Really? They paid both of you 400 coins for the rank-S missions. They're filthy than sewers and deserve to rot in prison!"
"Right?" Semfes says, "from that very moment, I just want to wreck that place so badly!"
"May I ask?" Pablo licks his lip, "can I destroy the whole guild and run away with their money?"
"Our pleasure," Alamia said.
Semfes turns toward her with a scowl, and he turns toward Pablo and says, "No! No! No! We will not allow this to happen."
Alamia rolls her eyes and she begins to turn around and walk away whilst Semfes turns his face aside and sees her walking away.
He bites his teeth. "Oh?! You're just going to walk away like these guys are not planning to destroy the guild!"
Alamia swings her fishing rod downward while walking away, and she hops from the roof.
"Poor brat," Pablo performs his fighting stance in which his upper body is folded a bit, "ready your 400 coins for we're going to beat you so bad–!"
The pressure of the wind flows over them; the wind waves their hair, and clothes, and even removes some parts of the roof.
Semfes remains standing while releasing strong wind pressure, and orange lightning soon appears around him.
Pablo blinks and then he moves his eyes beside him and witnesses Semfes.
Pablo gulps as his bodily fluid appears on his forehead. "Well, let us explain–!"
Semfes moves his glowing orange eyes toward Pablo, and his eyes are widening as Semfes begins to move at lightning speed.
Meanwhile, Alamia is walking away from the battlefield. A strong explosion occurs on the roof of the house where Semfes and Pablo are facing.
Her eyes widen, and she slowly stops walking. She turns around and sees a large smoke on a rooftop.
Orange lightning streaks appear beside her and it turns to Semfes, and then she turns beside her and sees him looking forward.
"Likewise, you preferred to wreck them don't you, Semfes?" Alamia told him.
He gradually turns his face toward her, his calm eyes staring into her eyes. "I didn't mean to cause chaos. I'm sorry if I made you feel so bad, Alamia."
Alamia looks down and a gentle smile forms on her lip, hence she looks up at Semfes' mug. "Forget what happened, Semfes. What matters is that we find a new village and a guild that will pay us the justifiable amount of gold coins that we deserve."
Thereupon, both begin to continue their long journey. They walk from village to village and enter their guild, hence they inquire about the price of each task.
Later on, Alamia and Semfes are inside a cafe. Both are drinking hot coffee from their wooden mug, while drinking coffee, Semfes is reading a newspaper whilst Alamia remains to blow the hot coffee and takes a sip after each blow of her breath.
Semfes' eyes widen a bit at a specific article embedded in the newspaper. She puts his wooden mug on the wooden table and begins to mumble, "A wanted assassin who slaughtered criminals, families, and famous gangs, Tresval Romiena–!"
"We don't speak that name, young man," an old man speaks beside him, "in this village, all those who speak his name will be imprisoned and sentenced to death."
Semfes moves his eyes beside him. "Oh, I'm sorry."
Alamia says, "He sure is a menace to this village.
The old man moves his eyes to her. "You sure are right, lady. That criminal is so hard to pursue, he can even escape even if surrounded by hundreds of knights.
"We don't know where to locate him but the rumors said that 'those who see him will see their life flashes before their eyes'."
"Are there any instances of someone escaping after seeing him?" Semfes caresses his cheek, "Good luck does exist, right?"
The old man stares at Semfes and then he chuckles at the young man. "Having strong abilities doesn't mean that you can escape any situation or defeat anyone. Having a tremendous amount of luck doesn't mean that you can escape your death, my boy."
The old man turns around and walks away from both of them whilst Semfes remains gazing at the old man.
Alamia is staring calmly at the old man. "What an odd answer."
Semfes moves his eyes toward Alamia. "What will we do now? Through these years, we haven't decided anything, not even a small house or a plan for retiring."
Alamia moves her chair backward, begins to stand up, and gyrates her fishing rod until it's pointing at Semfes.
She tells him. "No matter where our decision leads us, I won't stop following you wherever you go.
"You defeated Eshirem and brought me back to this world. We may not be talking about that incident but I'm always thankful for what you did, Semfes."
She turns around whilst Semfes stands up from his chair. Hence, Alamia turns around from him and begins to walk onward to the door.
"Let's go," Semfes walks faster toward the left side of Alamia and he halts, "we still have many things to accomplish together."
Alamia smirks. "That's what I like about you."
Ergo, both of them step out of the building and they amble until they arrive in front of an enormous building.
Semfes remains calm. "So, this is where the guild of this village is."
Alamie steps forward to the entrance. "What would you expect?"
Both of them walk inward the building, inside, they are numerous people sitting on the wooden chairs surrounding the round wooden table.
Lightbulbs filled with flames are shining all over the wide room, and all furniture is fixed in its place.
The aroma of scented candles can be perceived everywhere.
Semfes and Alamia continue to walk calmly toward the main desk.
Both cease their movement in front of the wooden desk, and three women can be seen sitting on a chair.
The first woman, wearing blue feminine clothing looks at Semfes and Alamia.
She asks, "I am Rana, what can we be in service?"
Alamia gently slaps Semfes' back, and his eyes widen. He licks his lip and looks straight into her eyes.
"Hi, we're here to ask about the highest rank-S mission that you have?" he moves his hands inward the pockets of his pants.
Rana's eyes widen a bit. "I don't think that's the right question."
She moves her eyes downward as they're shaking along with her hands which are clasped together.
Semfes is looking at her hands not until another woman wearing red feminine clothing blocks his eyes with her face.
"Is she alright?" Semfes points his index finger at her hands, "I don't think she can work properly with that demeanor."
The woman wearing red clothing begins to grimace at him. "What are you trying to say?! Who do you think you are, huh!"
Semfes raises his hands; he waves his hands attempting to calm the woman. "I am not telling you anything, ma'am, but it's just her hands are shaking and she can be distracted by it."
"My name's April," April, the woman wearing red feminine clothing points her index finger at Semfes, "remember that you ignorant stupid young man–!"
Her eyes grow wide as the edge of a fishing hook is settled on her throat.
Alamia's eyes are widening as her brows are furrowing, and veins are appearing on her forehead; her blue hair is floating as it keeps glowing whilst a dark blue aura is surrounding her whole body.
The words embedded on her fishing rod are radiating blue light, and the fishing rod is floating near April's head.
The people around them are staring at her; some of them are frightened, some are surprised, and some are gulping their liquor from the glass mug.
"A-Alamia," Semfes turns toward Alamia, "it's alright–!"
"Shush your mouth! I can't handle this woman anymore," Alamia raises her hand at the woman, "you're speaking too much! You think highly of yourself even though you're just an ignorant woman with no manners."
Alamia steps closer to April, and she holds April's jaw. Her eyes are widening as the fluid from her forehead is flowing from her forehead down to her chin.
"Where's your guts now, woman?" Alamia throws April away and hits the shelf behind her, "serve us right and I shall spare your life."
April remains trembling, and then she stands up and nods repeatedly as she walks toward the desk.
"S-She, I mean Rana will be transferred to the clinic, s-sir, and m-ma'am!" April moves her eyes toward Semfes, "w-we do have the highest rank-S mission, and that will occur in the Radiant Forest."
The third woman, wearing green feminine clothing walks toward April. Hence she moves her lip closer to April's ear.
Henceforth, April walks away as the third woman is now standing in front of Semfes and Alamia.
"Apologies for that uneducated woman," she bows in front of him, "yes, we do have the highest rank-S mission and you will need to go to Radiant Forest, there both of you will need to investigate what happened to those who went inside the forest"
She slides her hand inside her upper clothing and brings out a long folded paper. She extends the folded paper towards Semfes, and he gently grabs it from her hand.
"My name is Romina. The mission embedded on that paper is highly dangerous, and the price will be 1 million gold coins," she tells him, "we don't know what occurred to those who accepted that mission, but after many days of accepting that mission: all of them didn't manage to return here."
"Dead is the right term isn't it?" Alamia stared into Romina's brown eyes.
Romina chuckles and bows down once again, and she looks once again at Semfes. "If both of you are lucky or one of you is still alive then that person will accept the award.
"Unfortunately, we will be needing evidence of what truly occurred in that forest."
Semfes turns his eyes toward Alamia. "I'll ask you, is it okay for us to take this mission?"
"What a miracle indeed. If you want to take this mission along with the price of losing our life," Alamia remains calm while staring at Semfes, "then I will be happy to die with a true comrade rather than a comrade who never cared for his ally."
"Then," Semfes moves his eyes to Romina whose eyes are looking at him, "we'll take this mission. What are we going to use as transportation? I hope that there's a benefit written on this mission."
Romina chuckles. "Oh yes! Both of you will be assisted by the knights of this village until all of you arrive near the forest."
"That will be a great help," Alamia calmly said.
Hereafter, four armored men are sitting above the carriage, and one armored man sitting near the horses while holding the thick rope connected to the horses.
Semfes and Alamia are inside a carriage it's being pulled by horses.
Both of them are looking out the window beside them; both of them are witnessing the moon ruling on the dark skies along with the twinkling stars.
"Semfes," Alamia spoke.
Semfes hums without taking a look at her.
"Thank you for being with me through these years," Alamia smiles gently, "even if I'm hard to go along with, you still manage to calm yourself while trying to calm me from being angry."
His lip curves upward. "Receiving those words from you is like eating a delicious meal with a disgusting form."
He moves his eyes toward Alamia. "No matter what happens, even if your anger remains in you for so many days or years, I will never get tired of calming you down.
"I'll always be here for you. You will never experience walking alone in this world."
Alamia and Semfes remain staring into each other's eyes as the carriage remains to be pulled by the sprinting horses.
"Thank you, Semfes," Alamia said to herself.
After many distances and minutes of traveling, Alamia and Semfes are staring at the carriage as it's moving away from them.
"I guess this is it," Alamia said.
Semfes turns around and sees many trees near him. He inhales deeply and says, "I hope we get out of there alive, Alamia."
"You rarely call me by my name," she tells Semfes, "I'll savor this moment forever, Sem."Download Novelah App
