Chapter 15 Escaping From My Own Sadness

On a wide field of ground with many craters and burning trees, Alamia remains to be held down by purple energy chains; they're wrapped around her wrists, neck, abdomen, and thighs.
"Even if it takes many years to train," she says, "even if training myself takes millions of years, I remain soft and vulnerable to powerful foes like Eshirem and Revior."
Fluid fills her eyes as they fall gently to her chin, and speaks, "I couldn't even keep the man that I admire away from danger."
Multiple years ago, during Semfes' departure from the orphanage, huge amounts of water were falling from the dull clouds.
Semfes and Alamia are walking on a wide narrow pathway surrounded by trees, and a huge leaf is covering their head.
Semfes looks at the dark sky. "So, where are we heading right now?"
Alamia blinks and calmly replies, "I don't know. Maybe we should head to a peaceful forest and train you there."
"Train me? That's a good idea," Semfes looks over to her, "sure, I'll do what you want but don't expect me to surpass your expectations."
"What expectations?" Alamia laughed softly.
The two reach a gigantic rusty gate; its parts are being crawled by plants sprouting from the ground.
Semfes reads the huge poster embedded on the gate. "The forest where thunderstorms occur! High risk of death and strong monsters can be found!"
Semfes immediately moves his eyes toward Alamia while his eyes are widening and his eyebrows are furrowing.
He shouts at her. "Peaceful?! What kind of peaceful forest where thunderstorms occur and strong monsters are wandering everywhere?!"
Alamia raises her hand a bit at him and gestures for him to go away. "Just go away! If you don't like to learn how to fully control your lightning then go back.
"Don't ever return to me! I hate people who brag about anything even without trying their best."
"Okay! Okay!" Semfes walked forward to the gate.
He gazes at the gate and touches a part of it only for the gate to fall to pieces. Alamia's eyes are widening while staring at the remains of the gate.
"Such strong hands," Alamia chuckles, "it's bad that you're not using it properly! Oh, you're not even using your head!"
"Oh, shut up!" Semfes looks at her and his eyebrows narrow as his eyes grow smaller while staring at Alamia, "I just want to go inside the forest and become more powerful than Escarfra!"
"You truly hated her?" Alamia remains looking at him, "I can't relate to what you're feeling because right from the very start, I don't have anyone to cherish."
The two ambled inward the forest, and there, heavy amounts of rain remain to pour from the clouds down to the large leaf hovering over their head.
"The rain is more strong here than from the outside," Semfes said to himself.
His eyes are glued on Alamia's back; her long brown her reaching her shoulders, and her blue feminine attire can be seen.
"We're here," Alamia stops walking in front of a large cave, "this is where we'll spend our days."
"Wait, how long will we stay here?" Semfes gulped.
Alamia throws the large leaf inwards the cave and the rain touches her hair and her skin; crawling down to her toes.
"We'll get sick if we get soaked!" Semfes went towards Alamia and then he covered her head with his hands.
"Stop being such a bellyacher!" Alamia slapped his hands from her head.
He remains to stare at her while Alamia is scowling with a red hint appearing on her cheeks, and then she walks inward the cave.
"What's the matter with that girl?" Semfes begins to walk serenely toward the cave, "I don't know why she's acting like this."
His eyes widen upon entering the cave and he jumps aside as he sees a water sphere flying across him.
A blue lightning appears on his fingertips and it crawls toward his head. Semfes lands on the ground and throws blue lightning in a certain direction.
Alamia appears from the shadows and throws a piece of wood toward the lightning; lightning hits the wood and causes fire to occur on the piece of wood.
"What was that for?!" Semfes glared at Alamia.
The piece of burning wood hits the other multiple pieces of wood and they all begin to be consumed by flames.
"You must be prepared anytime for an ambush," Alamia installs herself on the ground in front of the burning woods, "this world isn't a paradise, because this world is also filled with bitterness and sorrow."
Semfes lounges on the ground in front of the burning woods. He stares at the flame as it produces heat, warming his whole body.
"I don't understand," Semfes said.
Alami looks at him while aiming her hands at the flames, and she asks, "What can't you comprehend?"
Semfes replies without looking at her. "You have been living like this your entire life. How can you live without the feeling of being loved?"
Alamia inhales deeply. "You won't understand and even if I tell you multiple times… you will just keep telling me comfortable words which can not make you understand my situation.
"If you truly want to understand how I can live without being cared for, then live your entire life like me."
She stands up and steps away from him while Semfes is gazing at her. Alamia turns around and meets Semfes' stare, and so, she speaks to him. "The rain won't stop, in this forest, the soil acquires a tremendous amount of water to continue to live.
"This forest was cursed to pour rain on this entire land but the creator of beasts manage to put his monsters here, and that is for the sake of the safety of humanity."
Alamia opens her hand and a fishing rod appears on it, hence, she clenches it and tells Semfes. "At first, you'll feel sick after being soaked in the rain but eventually your body will create an immunity against cold temperatures."
"So, that immunity can be found inside this forest right?" Semfes asked.
Alamia nods and cracks her knuckles. "Yes. I think it's better if we stop wasting our time and proceed to acquire your full power in utilizing your element."
"Great!" Semfes touched the ground and pushed himself back on his feet.
Afterward, the clouds remain to release heavy amounts of rain in the forest as the strong winds are traveling at a great speed.
Alamia is standing in front of Semfes who's being soaked by the rain.
She throws him a thick wooden stick and he catches it; it slips from his grasp but he continues to catch it until he holds it.
Semfes looks at her and shakes the wood from left to right. "What is the meaning of this?!"
"To release your element you must acquire an object to which you can channel your element," Alamia points at the wooden stick which he's holding, "and that stick can help you control your lightning."
"Wait," Semfes tells her, "if I release lightning in this forest it'll eventually electrify us! Because water also serves as the channel of lightning."
Alamia's lip curves upward. "Well, you're right but the water in this forest is a special type of water where lightning doesn't affect it.
"So, we're safe from being fried by your lightning."
Semfes holds the stick and looks at it, and then, blue lightning flickers around his hands toward the wooden stick.
The wooden stick explodes and he falls to the ground. Semfes arises whilst Alamia throws a wooden stick towards him.
"If you give up from just one failure then how can you call yourself a victor?" Alamia tells him, "I believe that you can do it!"
Semfes raises his hand and catches the wooden stick, heretofore, he looks at her before switching his gaze to the wooden stick.
Hence, he continues to flow his blue lightning onto the wooden stick, and every time he channels his lightning: the wooden stick explodes.
Semfes remains standing amidst the strong wind currents which are getting stronger; the wind carries the broken wooden sticks on the ground.
Alamia remains staring at Semfes while a large leaf is covering her head; catching the rain drops from hitting her head.
"Semfes! Can you still do it?" Alamia asked.
Semfes is inhaling and exhaling while looking downwards. Then, he moves his eyes upward and sees Alamia and the raindrops which are blurring her appearance in his eyes.
Semfes raises his hands and looks at it. "I am Semfes Alshian, I don't know why I am gifted with such power… the point is I don't know how to fully utilize it."
He begins to close his hands, and he looks up only to see Alamia's brown eyes gazing at him.
He inhales deeply and yells, "I won't give up! No matter what happened! I will continue to train and grow stronger."
He smiles widely. "Thank you for believing in me, Alamia!"
Alamia throws a large wooden stick toward him, and then he swings his hand upward only to catch the large wooden stick; he clenches the large wooden stick and holds it with his hands.
Henceforth, he closes his eyes and blue lightning appears on his hands; generating a bright blue light and spreading around him.
Semfes raises the large wooden stick and it's now coated by blue lightning, ergo, strains of blue lightning emerge from its edge; reaching the sky.
"He did it." Alamia smiled gently while tears flowed from her eyes down to her chin.
Later on, Alamia releases water spheres from her mouth whilst Semfes is striking the spheres by releasing blue lightning from his fingertips.
Alamia smirks, therefore, she releases water spheres that travel at the speed of the wind.
Semfes' eyes are widening as he releases more blue lightning toward her attacks, yet one of the water spheres strikes his chest.
He was pushed backward by the force of the water sphere which hit his chest. Semfes looks upward and meets a water sphere heading closer to him.
Blue lightning appears around him and he steps aside as everything around him begins to move at a low pace.
"My heart," he touches his chest, "it's beating so fast!"
He runs toward Alamia at such speed, ergo, he blinks and Semfes is now standing in front of her.
"How can he?!" Alamia's eyes widened.
Semfes thrusts his hand toward her until it touches her throat, and from the movement of his hand: a huge force of wind emerges from his hands and it spreads everywhere; carrying raindrops away from the ground, furthermore, the huge force of wind splits the dark clouds in half.
Semfes steps back from her as his upper bold folds forward; he folds his legs a bit and touches them while inhaling and exhaling at a fast rate.
Alamia remains standing in her position as her eyes darted at him, and she speaks to herself. "He's amazing! No wonder, I saw something in him."
The trees near them begin to be carried away by the emergence of a gigantic humanoid; its skin is dark as its skull is exposed a bit, and dark spikes are seen on its large dark knuckles.
The giant releases its roar and its force reaches Semfes and Alamia. The giant looks at both of them and bounces toward the duo.
Semfes pushes Alamia and the giant slaps him away. He arises from the ground whilst he looks at the giant only to see Alamia running towards it.
Meanwhile, Alamia summons her fishing rod in her hand. She jumps aside and avoids the hand of the giant, hence, she swings her fishing rod and its hook flies toward the giant; the line wraps around the giant's neck.
The giant holds his neck while coughing, and he's pulling the line from his neck, however, his grasp is useless against the fishing line.
Alamia pulls herself toward the giant and she lands on his shoulder. She inhales deeply and breathes a large water sphere that strikes his head and penetrates its flesh.
She pulls her fishing rod from his neck, therefore, she jumps from his shoulder while the giant is falling to the ground.
"Wow," Semfes mumbled.
Moving on, Semfes and Alamia are inside the cave while warming themselves by the use of multiple burning wooden sticks.
"I thought you'd die earlier," Alamia said.
Semfes looks at her. "No, I was the one who thought that. I knew that this was too early, but I was concerned about you."
She blinks repeatedly as she shakes her head, she looks at him and glares. "Stop saying that! I'm not concerned about you! So stop being concerned about me."
Semfes asks her. "What's so wrong to be worried about you? You're my comrade and you're also my obligation."
Alamia clicks her tongue while glaring at Semfes. "Being my comrade does not mean that you need to be worried about me all the time!
"I am not your obligation because I can protect myself all the time!"
Semfes looks at her hand and he extends his hand toward it. "Sometimes, you need to learn how to trust me."
Alamia's eyes are widening and Semfes moves his hand from her hand and calmly tells her. "Your hand is cold and I can't even feel a hint of heat.
"From this day onwards, can you learn how to trust me and depend on me even a little? I want to help you, Alamia, you're not alone."
Alamia closes her lip and her eyes remain in their original state, and she looks at his calm, dark eyes which are glued to her.
"Yes, I'll trust you," Alamia nods, "please, don't abandon me and that is all I ever wanted."
Semfes smiles gently at her as his eyes mimic a smile. "I will never leave you."
Presently, Alamia begins to cry without any noise while she's looking at the ground.
"You said you weren't going to leave me… but you left." Alamia closed her eyes.
Her eyes open and she's standing on a wide field of shallow dark water with dried soil underneath it.
Her eyes narrow upon witnessing a young woman who exactly looks like her; her hair is purple and her eyes are purple as well along with her clothing.
"How dreadful," the purple Alamia stands up from her throne made of ice, "you couldn't even keep him away from harm's way."
Her purple eyes are dimming. "You're pathetic like stones and useless like you were since your birth.
"Tell me, how can you save him? Oh, you did let him die."
The purple Alamia jumps at immense heights and Alamia rolls aside avoiding the purple Alamia.
"What's your name?!" Alamia opens her hand and summons her fishing rod, "I must know your name before I split you in half!"
"My name is Al," Al, the purple Alamia is ambling towards Alamia, "now, die."
Alamia looks up and sees multiple gigantic solid pieces of ice falling on her, and then she looks down and a big ice piece strikes her abdomen.
The gigantic pieces of ice disappear from the sky. Alamia rolls on the ground and she immediately regains her composure.
She swings her fishing rod and Al appears in front of her with a solid ice hammer clashing against her fishing rod.
Al moves her eyes toward Alamia's fishing rod, and then she chuckles. "You still depend on your safety on that piece of junk? No, wonder, Semfes died–!"
Alamia's hair glows to the color of blue, and a blue aura appears around her, and she yells at Al. "Don't you dare! Speak about Semfes like that!"
Alamia pushes her fishing rod and she pushes Al from her; Al rolls on the ground but she instantly stands up.
"Bring it on!" Al yelled.
Both sprint toward each other as huge chunks of ice are falling on Alamia. Her blue hair glows even brighter as she runs from side to side; avoiding the falling chunks of ice.
Both strike each other with their weapons but Alamia's kick strikes Al's face.
Al smiles widely. "Oh, this is getting exciting!"
Al breathes small water spheres which travel at great speed toward Alamia.
Henceforth, Alamia sprints toward Al, and while sprinting, Alamia swings her fishing rod and slices the incoming water spheres in half.
Alamia's now closer to Al, therefore, Alamia swings her fishing rod towards Al.
Alamia's eyes are widening as she's moving her eyes toward her fishing rod; the small cracks on it are growing longer until the fishing rod breaks apart.
"My fishing–!" Alamia is struck by huge pieces of solid ice.
The huge pieces of solid ice deepen Alamia down to the soil. Al turns around and she utters waves of soft laughter while ambling away from Alamia.
"Say goodbye to your body," Al told Alamia.
"Am I truly like this?" Alamia's blue hair is turning white bit by bit, "I truly let myself down and Semfes as well. If he can see me, he'll see me as nothing but a disappointment."
She begins to shake her body whilst Al remains walking away from her. Alamia is clenching her hands while pushing herself from the ground.
"I'll defeat you! And prove to myself that I can do everything," the white spots on her hair turn blue as her long blue hair begins to glow once again, "surpass myself! And defeat those creatures who slaughtered Semfes!"
Al stops in her footsteps and she turns around only for her face to be hit by a water fist. She flies away but another water hand grabs her neck; she's lifted and the water hand slams her to the ground.
Alamia cuts the water from her mouth and then she lands on Al while pointing her water sword at her neck.
Al rolls aside and throws large ice spheres toward Alamia who landed on where she stood. Alamia breathes a line of water from her mouth and its edge forms a blade, hence, she cuts the ice spheres in half.
She jumps backward and the words on her fishing rod appear on her cheek down to her neck; the letters are blue and they're radiating a bright blue light.
"How can you continue to be positive?!" Al breathes misty wind, "I am imbued with her power and that makes me the winner here!"
Her purple eyes glow brighter as a purple aura manifests around her whole figure. She points her hand at Alamia while speaking with a heavy deep feminine voice. "I will put you in your place! You brat!"
Alamia begins to close her eyes and she speaks to herself while feeling the strong wind current from Al. "After this moment, I will trust myself and not always put my safety on anyone or my comrades!"
Al runs toward Alamia and throws multiple ice spheres toward Alamia, but Alamia keeps dodging the ice spheres and then she summons a fishing rod and throws it upward.
The fishing rod strikes a tremendous falling ice chunk and it separates into pieces whilst both Al and Alamia strike each other with multiple swift punches and kicks.
Alamia jumps and kicks Al, thence, Alamia flips her whole body backward and she lands on the shallow water.
Al runs toward Alamia, henceforth, Al moves at tremendous speed onward to Alamia.
Alamia coats her hands with water which occurs from her skin; the water on her hands constructs water blades.
After a few seconds, Alamia swings her hands in different directions and Al appears in front of her.
Al immediately moves backward as smoke is occurring from her fresh wound. She grimaces at Alamia and summons heavy chunks of ice above Alamia.
Alamia points her hands to the shallow water and her blue eyes begin to shine. The dark blue shallow water turns to the color of clear water, and huge tentacles emerge from it; the tentacles shatter the gigantic chunks of ice.
Alamia disappears and appears in front of Al, hence, she walks toward Al who's walking backward, and then Al's feet slip and she falls into the shallow water.
"Fear, you're finally feeling it," Alamia lends her hand at her, "let me help you."
Al blinks as she stares at Alamia's mug. "How can you remove fear from your mind even if you're a stronger person than the one you're fearing?"
"I always thought of how strong I am," Alamia chuckled at Al.
Alamia touches Al's head and she inhales deeply and speaks, "I Alamia will cleanse you from your fear, trust me and you shall feel peace."
"I'm sorry if I fought you so hard and look at myself as the strongest one," she smiles gently, "even though I am the strongest here!"
Al arises as purple chains occur from the ground near her. She summons a purple energy spear and thrusts it toward Alamia who's standing in her position while calmly staring at her.
"Let me help." Alamia held her spear and broke it with her bare hands.
Alamia touches the purple chains and ties them around Al's neck. Al falls to her knees as Alamia settles her hand on her forehead.
Alamia closes her eyes as Al's purple eyes turn blue and it releases a thick line of blue light.
Henceforth, Alamia is standing in a wide field of a large volume of water and islands can be seen scattered on the vast body of water.
"I'm ready." Alamia closed her hands.
