Chapter 34

A few hours later...
"I won't be home for dinner tonight," Eleanor says as she continues to walk through the hallway along with Taylor.
"Let me guess. Study date with Fred again?" Taylor asks her sister.
"Yeah," Eleanor says. "He's been helping me a lot with my homeworks."
"I see," Taylor says. She wasn't surprise to hear that since she knew Eleanor had been seeing Fred for study dates for the past weeks. She almost thought that the two started dating, in which Eleanor stated before that they are just friends.
As the two sisters continue to walk through the hallway, they see Oliver and Lillian walk pass them, holding hands with one another with Lillian giggling shyly and Oliver smiling flirtatiously.
"It's Lillian and Oli," Eleanor says.
"Yeah," Taylor says. "They've been together for a while."
"They kind of look good together," Eleanor says as she watches the couple from a distance.
"Are you kidding me?" Taylor asks her twin sister, in which she almost disbelief what she heard.
"No. Like seriously, they actually look cute," Eleanor states. "Like you can see the love written in both of their eyes."
Taylor turns her head to see Eleanor, though she still found it weird that Eleanor thought that Lillian and Oliver looked cute, she noticed how her sister looked at the couple with awe. She seemed to be impress by the sweet romance of the two. Though she still disagrees with the idea, she knew that the romantic idea Eleanor had while watching a couple was quite understandable. Sometimes she even imagines herself to be in some romantic stories, and what anyone don't know, was that she often fantasize Joey as her partner. At least, sometimes.
7:45 PM...
At the hospital...
A nurse can be pushing a rolling bed in panic as she runs through the hospital, along with a doctor by her side, as well as some other nurses following them. On the rolling bed, a woman in a critical state can be seen lying weak on the rolling bed, with her skin looking extremely pale. It's obvious that even from a distance, the woman looked badly sick.
Behind the group of nurses, Joey kept following them as he worries about his mother's critical condition. Just by looking at her, he could feel his heart feeling heavy as his fear starts to get bigger, with all thoughs of the worst possibilities haunting his head. He was afraid that this day was gonna come, but deep down he still hopes for a miracle that his mother would be ok.
Mom, please be ok. Joey thought.
8:20 PM...
At Taylor and Eleanor's house...
Taylor's POV...
After dinner, I decided to go to my room to do my science homework. While listening to music on my phone, it helps to light up my mood from the boredom of all the homeworks.
Eleanor is still out, studying with Fred and doing her homework with his help. Knowing that they've been together for some times, I'm actually waiting for the news of their relationship. As funny as some people might think of me, I actually ship those two together. I've seen Fred a few times, including last week where he asked Eleanor to join him to visit the museum. Eleanor had asked him I could tag along since she didn't want me to be home alone during the weekend, in which he actually agreed. Spending some time with Eleanor and him, I've come to learn that he's a chill guy, and that I could tell that he's definetly attracted to Eleanor. His eyes were speaking so much, but for now, I think Eli might haven't thought about it just yet.
*Ring ring*
The song that was playing suddenly got paused as my ringtone started blasting loudly. I pick up my phone to see that Tim is calling me. Hmm...weird, since Tim really called me, especially during this hour.
"Hello," I answer the phone while still doing my homework.
Yet, I should have guessed that Tim wouldn't have called me all so sudden at this hour if it wasn't something important. Shocked at the sudden news he told me, my right hand dropped my pen on the ground, suddenly losing the strenght to hold it as I am now shock.
"What? Joey's mom....she...she passed away?"
"Yeah," Tim says in a low tone through the phone, only making me wish this was all just a nightmare, as I still cannot put my head together with my now shocked heart.
A few days later...
11 AM...
At the cemetery...
It's the day of Joey's mother's funeral. The gray clowds filled the sky on the gloomy day, as everyone pays their final respect to the woman who had passed away. After a journey of fighting her ilness, the battle had come to an end.
Joey couldn't hold back his tears since the first time he witness his mother no longer alive. The seconds before she let out her last breath, he had already fear of the worst possibility, yet he knew that he was never gonna be prepare for it. All of this felt like a nightmare in which he just wanted to escape. Now, while staring at her grave stone, he couldn't help but break down and cry again, wishing for a miracle that she would wake up, and that all of this is just a nightmare.
Mom, don't go. Joey thought as he bends down to see his mother's grave.
Looking at Joey crying, his elder brother, Kyle bends down next to him. He is also heartbroken at the sudden news.
"Why did she have to leave fast, Bro?" Joey asks Kyle in between sobs.
"Some things can't be predicted," Kyle says in a low tone. "Rest in peace, Mom."
As the brothers continue to let out their sadness at their mother's grave, a girl with shoulder lenght brunette hair along with a girl in a ponytail approches the two boys. The two sisters couldn't help but also sad at the lost of their best friend's mom.
May you have eternal happiness, Mrs Carlson. Taylor thought.
To be continue...
