Chapter 38

A few hours later...
6:40 PM...
At Taylor and Eleanor's house...
Eleanor is in the middle of brushing her hair. For tonight's date with Fred, she decided to let her wavy brunette hair falls just below her shoulder. As for her outfit, she decided to wear a black sweater along with some gray jeans, complete with black flat shoes. Taylor decided to help with her make-up earlier, in which she loved the result which consisted of soft colours, just the way Eli likes it.
"Well someone surely looks on point tonight," Taylor says as she continues to watch her sister brush her wavy hair.
"Well, a good look always makes me feel great," Eleanor says. "It's also a confident booster if you ask me."
"I couldn't agree more," Taylor says. "So what time will Fred pick you up?"
"7 PM, or like, a few more minutes," Eleanor says.
"Ok, have fun, El," Taylor says as she smiles at her twin sister. The sight of her often going out with Fred these days made her wish that the two would eventually find their ways to be a couple, despite the fact that Eleanor had stated a few times that and Fred are nothing more than friends. Deep down, Taylor has hope that the two would eventually get into a relationship. Maybe when that day come, she wouldn't feel too guilty if she came out with Joey as a couple, knowing that Eleanor would probably be in love with Fred by that time.
Just then, the door of the girls' room suddenly opens, revealing a middle-age woman walking inside, approaching the two girls who are her daughters.
"Eleanor, your friend is here," their mom says while watching Eleanor brushing her hair.
"Ok, I'll be down in a second," Eleanor says as she puts her brush down on the table and grabs her small hairclip.
Downstairs...
While Fred is sitting on the couch talking to the twins' dad, Eleanor walks downstairs, looking all stylish from to toe, with her mom and Taylor just following from behind, feeling proud that the little girl they once knew to be rebelious and sarcastic, is a now a grown up woman. It's hard to believe that she is still the same person, since she looked more calm, yet still sassy.
"Hey, sorry that I kept you waiting," Eleanor states as she stood in front of both Fred and her dad.
"Don't sweat it," Fred says. He smiles at the sight of Eleanor's presence. As he stood up from his seat, he gently lets out his hand in a gentleman like style, making Eleanor form a shy smile at his action.
"We'll be back before 10 PM," Fred says to the middle-age man who is sitting on the couch, who is Mr Steward.
"Good. Now you kids have and stay safe," Mr Steward says.
Eleanor smiles. "Bye, Dad! Bye, Mom!"
"Have fun, kids," says the twins' mom.
"We will," Eleanor says as she slowly shifts her vision from her mom to her sister, Taylor. She smiles at Taylor, in which Taylor smiles back.
Eleanor and Fred eventually exits the house as the two enters the car. Starting the car's engine, they are ready for the fun night they are about to have.
8:20 PM...
After dinner and a warm shower, Taylor decided to relax in her room while writing in her diary. It's been a while since the last time she wrote in her diary. She thought about writing about the crazy things that's been happening lately, from Tim's surprising confession to Joey's sudden kiss today, which lead to a confession by him. Since their kiss in the library, Taylor couldn't seem to keep her mind off him.  The flashbacks of the moment when their lips touched which lead to him to say those eight letters words which she had been hoping for a long time made the butterflies in heart went wild, as her heart was too surprised at the sudden news of joy. Being alone on a Friday night while her sister is probably having fun with her possible significant other only made the night feel more lonely for Taylor. During a time like this, she wished she could be by Joey's side, resting her head on his shoulder with her arms wrapped around his body, while his right arm gently caresses her soft brunette hair. Just imagining this, Taylor felt her heart only yearning for him more.
Joey...I miss you. After what happened, I can't seem to keep my mind off you. I miss you more. Taylor thought.
8:30 PM...
At Joey's house...
Joey is sitting on his couch while drinking a bottle of beer. Though Tim had asked him to go out with him and Victor for a boys' night out, he didn't bother to join them with the lack of energy he has mentally, making him lose the mood to go out. His dad just left home again, which he assumed he probably wouldn't be back soon, which is actually good for Joey since he hated seeing his dad around. So tonight, Joey just wanted to chill with bottles of beer while maybe reading some mystery novels if he eventually gets bored. As he drinks his beer again, he suddenly hears the sound of knocking coming from his door.
Joey sighs. He lazily gets up from his couch. He hope that it's not his dad ready to pick another fight with him. He needed some peace for and his presence would only ruin his alone time. He walks up to the door and opens it, only to be surprise that it was Taylor who is standing on the other side.
"Hey," Taylor says. She's wearing her indigo cardigan complete with a white t-shirt and some black shorts. "I was wondering about seeing you tonight."
"Come in," Joey says as he welcomes Taylor to enter. Though he didn't expected to see her tonight, he was actually glad to know that at least he won't be too lonely tonight.
To be continue...
