Chapter 40

At Sunfest Carnival...
Eleanor's POV...
Fred and I are now inside the ferris wheel, currently enjoying the beautiful view from above. We could literally see the whole carnival from up here, which looked quite crowded, yet it gives some sort of exciting feeling.
"Did you had fun?" Fred asks me all of a sudden, in which I turn my head to face him.
"Yes! Tonight has been so fun," I say with an excited tone.
"Well, I'm glad that you're happy," Fred says. Slowly, he starts to get closer to me, in which we are now sitting next to each other.
We stare at each other as the ferris wheel stops while we're on the top now. Again, his sapphire-hazel eyes never fails to sparkle as it stares deeply to me, again making me feel fascinated. Slowly, I feel that his hand is starting touch mine.
"Eli, has anyone ever told you..."
He suddenly pause with a small smile on his lips, though I felt like his smile this time seems different. It looked more seductive in a way.
"Told me what?" I ask him in a curious tone.
Fred chuckles. "That you're beautiful no matter if you smile or when you're clueless."
Hearing this, I could feel my cheeks starting to burn at the sensation of blushing. My cheeks probably looked like two big tomatos right now, in which I try to hide the awkwardness with a shy laugh. Slowly, I could feel his face starting to lean closer to me, hence making me feel nervous all of a sudden. The gap between us is starting to close as our faces our now only a few inches apart. My heart continues to beat faster as my palms begin to sweat at the tension between us. The seductive smile on his lips turns into more of a smirk, hence giving me a little bit of fear inside.
"I like you, Eleanor Steward," he says as he leans closer with his eyes closed, almost making our lips touch with one another. Yet, my hands restrain him in a quick swift, hence holding him back as he slowly opens his eyes. His eyes shows a look of confusion while I'm staring back with an awkward look. He almost looked like he's speechless.
"What's wrong?" Fred asks me with confusion in his eyes.
Suddenly, I found myself lost with words as I became speechless myself. Out of feeling uncomfortable all of a sudden, I shifted my eyes down to the ground, not having the courage to stare back at him in the eyes. I never thought Fred was gonna do that anytime sooner, yet I also didn't plan that I was gonna restrain him from doing so if he actually wanted to do it. Questions starts running around in my head, wondering about my own action just now that made the moment between us awkward.
"Nothing," I say. Out of words, that the was the only answer I could think of at the moment. Other than, I'm coming to the conclusion that I felt that it wasn't right to let him kiss just now, by that I restrain him. But one question that's still spinning in my head...why did I felt that way? I have do admit, Fred's an attractive guy, and his character is truly 10 out of 10. Kind, caring, funny, and a true gentleman. He's got everything a woman is looking for in a lover, so why did I refuse to let him kiss me? I don't even know why, because all I know is that I didn't feel right to kiss him. The sparks wasn't there.
"I'm sorry, Eleanor," Fred says all of a sudden, as he leans back from me with shame all over his face. Looking at his action, I only felt more uncomfortable that he thought he must have done something wrong when he attempted to kiss me. In reality, he wasn't the one with problem. I am the one who has problems. Yet, with the awkward tension now between us, I couldn't find anymore words to say to him. I'm still speechless at both myself and him. Right now, I just wish that this ferris wheel ride would soon end. I want to escape.
Meanwhile...
At Joey's house...
Taylor is lying on Joey's bed. She assumed they drank enough beer to feel a bit tipsy, yet still sober enough to know what they are doing. She stretches her arms out on the bed, when she sees a familiar figure walking out of the bathroom. Joey walked out with his messy brunette hair, while wearing a white tank top that showed his toned arms, and some baggy shorts. Looking at the fine looking teenager, Taylor could feel her heart rushing as the sight of him is simply too good to not be notice.
"All changed?" Taylor asks, as she refers to Joey's top which had been changed after he got beer all over his t-shirt while trying to get a drink on bed with Taylor.
"Yeah," Joey says, while his eyes starts admiring his best friend's beautiful figure. Not having her indigo cardigan on, her white-shirt shapes her beautiful body perfectly, while her black shorts reveals her beautiful long legs. Looking at her tonight, sitting on his bed looking all beautiful, he only realized now gorgeous his childhood best friend is. When they were younger, Joey had only seen her as the best friend who would play tag with him and help him get a bandaid if he fell and got hurt. Tonight, he's looking at her in a whole new light, realizing that all this time, his best friend is one attractive girl.
Realizing that Joey had been staring at her from head to toe, Taylor's cheeks starts to blush a bright shade of red. She turns her vision down, not wanting to meet him in the eyes as she could feel herself getting butterflies by his sudden action. Slowly, Joey starts to approach her and takes a seat next to her, making the butterflies inside of her dance more wild, almost feels like her heart is getting a heart attack.
"So what's your plan for tomorrow?" Joey asks Taylor, making her slowly turn her head to face Joey.
"I don't have one yet," Taylor says, attempting to sound casual though the butterflies are still dancing inside of her. "And you?"
Hearing this, Joey lets out a small chuckle. Knowing that tomorrow is Saturday, he was curious if his best friend might have had any plans for tomorrow. Knowing that it's been a while since he last went out with her to have some fun, he thought he wanted to spend some time with her after a while and have some quality time.
"Well, I was thinking about going to the arcade. It's been a while since we last had a dance off," Joey states. "What do you say?"
Hearing this, Taylor forms a smile on her face. She realized it's been a while since the two went out together, and not to mention the last time they went to the arcade was with Eleanor, not that it bothered her, but this time she wanted to spend some time at the arcade with Joey, just the two of them. Hearing that the two of them will be going out together after a while really makes her a deep happiness inside.
"Sure," Taylor says. "You know that I'm always there for you."
Hearing this, Joey couldn't help but form a small smile on his lips. He felt happy just at the thought of getting to go out with Taylor after a while, knowing that this time it will be different with their now harbouring feelings for each other. Excited and happy for tomorrow's plan, Joey couldn't hold himself back to express his affection towards her. Hence, he leans closer to the brunette hair girl and gives her kiss on the lips, in which she wraps her arms around his neck as their kiss continues to get deeper. His arms starts trailing down to her hips, as he felt her legs are now placed on top of his lap, making him turn his position as he is now on top of her, while she is lying on the bed.
To be continue...
