Chapter 43
The next day...
At Taylor and Eleanor's room...
"Eleanor! Hurry up, we're gonna be late," Taylor says from the outside of their room.
"Coming," Eleanor says as she walks past their dressing table to get her hair clip.
As Eleanor puts on the small hair clip on her hair, she noticed in the mirror that a big teddy bear is sitting on top of their laundry bag. She didn't remember buying a big teddy bear recently, so it became a question in her head where did that teddy bear came from.
"You done? Mom's already waiting in the car," Taylor says as she enters the room to see her sister.
"Oh, yeah. Let's go," Eleanor says.
The two girls soon exits the room, though Eleanor still wonders about the teddy bear sitting in their laundry bag. She remembered Taylor told her she went to the library yesterday. Maybe she stopped by and bought a teddy bear after? That's what Eleanor wanted to think at the moment.
A few hours later....
At school...
Taylor is walking to the cafeteria alone, since she wanted to check her books first in the locker. As she walks pass the hallway, she noticed that the students are all whispering to each other while having their phones in their hands, almost seems like they're watching something. Some of them even throws dirty glances at her.
"Taylor! Thank goodness I found you," Lillian says as almost trips in her step after running to approach Taylor.
"Woah, Lillian! First, what's up with the running?" Taylor asks. "And two, why is everybody on their phones and having dirty glances?"
"Did you see this?" Lillian says as she shows Taylor her phone, in which Taylor widen her eyes out of shock. On the screen of Lillian's phone, a video of Taylor and Joey kissing at the library is playing.
"What? Where did you get this?" Taylor asks in shock. Fear starts to fill her blood as she starts to wonder who would record her little moment with Joey along with their conversation.
"Paige shared it in the group chat," Lillian says.
Taylor's face starts to fill with worry. It's bad enough that Paige recorded the video of her and Joey and shared it to the whole school, but what's worse is that she fears that Eleanor would find out about the conversation they had in the video. For Eleanor to know that she's dating the guy they both loved was the last thing she wanted to happen.
"Tay, what are we gonna do?" Lillian asks.
"Where's Eleanor? I gotta find her," Taylor says.
"I think she's in the cafeteria," Lillian answers.
"Ok, thanks," Taylor says before rushing off through the hallway.
At the cafeteria...
Taylor's POV...
I enter the crowded cafeteria and see that everyone already has their eyes on me. As I walk pass the crowd, I see a girl with brunette hair standing while holding her phone. My fear starts to get higher as I step closer to the girl, who is none other than my sister, Eleanor. Standing beside her, I see Paige crossing her arms with a smirk on her face. Paige, the girl who I used to know as a dear friend, is now standing in front of me with a different gaze. It's hard to believe that she would do such a thing, when I always consider her as a friend. A traitor, that's the only thing I see in her now.
"Paige, what is the meaning of this?" I asks her with a stern tone.
"Hmm..shouldn't your sister be asking you that?" Paige asks as I turn my head to see Eleanor.
Slowly, Eleanor shifts her gaze from her phone to me. Her eyes filled with disappointment, making me feel more guilty the longer I stare into her eyes. The fear of facing her really starts to rise within me.
"I'll leave the two of you alone now. Bye bye," Paige says in which she tries too sound all sound when I knew well how fake she is now.
Eleanor stares into my eyes with a deadly stare. I swear if looks could kill, she would have taken away my soul by now. Disappoinment is written all over her face, with her gaze showing a strong feeling betrayal. At this point, the whole cafeteria has their eyes on us, making the fear in me rise higher as the guilt lingers tighter in my heart, making my heart feel like it's about to break.
"Taylor? Eleanor?"
Joey's voice caught both of our attention. I turn my head to see Joey heading to our direction with an awkward yet guilty look, followed by Tim who is next to him. By this time, I'm sure they already watched the video Paige spreaded through the group chat.
In a swift movement, Eleanor rushes her way through the two boys, pushing them aside as she rushes out of the cafeteria. I have a feeling she's probably too upset to see both me and Joey right now, along with the other students all watching us. Damn it, Tay. You're a true idiot. You broke your own promise of a so-called "friendship", dated the guy you guys both liked behind her back, and now you let your own lies upset her with the truth. I'm such a bad sister that it makes me feel ashame of myself.
"Where is she going?" Tim asks, though I could see that his eyes looked awkward at the situation, but other than that, he also looked both frustrated and disappointed at the situation.
"I don't know," I say in a low tone, the guilt still lingering in my heart and squeezing harder.
"I'll go look for her," Joey says.
I nodded after hearing Joey's sentence, as I watch him rushing out of the cafeteria. At this point, I know well that it's better for Joey to comfort Eleanor, knowing that she's possibly both hurt and furious at the two of us. Knowing my sister well, I know well that she needs to be calm down when in fury.
Outside the school building...
Eleanor's POV...
I exit the school building while carrying my backpack. Today's shocking news was too much that it got my emotions all mixed up. Fury, betrayal, but mostly disappointment at the two people I trust the most. Taylor, the sister who's always by my side since the day we were born. And Joey, our best friend who I fell in love with. At least, that's what I thought, in which I already knew that Taylor's also in love with Joey. When Joey told me that it was better for us to just remain friends, I never thought it was because he wanted to date my sister instead. He could have just told me from the start that he liked my sister, but instead they both agreed to hide this matter from me. Seeing their kiss on the video was painful enough, but hearing the conversations they had from the video was a new level of betrayal.
