Chapter 44

"What do you want?" Eleanor blurts out with a hidden fury in her tone.
"Where are you going?" Joey asks.
"That's none of your business," Eleanor says as she attempts to turn around to walk away, yet Joey suddenly grabs her hand, making a heart skipped a beat.
"We need to talk," Joey says.
"You wanted to talk, Joe. I don't," Eleanor says as she pulls her hand away from Joey's grip.
"There's nothing worth talking about," Eleanor says. "You could have told me from the start that you and Taylor had a thing for each other, but you guys just chose to lie to me about it."
"El, it's not like that," Joey says, trying to explain to Eleanor about the situation.
"Then what did the conversation you had with Taylor meant, Joe?" Eleanor asks in fury as she turns around to face Joey. Her sharp eyes stares at him with great fury.
Shocked and felt guilty, Joey didn't have the courage to meet Eleanor's eyes, hence he chose to look down at the ground. In his life, he never felt like such a coward before until today, where he has to deal with the consequences of his own behaviour and the misunderstandings he had created between two sisters, and him.
Suddenly, Eleanor could feel herself on the edge of almost tearing up. The mixed up emotions inside of her is making her heart feel crazy. It's like a blade had stabbed her at the right spot. Looking at Joey now, the guy she fell in love with while growing up, she couldn't find the strenght to hold all the pain back after she found out what he did behind her back with her sister. As if that wasn't even enough, what hurt her the most was the fact that he agreed with Taylor to have a secret relationship behind her back.
"Growing up, I won't deny that I had feelings for you in the past, Joe. Honestly, it didn't matter to me if one day you would grew to love my sister," Eleanor says in between tears. "But if you truly cared about me, or even consider me as a good friend that you wouldn't want to hurt, you wouldn't have to hide your relationship with my sister from me, and even lied to me."
Eleanor's words stabbed Joey's heart like a sharp blade, leaving him speechless with his eyes filled with guilt. As tears starts to run down from her eyes, he felt ashame of himself for making his best friend cried because of his lies. He had broke the heart of the girl who loved him dearly, all because of his cowardness that he couldn't be clear with his own feelings and messed up.
"All I said was enough. By the way, don't hurt my sister," Eleanor says in between tears. "Goodbye, Joey."
Upon saying her final words, Eleanor turns around from Joey and walks away, with tears still running down from her eyes. She had enough of pain for today, that she only wished to be away from Joey and Taylor. Though she wouldn't lie that deep inside she still cares for both of them dearly, the pain that stabbed her heart today was something she never expected to come from the ones she loved the most.
Meanwhile....
After the chaotic news, Taylor had lost her appetite and decided to leave the cafeteria without even having a bite for lunch. Tim knew how upset she must feel and decided to comfort her, in which Taylor decided to tell Tim the whole story. The two teenagers are now standing in the corner of the soccer field, in which Taylor just wanted to be in quiet place.
"So that's the whole story?" Tim asks.
"Yeah," Taylor says.
"Why didn't you tell your sister about you and Joey?" Tim asks with a wondering mind.
"I couldn't do it. I couldn't possibly hurt my sister that way," Taylor says.
"Well, I hate to break it to you, but you hurt her either way," Tim states.
Taylor sighs. Tim's statement felt like a strike of lighting in her head. She realized that what he stated was true, and that either way, her sister is deeply hurt now.
"You're right," Taylor says in a low tone. She felt even more guilty now after hearing Tim's statement.
"Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to make you feel worse," Tim says.
"Yeah, it's ok," Taylor says. "I already messed up. I deserve to feel like the worst person in the world right now."
"That's not exactly the point," Tim says. "I mean, what are you gonna do about your sister now?"
Taylor sighs. "I don't know. She probably never wants to see my face again."
"Have you even consider to apologize and talk about it?" Tim asks. "I mean, you guys are sisters."
"Of course I'll apologize," Taylor says. "But in this case, I don't think she would even bother to hear the word "sorry" coming from me."
"Well, you have to try," Tim says.
"Yeah," Taylor says. "Yet it just feels difficult. I don't know if she can even forgive me."
"You haven't even try, Taylor," Tim says. "You have to try."
Hearing Tim's statement, Taylor turns her head to stare at the blonde boy. His face looked much more serious than before, that she almost didn't recgonize him. It's been a while since she realized that Tim had become more mature and wise these days, but today, she felt like he had grown into a mature man in high school. It's surprising for her.
"You're right," Taylor says. "Thanks for the advice, Tim."
"Yeah, don't sweat it," Tim says. "I just don't want you to have a bad relationship with your sister."
"Getting on her bad side is the last thing I would want to wish for, Tim," Taylor says. "I'll make things right."
"That's good," Tim says. "By the way, and what about you and Joey?"
Hearing this, Taylor's heart felt like a spark just rushes around, making the beat of her heart faster. Being all caught up with making things right with Eleanor, the thought of her special relationship with Joey didn't came in her mind until Tim mentioned it, hence making her confuse about the next step she should take regarding them.
To be continue...
