Chapter 12

"Please make yourself at home" An elderly woman said with a smile as she served everyone bowls of soup and some bread together.
Mr. Klein gratefully took it and began munching down. Hannah waited a while, pretending that the soup was hot before she started to eat.
They were all sitting in a circle, all facing each other, making it feel like some kind of political meeting or even a debate. But the whole place was lively, the adults were talking to each other and exchanging ideas to improve their shelter even more. There was a small child, a young boy, he was talking to Eva and another middle age looking man.
They seem to be happy talking to each other while Hannah started conversing with Judas. However she could feel someone's stare on her, subtle glances every now and then. It made Hannah feel more conscious. She tried subtly looking around and saw that no one was looking at her and it made her even more confused.
"I hope you don't mind me asking but...how has Klein been the past years?" Judas asked, his curiousity increasing.
"Oh? Well he's been doing just fine. I see him at work everyday and he's always happy somehow rather" Hannah said, thinking about how Mr. Klein never got tired of staying in one place for many years.
"It's nice to know he's doing better than he was before" Judas sighed of relief, a small smile appearing on his face.
"What do you mean?" She asked confused
"Well....he hasn't been doing well after his wife passed away of an illness. He's just never been the same after it all happened"
As he said that a man came approaching Hannah and Judas. He said there were some supplies that needed to be sorted and they needed more people to help with repairing the fence.
Judas apologised for having to leave during their conversation but Hannah brushed it off saying that it was alright.
Realising she still had a plate sitting in her hands, she got up and started moving around hoping to find a kitchen.

"...What do you think about the new people?" A middle aged woman asked the elderly lady while jolding a cup of some kind of drink.
"They seem like a good bunch unlike those youngsters that came before"
The concersation went on for quite a long time and Hannah gave up on entering the kitchen and juat left the plates on a table nearby.
The man that had called Judas earlier on came back in to the restaurant and called for Hannah.
It appears that they have prepared a room for her ro stay in for the time being. She was also notified that there will be two other people that are staying in the room with her.
Hannah thanked the man and watched him leave the room. She went towards a bed that was nicely kept and sat on it.
She took out her spear and began examining it. When she had plunged the undead in it's head a few parts of the spear was still stuck in it's head.
At this point the spear is now useless unless she manages to find more materials to fix it.
Hannah grabbed a knife she had brought back from the cafe and tucked it away under her waistband just as a precaution.

A few hours had passed and Hannah did nothing but lay on the bed. Mr. Klein is nowhere to be seen and Hannah was too tired to think about anything.
*BAM*
A loud crash can be heard from a distance, Hannah ran straight out of the room and what she saw terrified her.
It was an attack, the shelter was under attack by a mutated undead.
It's whole body was much more larger than an average zombie. Even it's face was distorted than it usually was.
Everybody were running for their life. A few had already been taken down by the mutant.
Mr. Klein was nowhere to be seen and Hannah got dragged away by Judas who was with Eva and a child.
"W-wait! Mr. Klein is still over there!" Hannah begged, she tried wiggling out of his grip but failed as Eva began dragging her along too.
"It's too late Hannah! When that monster came in Klein was nowhere to be seen!" Judas said in between breaths. All this running is putting a strain on his feet.
Hannah was too tired to even blurt out a reply and let herself get dragged along. Her heart was thumping like crazy and her mind started getting a little dizzy.
"Over here! We can hide here for the time being" Judas whisper shouted.
Eva grabbed the young boy and carried him in her arms as they navigated through a few debris.
It was a petrol station, Judas kicked down the backdoor forcing it to open. They all hirriedly entered the building and sealed the door with a tall shelve.
"What....what was that thing?!" Eva screamed.
The young boy in her arms was shivering and had broken out with a cold sweat. Hannah on the other hand was having a hard time trying to focus her vision and kept accidently falling into things.
Judas helped her out and laid some cloth under her head for her to rest her head on. He then moved over to Eva and the little boy who were both stunned in shock.

A few hours have passed, Hannah had finally regained concious. It took her some time to get back to her senses and to refocus her vision.
Her mind was cluttered then she thought of Mr. Klein. Finally coming back to her surroundings she realizes that he was still out there.
She got up abruptly and ran out through the front of the store. Judas and Eva who came to check on her were surprise she wasn't there at all and heard footsteps heading outside the place.
"Go! I'll grab the gun" Judas ordered Eva to which she simply nodded and moved towards the footsteps
"Hannah? HANNAH!" Hannah heard her screams from behind her and chose to ignore it.
Eva grunted and cursed under her breath when Hannah kept moving on running towards the shelter.
"STOP HANNAH PLEASE! IT'S TOO DANGEROUS RIGHT NOW!" Eva screamed hoping her words would reach her.
Hannah slowed down thinking about it but Mr. Klein was her main priority right now.
Just as she was about to move forwards a deep throaty growl can be heard. It was the same mutant from before.
Seeing the huge thing in front her she turned back around towards the petrol station and made a run for it.
Eva seeing her run back in her direction allowed her to release a breath of relief. Until she saw what was behind Hannah, she never thought she would see the undead that had torn her father's body from limb to limb.
"What are you doing?! RUN!" Hannah warned, trying her best to not attract the mutant's attention towards her.
Hannah ran past Eva and realized she wasn't running back towards the station at all.
Judas came out with the gun in his hand and saw the mutant and readied his gun, aiming right at his head.
"Keep moving!" Judas said, alerting Hannah
"Hey!" Hannah snapped her fingers in front of Eva's eyes.
She was frozen in place. Hannah grabbed her arm and started dragging her along behind her. They moved quickly, dodging the debris on the ground once again.
They made it safely back inside and Eva slumped into a corner, curling into a small ball.
