"Try to see if there's anything that we can take with us" Mr. Klein exclaimed before going to another corner of the room.
Walking around the place felt unfamiliar to Hannah. The smell of coffee was still lingering around in the air and....a little bit of blood.
Anyways, it brought back old memories of when she had spent time with someone close to her. The only thing missing was the bustling sound of the place during the day.
The atmosphere back then was immeasureable. The daily specials and the fresh smell of bread and butter. All this memories reminded Hannah how much she missed her normal life.
"There's even left over butter cake...." Hannah sniffed as tears threaten to leave her eyes.
"Hey there, any luck finding- are you...crying" Mr. Klein stood there stun but more importantly he searched around to see if anything manage to crawl through or somehow managed to spawn themself in here.
"It's- it's half eaten butter cake!" Hannah had a breakdown and Mr. Klein stood still frozen unknowing of what to do.
Few hours later, Hannah had calm down and they managed to find a good amount of supplies. They had not just taken food supplies but also all the kitchen supplies as well as cleaning supplies.
"Is that all?" Mr. Klein voiced out from behind the counter.
"Yes"
They had tried lifting the covers to leave but it had made too much noise for them to open it all the way and with the swarm nearby it's best not to attract it straight to them.
"See if there's a window or a back door we could use" Mr. Klein added heading towards the kitchen.
Hannah approached a nearby window and tried to open it however it seemed to have been screwed shut to the grid.
She took out her spear and used the other end of it to try and break the window instead.
The window began to crack and bits of glass started flying everywhere.
Hannah dusted of the remaining bits of glass that remained in the window grill and placed a cloth over it.
She then went to find Mr. Klein towards the room he disappeared into. He was trying to get a door to open that had been boarded up with planks. He managed to get a few planks of but the rest of them was quite sturdy in place.
"Mr. Klein, I've found a way out" She said pointing towards the broken window.
"Great timing! I was starting to give up on tearing this thing down" He gave her a thankful smile then looked down towards her hands.
"Hannah....you should really learn to take care of yourself more" He then proceeded to wrap her hands using a cloth and secured it tightly in place.
"Yes...thank you" Hannah gave a curt answer as she examined her now wrapped up hands.
"It's odd someone would board up the place when there's no one in here" Mr. Klein pondered out loud catching Hannah's attention
"Doesn't that mean they're still in here? I mean how else could they leave? "
The whole room started to become alarmingly hot as beads of sweat form on both their foreheads. It was odd that there was no bodies in here and the whole place looked untouched.
Hannah was frozen in place at the possibilty of someone being in here with them and that they had practically just stolen from them. Mr. Klein acted fast and dragged Hannah out of the room, towards the window.
Movements can be heard from behind them. The more they tried to get away from it the more closer it got. Mr. Klein had to snap Hannah awake and push her towards the window, motioning for her to go through.
There were shouts coming from behind and one of those voices belong to Mr. Klein. Hannah turned around and saw that a pair of arms were pulling him back into the cafe.
"HANNAH GO!" Was what she heard him say but she couldn't just leave him there.
She went up to him and tried pulling him back out however she was too weak compared to the guy that was pulling him in.
In one pull, both of them ended up in the cafe back again except this time with a tall buffed man standing before them.
"You think you could just leave after stealing?!" He threw a punch at Mr. Klein
Hannah tried to difuse the situation by saying that they hadn't known someone was still living here.
But that did not soothe the man's anger. It almoat feels as if he actually wanted to beat someone up which wasn't good for both Hannah and Mr. Klein.
The constant pleading from Hannah ticked the guy off and made him turn his attention towards her.
With one kick to the stomach Hannah was rolling on the ground with agony, clenching her stomach. Seeing as she began to quiet down he went back to Mr. Klein.
Mr. Klein started to get more and more beaten up and the guy's laughter could be heard growing more and more.
*STAB*
"AGHHH! WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH YOU?!" The guy shouted, clutching his stomach as he fell onto the ground causing him to get on his knees.
"I-I uh...I don't-" Hannah stuttered, the feeling of blood on her hands petrified her and knowing that she had just stabbed someone who was very much alive.
Mr. Klein who witnessed the whole thing sucked in a deep breath and slowly moved towards Hannah snapping her out of her trance.
She immediately helped him get up and they both got out of the cafe. As they ran back to the apartment building, both their minds were running wild and their hearts thumping like crazy.
Instead of heading into the office, they sat in front of the door, catching their breath.
"Are you.....feeling alright?" Mr. Klein asked while rubbing his palms together to calm himself.
"I....I...don't know...." Hannah replied, zoning out
