It was 8pm on a particular day. Two large buses drove into the compound of U.C.I.D.S.S. The people in them were students and few teachers who had just come back from a field trip. The students's parents were already awaiting their arrival in the school's parking lot. The principal was also waiting for them, not in her car. When the doors were opened, the students ran out of the buses in excitement to be back from their field trip. The principal saw Mr James, one of the tutors who embarked on the journey with the students. She called on him and asked him to come over. "The parents are complaining a lot Mr James. Why did you guys come by this time? You know they're just JSS1 students", she said to him. "We're really sorry ma'am but we didn't mean to. There was a traffic jam on the way, we could hardly move for a long time", Mr James explained. "But the parents don't know what happened. Look at some of them complaining to your colleagues", she pointed behind him. Mr James turned behind and saw it for himself. He saw his colleagues probably explaining to the angry parents what had happened. A girl ran up to him shedding tears. "Hey angel! What's the problem?", he asked. "My parents aren't here to pick me up", she cried. Mr James had a little eye contact with the principal and then replied to the girl. "Do you know your parents phone numbers?", he asked. "Yeah! I know my mum's phone number. I have it in memory", she responded. "Problem solved then", he patted her back to make her stop crying. "Uhmmm...What's your name?", he questioned her. "My name's Angela Sir", she answered, trying to stop crying. "Okay", he brought out his cell phone from his pocket. He turned to say something to the principal but she spoke first. "I'm heading home now. Have a nice evening!" "Thank you Ma", he replied and she left. "Tell me your Mum's phone number, let me dial it", he told the girl. As the girl was telling him, they walked out of the parking lot. He dialed the number and she picked up almost immediately. "Hello Ma! I'm Mr James, one of your daughter's tutors, Angela", he introduced himself. He wanted going further but she interrupted him. Mr James was listening attentively to what she was saying over the line while Angela waited impatiently for feedback. "Okay Ma...We're waiting in the school", he replied. She then hanged up the call. Mr James sighed;"Your Mum's on the way. Let's wait in the study park." "Thank you Sir", replied Angela, though not satisfied with the feedback. Her sadness grew as she saw her classmates quickly heading home in their parents's car. * * * Mr James and Angela we're fast asleep in the study park. Death walked out from behind the closest building towards them in the study park. With its great eyesight, it sighted two people asleep as they sat on one of the chairs, Mr James and Angela. As its mouth watered at the sight of food for the night, it crept towards them. It made a move to devour them but its growl woke up both of them. They both screamed out of fear and stood up to run away but Death got hold of them, each with a hand of his. Mr James struck Death's arm strongly with his hand to let go of Angela. Still in pains, Mr James took advantage and struck his other arm to escape from his grip. He ran away, trying to catch up with Angela. Death got angrier and ran after them. As soon as they got out of the park, Mr James kicked his foot against a stone and fell down flat. Angela turned back and wanted to go help him up. "Mr James!", she screamed. At this time, Angela's Mum arrived at the school but was blocked at the gate by three security men. One approached her and questioned;"What did you come here for?" "I came here to pick up my daughter Angela", she replied quickly, in a worried manner. The security man nodded his head to the other two to let her drive in. The two walked out of the way and she speedily drove into the school compound. Mr James yelled at Angela;"Don't come close...that monster will eat up your head!" Angela saw the monster and decided to heed to Mr James instruction. The monster picked up Mr James but he punched it at the face in defence. Death didn't let go though and banged its hand heavily on Mr James head, which made him pass out. Angela's Mum parked her car and saw Angela running towards her. She could see fear in her daughter's face. She swiftly ran out of the car to go meet her. She hugged her daughter. "What's making you scared Sweetie?", she asked, after observing Angela was panting heavily. "Mum...look at the monster behind us. It's got Mr James", she said, still trying to catch her breath. She pointed behind for her Mum to see. Mum saw the monster looking at their direction while it held Mr James in the air. All of a sudden, Death relished on Mr James, chewing off his head. It then dropped him dead and looked at their direction again. The feeling of being chased after began to creep over Angela's Mum as she slowly stood up. Death began walking towards them, she carried up her daughter and ran into the car. Death roared loudly and the security men heard the sound. They became frightened. "Is that monster right?", one questioned. Death pursued Angela and her Mum as they drove off. The security men saw the car at a worryingly speedy rate driving towards them. They then saw Death chasing after the car. The three of them took to their heels and ran out of the school immediately. Angela's Mum drove out of the school and Death stopped by the school's gate. It was very furious for not getting hold of anyone. It walked back into the school.
