Chapter Six

Stephen was walking up Marian Road. As he approached the popular Cold Stone restaurant, he saw people running out of the restaurant, all afraid, all of a sudden. There was chaos everywhere, they all ran into the road and blocked the free flow of traffic. Two persons were even knocked down in the process but, that was not the source of attention, Death was. It came out of the restaurant.
Stephen left the scene as soon as possible to hide somewhere and transform to Ratboy.
Death scared everyone off, the whole restaurant was void of humans. Because of no free flow of traffic, the people in the vehicles came out and ran away with the rest.
Death wasn't running after them, but he could walk at a great pace. Anyone he got hold of, he'd bite off the head and swallow it, then throw the person away dead. He gave out a great roar.
After a while, Ratboy landed into the scene. Death turned to him and gave him a long stare.
"Hey mate! You're dead meat!", Stephen said to it fearlessly, "That's if you're even tasty", he playfully mocked Death.
"Strength activate!", he shouted at the top of his voice. He then ran down towards Death in his super speed. His biceps got bigger now.
He was to attack first but Death did so rather. Stephen had to defend himself from the costs of Death. "Oh! You're not that bad!", said Stephen playfully.
He blocked a blow with two hands and then kicked Death at the belly as he threw a backflip. Death used his claws at his legs to hold on to the road to avoid being pushed away too far.
"Now it's time for me to shine!", yelled Stephen. He jumped in the air and landed on Death, making it fall. Death stood up immediately, but was attacked again by Ratboy. Everyone had stopped running, watching the two fight.
Stephen was hitting Death all over but Death just stood at a place, not being affected by the blows. He was rather charging up in anger. He began glowing.
Stephen then stopped, he was now overwhelmed with fear. "He isn't being affected at all by my punches and kicks and now he's charging up", he sensed danger.
"Oh no! Don't be scared Ratboy!", yelled Mr Robinson. He was watching the fight via his laptop, with the help of the minute camera he'd placed on Ratboy's outfit, at the neck region. His system signified him Stephen was shivering in fear.
He saw as Death was glowing more and more. "Oh no! Wish I could do something", he became worried, "Fight back Stephen! Don't let him know you're scared of him!!", he yelled at the screen.
Stephen thought he should run away. He turned to run away but Death acted quickly, it used its claws and pierced him at the heart. Blood poured out of Stephen's chest, as he gasped for air, struggling not to die.
Death took out its claws, and pushed him away with its leg. While Stephen was still on his feet, Death's claws became way longer than they were.
It rushed into Stephen. It used both its hands on him, striking with its claws on him, scratching off his skin, one hand after the other. Everyone watching had pity on Stephen, some were literally shedding tears for him as he was being destroyed.
After several attacks, it let Stephen fall to the ground with lots of deep wounds all over his body.
Death walked up to Stephen, who still was alive but laid helplessly on the road. Death's eyes became reddish in appearance and it fired out lasers from its eyes. Stephen was burnt up to ashes very quickly.
Mr Robinson was crying in the lab. He lost connection because even the minute camera was burnt up. He bent his head and covered it with his hands. He was really really sad.
Death looked round at the people watching. It was very angry. They all began running away in all directions. Death roared at them loudly.

Three days since the death of Ratboy, Calabar City had been very calm. Death would walk in the streets, go into eateries and stalls, pick up anything it wanted, especially edible items. No one dared challenge it, a shop owner that did when it took some snacks in his shop without permission, had his head eaten up.

Mr Robinson came out of his house in a dull manner. He was with a big polythene bag of refuse. He went to the big waste container in the street and put the bag into it.
He turned to go but shouted in fear when he saw a boy behind him suddenly. The boy was David.
David smiled and worried;"Sorry to scare you Sir! Good morning!"
Mr Robinson placed his hand on his chest, panting, though now relieved it was a harmless teenage boy. "Yeah! Morning young man!", he replied. He left, heading to his house but David went after him.
"I found out you're a new resident over here", said David.
"Yeah...what you found out was right then", he replied with no interest. He was heading home but David kept on following him.
"You don't talk like a Nigerian, where did you come from?", David questioned another.
As they walked into his lawn, Mr Robinson stopped and turned back at him. "Why you asking me questions that are unnecessary?", he asked.
"I saw you when you came out...you didn't look happy. I don't think you are now either."
"Please...I'd like to be on my own. I don't want any pests around me right now."
David didn't like his response a single bit. He heaved a sigh;"You know what? You're right! I probably wouldn't have been called pest if I'd minded my business. People that show concern are always regarded as pests. I think I should mind my bees wax from now on."
Mr Robinson then realized how hurting his words were. He tried to say something but David didn't want to hear anything and walked away. Mr Robinson felt bad at what he said and went inside.
