chapter ninety five

It was a bright and sunny Saturday afternoon when I received a text from Max inviting me to Leo's first birthday party. I was excited to be a part of this special celebration. I quickly responded with an enthusiastic "Yes", picked up Lily and dress her nicely, and made my way to the party venue, eager to join in on the festivities.
As I arrived at the party venue, I was greeted by a cheerful atmosphere. The room was filled with colorful decorations, bright balloons, and a beautiful cake at the center of the table. The children were running around the room, playing with their toys, and waiting for the guest of honor to arrive.
Max and Red greeted me warmly as I walked in, and they introduced me to their friends and family. They had put a lot of effort into making this a memorable day, and the preparations were impressive. The theme of the party was a jungle safari, and the room was decorated with green and brown paper vines and animal cutouts. There were also some animal-shaped balloons tied to the chairs, which added to the festive atmosphere.
The birthday boy was dressed in a cute little safari outfit, complete with a hat and a pair of binoculars. As he saw me, he giggled and clapped his tiny hands, and I couldn't help but smile at the adorable sight.
The guests started arriving one by one, and the room soon filled up with people. Children were running around, playing with toys, and chasing each other, while the adults gathered around to chat and catch up with each other. The air was filled with laughter and excitement, and everyone was eagerly waiting for the cake-cutting ceremony.
When the time came, Max picked up Leo and held him close. Everyone gathered around the table, and the birthday song started playing in the background. The birthday boy looked around the room with wide eyes, taking in all the excitement and attention. As the song ended, Max helped the child blow out the candle, and everyone cheered and clapped.
After the cake-cutting, it was time for the children to open their gifts. The children were excited to receive their presents and started tearing off the wrapping paper with enthusiasm. I had bought a little toy giraffe for the birthday boy, which he happily hugged and played with.
As the day wore on, the guests enjoyed various activities, including games, face painting, and a photo booth. The children were thrilled to get their faces painted with animal designs and to take photos with their friends and family.
As the party drew to a close, Felix finally arrived. I said goodbye to Max and her family, thanking them for inviting me to the celebration. I felt grateful to have been a part of such a special day and looked forward to attending more celebrations with her friends in the future.
"I'm sorry I wasn't able to come with you," Felix said, "There were so many patients in the clinic that I couldn't just leave them," he added and kissed my forehead.
"It's okay, babe. I understand," I smiled at him, and saw him looking at Red and Leo, playing together. I smiled to myself and also felt a little sad, I hope I can give him a little boy as well.
Felix wrapped his arms around me, pulling me close. "You're a great mom," he said, his voice soft and reassuring.
I leaned into his embrace, feeling comforted by his words. "I hope so," I said, looking over at Red and Leo. "They seem to be having a lot of fun together."
Felix followed my gaze and chuckled. "Yeah, they definitely are.
I smiled and watched as Red and Leo chased each other around the living room, their laughter filling the air.
"Where's Lily?" Felix asked me.
"She's with her friends outside, playing,"
"Our princess is growing up so fast," he smiled as he held my hands.
"What about giving her a little brother or sister?" he added and grinned at me.
I felt a lump form in my throat as Felix brought up the subject of having another child. We had been trying for months, but so far, we hadn't been successful.
"I don't know, Felix," I said, my voice barely above a whisper. "It's been so hard trying to conceive, and I don't want to get my hopes up again."
Felix squeezed my hands gently, his eyes filled with understanding. "I know it's been tough, but we can't give up hope. We'll keep trying, and maybe one day, we'll be blessed with another little one."
I nodded, feeling a sense of comfort wash over me. It was reassuring to know that Felix was by my side, offering support and encouragement.
As we made our way outside to find Lily, I couldn't help but think about the possibility of having another child. Would we ever be able to experience the joy of parenthood again? Would Lily be okay as an only child?
But then I saw Lily running towards us, her face lit up with excitement. "Mommy, Daddy! Look what we made!" she exclaimed, holding up a small paper flower.
Felix and I both smiled at her, feeling grateful for the love and happiness she brought into our lives. We may not have another child yet, but we had each other and our beautiful daughter, and that was more than enough.
As the three of us walked back inside, hand in hand, I felt a sense of contentment wash over me. Maybe one day we would be blessed with another child, but for now, I was grateful for the love and happiness we had in our lives.
We spent the rest of the day enjoying the birthday party with Lily and our friends, playing games, eating cake, and chatting. It was a wonderful day filled with laughter and joy, and I felt so grateful for everything in my life.
As the day drew to a close, we said our goodbyes and made our way home. Lily was exhausted from all the fun and soon fell asleep in the car on the way back.
Felix and I sat in silence for a few moments, lost in our own thoughts. Finally, Felix spoke up.
"I know how much having another child means to you, but I just want you to know that I love you, no matter what. Whether we have another child or not, I will always be by your side, supporting you and loving you."
Tears welled up in my eyes as I looked at him. "I know, Felix. And I love you too. I'm so grateful for everything you do for me and for Lily."
He reached over and took my hand, giving it a reassuring squeeze. "We'll keep trying, okay? And if it doesn't happen, we'll still have each other and Lily. We'll make the most of what we have."
I nodded, feeling a sense of peace wash over me. It was reassuring to know that no matter what happened, we would always have each other.
As we arrived home, Felix carried Lily to bed while I tidied up the living room. I couldn't help but feel grateful for the love and happiness in my life, and the support of such an amazing partner.
As I crawled into bed next to Felix, I snuggled up to him, feeling comforted by his warmth. We drifted off to sleep, our hands intertwined, grateful for the love and happiness in our lives. And who knows, maybe one day we would be blessed with another little one to share that love with.
