chapter ninety seven

I felt a mixture of excitement and nerves as I and Felix arrived at his parent's house with their two children in tow. It had been a while since we had last visited, and she couldn't help but wonder if things would be awkward between them after all that had happened.
But as soon as we walked through the door, any fears I had quickly dissipated. Felix's parents, who were waiting eagerly at the entrance, embraced them both warmly and were quick to fuss over their grandchildren. The kids, in turn, were thrilled to see their grandparents again and immediately launched into telling them about all the things they had been up to since their last visit.
Watching Felix's parents dote on the children brought a smile to my face. It was clear how much they adored their grandchildren and how happy they were to have them around. It was heartwarming to see the bond between them, and it made me feel grateful to be a part of such a loving family.
As we all sat down to catch up over a meal, I found myself relaxing more and more. It was clear that Felix's parents had forgiven me for the past and were genuinely happy to have me and the kids back in their lives. I couldn't help but feel a surge of happiness and gratitude towards them for accepting my flaws and all.
I watched as Felix's parents doted on their grandchildren, showering them with love and attention. I couldn't help but feel grateful for their warm welcome, and I was glad that Felix's parents adored the kids so much.
"They're growing up so fast," Felix's mom said, as she hugged her granddaughter tightly.
"I know, it's crazy," Felix said, smiling at his parents. "They're keeping us on our toes, that's for sure."
Iris looked around the room, taking in the familiar surroundings of Felix's childhood home.
It felt strange to be back there after so long, but she was glad to see that Felix's family hadn't changed a bit. They were still the warm and loving people she remembered.
Just then, Felix's dad looked up from playing with his grandson and asked, "Where's Jake?"
"Oh! Your brother was mad in love with this girl he met in Australia," Felix's mom said, laughing.
"I won't be shocked at all if he asks her to marry him," his dad added with a chuckle.
I smiled, happy to hear that Jake had found someone he cared about. She knew that Felix's family was just as interested in Jake's love life.
As the evening wore on, I felt grateful for the warmth and love of Felix's family. I couldn't imagine a better group of people to raise their children around, and I knew that we were lucky to have such supportive and caring in-laws.
The rest of the visit went smoothly, and before we knew it, it was time to say our goodbyes. Felix's parents hugged us tightly and told us how much they looked forward to our next visit.
As we drove back home, I felt a sense of contentment wash over me. Being around Felix's family reminded me of how important family was and how lucky we were to have each other.
"I'm glad we went," I said, breaking the comfortable silence between us.
"Me too," Felix replied, smiling. "It's always nice to see my parents and the kids love spending time with them."
"We should visit them often," I suggested, and smiled at him.
"Absolutely," Felix agreed. "I want our kids to have a close relationship with their grandparents, just like I did growing up."
I nodded in agreement, feeling grateful to have such a loving partner who valued family as much as I did. As we drove down the road, I leaned over and gave him a quick kiss on the cheek.
"I love you," I said, smiling.
"I love you too," Felix replied, reaching over to hold my hand.
We rode the rest of the way home in comfortable silence, lost in our own thoughts. As we pulled into the driveway, the kids woke up from their nap and groggily stumbled out of the car.
"Welcome back, sleepyheads," I teased, ruffling their hair.
They groaned, but couldn't help but smile when Felix scooped them up in his arms and tickled them.
"Hey, no fair!" they protested, giggling.
As we walked inside the house, the kids chattered on excitedly about their time with their grandparents, their stories and laughter filling the air. Felix and I exchanged a knowing smile, happy to see our children so happy.
It was moments like these that made me realize how blessed we were to have each other and our wonderful family.
I was getting ready to sleep when I received a message from Max, asking me if I could talk to Felix, and ask him if he could sing the song they'd made at Red's concert.
Hearing that Red will have a concert made me excited. He's getting big in the music industry and I couldn't help but feel proud of my friend.
I immediately replied to Max's message, letting him know that I would talk to Felix about it.
I went to the bedroom, where Felix was already lying down, scrolling through his phone.
"Hey, Max just messaged me," I said, sitting down next to him. "He wants to know if you can sing the song you guys made in Red's concert."
Felix looked up at me, a smile spreading across his face. "That's awesome," he said. "Of course, I'll do it."
I grinned, happy to see Felix excited about the opportunity. "I'll let Max know," I said, getting up from the bed.
I picked up my phone and messaged Red, congratulating him on his upcoming concert and telling him that Felix would be performing their song. He replied back quickly, expressing his excitement and thanking us for the support.
As I settled into bed, I couldn't help but feel grateful for the friendships and opportunities that had come into our lives.
