Chapter 18 Rage

Sapphire held Hale in her arms. She hadn’t even blinked when the barriers had gotten broken and a giant chakram moving round and cutting through various soldiers. She didn’t flinch as the steel butterflies sliced through Supernaturals left and right and they fell. She wasn’t bothered that the creatures were back and barreling through. She held him, his face close to her neck as she rocked side to side.
She was open, she was vulnerable in the midst of the struggle, in the midst of the carnage. She didn’t even question why she wasn’t dead yet.
“You’re okay Hale” she whispered.
“You’re okay” he had gone silent but there was still that pulse. “I’ll get you help. You’ll get healed and when this is over, you’ll talk to my father and we’ll get married”.
“J-just go” he coughed. “I’ll catch up to you” he struggled to say.
“You better not leave me out there by myself” she said reluctant to let him go.
“….won’t” it was barely a whisper.
She dropped him back on the ground and stood up just realizing that they were in a barrier. She didn’t know who put it up, but she was thankful. She stepped out of it.
“Frost, Ice” she said and both animals were before her.
She was Sapphire. First born of Snow, crowned princess of Elementa. She had proven herself and was blessed with Ice and Frost. A white tiger and white lion, and she was blessed by the snow itself. The back of her neck pulsed. It throbbed with a cold sort of pain.
On the back of her neck was a snowflake, white and pulsing. As it pulsed snowflakes fell from the sky. She was taking to the clouds and she was going to end this right now. She jumped onto the snowflakes that had become huge and were moving round the battle arena. Their enemy had steel butterflies, chakram, creatures and fire. She had the snow on her side.
She jumped from snowflake to snowflake, her broad blade materializing in her hands. One might think it was too big for battle, would slow her down. It wasn’t efficient. They hadn’t seen her power firsthand. The creatures were well taken care off with the butterflies from the overlord. That woman was hers.
Tresicta growled as the crown left her head, her scythes joined together and the fan appeared on top.
“Nuisance after nuisance” she murmured as the princess jumped.
Coming down blade met blade, and it was a battle of strength. “You seem distraught child. Had a long day” Tresicta looked at the blades of her fan and noticed the ice crawling along it. She disengaged and jumped back.
Her shield came up blocking the attacks of knives. Looking to the side it was a boy. She’d be taking on two. She didn’t see any problem with that, but she wouldn’t be letting that woman go so soon.
She jumped at the woman and for the boy, he would get to handle her snowflakes for now. He should be careful, not only does it freeze on impact, they also cut.
She jumped at Tresicta again, swinging her blade, which she moved out of the way. It was just a series of swings and misses. Tresicta jumped over the blade landing on it and tried to attack, but she slipped on it and Sapphire tossed her.
When she landed on the surface of the steps it was slippery, and she fell on her back. The princess took to the sky and as she was coming down with a war cry, the signature ice fire surrounded her blade. She had her fan over her enlarging.
Kieran had knives going at the back of the princess. She had let her emotions get the best of her and she wouldn’t see it coming. And she really didn’t.
Sapphire heard the familiar crunch of collision with ice. She didn’t need to turn her neck to know that was an ally. The blade hadn’t been able to melt through her steel. The steel shrank and Sapphire fell forward and Tresicta kicked her in the face, and she was able to put in a little distance between two of them.
She made a dismissive motion at first that knocked her off her feet into the air, then a crushing motion that made her scream and then a strong dismissive motion as if slapping her, but she wouldn’t be deterred. The snowflakes immediately came to her aid and she crashed into it, and was back on her feet immediately going after Tresicta.
Time for the Elementa guerilla strength.
Ice burned on her fists as she punched Tresicta in her face and with that as a distraction she picked up her blade and sliced at her side. Tresicta threw her scythe before making a getaway on the snowflakes. Sapphire smiled licking her blue lips. She loved the chase and released a war cry from deep within. For Sir Hale.
Stephanie hadn’t been able to do much. Watching Clara’s body fight her sister and watching Kieran almost kill her sister. Now they were just staring at each other.
“You don’t look hypnotized” she said.
“No I don’t” he replied unfazed.
“I….I had thought otherwise”.
“I’m not sure I’ve ever heard you stutter before” he smiled. “Are you surprised?”
“Honestly yes”.
“If Clara were here she wouldn’t. She always knew, was always suspicious that I’d join my parents. She was right”.
It was decision time again.
He just stared at her for a while. “Do you want an apology?”
There was cold on his right ankle. Looking down her chain was round his ankle, and even if he had set his body ablaze it didn’t stop her from lifting him up to the sky and twirl him like she would a disk.
Victor moved through the field like he was surfing the waves, but on a giant snake as he picked creature from Supernatural. Every time they thought they had gotten close, they were pushed back. Their numbers were declining while the other numbers wouldn’t stop.
He looked at the cloud that just dropped them.
“It’s the cloud” Victor said.
“What about it?” Dilia asked.
“It’s the source. We need something strong enough to stop it”.
“We could all regroup” Agira said.
“Do I need to remind you that did nothing” Snow said coldly.
“What about everyone?” Victor asked.
“Everyone is preoccupied at the moment and even with that…..I doubt it’ll be enough” Snow sighed defeated. They needed to put a stop to this and he couldn’t reach Hale. He hoped that the worst hadn’t happened.
“I’ll make that order. And the ones who can attack will do that” Victor said. “Everyone towards the mouth of the cloud!!” The president ordered.
Tresicta moved from snowflake to snowflake. Her wound had healed and figured that the princess was playing with her, when they both knew that she could control the snowflakes. That wasn’t a problem. She could play to. Some of the butterflies fluttered around her and they went back to the princess.
She stopped running and turned around and jumped just as the princess jumped and their blades met. She grinned showing all her teeth as they both battled for dominance. And out of nowhere a spear came flying almost cutting her eye and that had her reeling.
Tresicta swung her scythe grazing her in the leg. The armor was surprisingly strong. Sapphire had taken a breather. The initial shock of having her eyes almost cut out was now a fleeting memory. The woman only had one scythe now and no fan. And it seemed weapons that came out of nowhere.
She still had her snow.
She leaped again and as she did so a dagger went flying past her shoulder, grazing her shoulder really close to her neck. That took a moment of her attention, and Tresicta took the opportunity and she took the brunt of her hit on the other shoulder and she went falling. But as she did, five spinning snowflakes that resembled shruikens sped towards her.
She followed the controller down into all the chaos she had birthed and they sized each other up, the butterflies fluttering about the two of them.
“Are you tired child?” she taunted.
And Sapphire was running. She swung her blade at nothing. Tresicta that had been standing there was no longer there. She was sure she was in an illusion. Tresicta came at her from the side scythe making contact with her cheek, but before she could just breeze past, she collided into her arm and she brought the powerful woman onto her back once again.
Sapphire flipped back, almost taking the blade of her other scythe as it came out of the air. She couldn’t answer the questions of how things kept appearing when she heard it. Steel coming towards her and it went across her shoulder and so did another one over the other shoulder and beside both legs and she was bound.
Tresicta hit her hard in her chest knocking her blade out of her arm, and was able to knock out some blood from her mouth. She followed immediately, before she could get back onto her feet multiple shruikens coming upon her, which hand her shielding her face and Tresicta appeared from above hitting her with the scythe, and before she touched the ground she was gone.
The butterflies had transportation seals and that was how she had multiple weapons at her disposal, and she could also move around with ease. Just like teleportation and she used it to the fullest with her scythe against the Elementan princess.
The sound of her pain made everything better.
Sapphire screamed and then multiple spikes cascaded the field halting her in her movement and then there was a huge blast of ice fire. She wasn’t so lucky some of it got on her, and the cloth that covered skin at that area was completely destroyed. That part of her skin stayed red for a long time before she absorbed it. And even after absorbing it, there was still that freezing burning pain that was still there on her torso. She could feel like just a tiny portion inside her had melted.
That just made her mad.
Sapphire had her blade back in hand and snowflakes behind her. She would not be defeated.
Stephanie stood putting more ice after ice and Kieran tried to torch her. She never thought she’d be on the receiving end of Kieran’s heat. When they had first met, she never thought that this would happen, but here she was. Still without a plan on what to do.
She abandoned the ice that was freezing the ground as she went on the offence. Kieran aimed his knifes at every part of her body. They met ice and she crashed through that breathing out a storm. Kieran teleported out of there and she turned around immediately, throwing her fist immediately which Kieran caught with a fist full of flame.
“Your signature ice fists” he said with a smile.
“You can still stop this”.
“I don’t intend to”.
It was a fight between fire and Ice. Water on any day beats fire, but fire melts ice. There was a sleeve of fire and there was a sleeve for ice. It was pointless with the way the ice melted into a puddle beneath them. It was really pointless, but she wasn’t one to give up. It was a battle of wills and he was winning.
“What happened after C-Tresicta took you?”
“We attacked the summit and you could say I was inspired”.
If it weren’t a fire user, he would have lost feeling in everything and the ice would have eaten him from inside out. “Just give up. This would be easier” and the flame got hotter and the ice protecting her melted, but he didn’t let go of her.
And he watched as her face dropped. Not emotionally, but literally. Her face dropped like it was melting, her whole body was melting that he couldn’t hold her hand anymore. Now he stood in a suspiciously huge puddle. He didn’t move but there was a ripple. He didn’t expect the hit on his cheek. He wasn’t even sure what hit him. His cheek was wet.
He was hit again on his other cheek. And then an uppercut. That was able to put him on one knee. A blob of water floated out. It took form and it was Stephanie without her actual body. It was her, but made of water. He had never seen her use that type of attack before.
She ran at him and before he could even attack, she was back in the puddle and an icicle penetrated his leg, and then vines came up coiling round him like snakes, and he was rooted to that position the puddle slowly becoming red. Stephanie reverted back to her normal form.
“That’s new” he stated.
She stayed silent. Multiple water bubbles came out from the puddle underneath them.
“If you had drowned me that would have been better” and opened his mouth Stephanie was gifted with the dragon’s flame.
Using her steel to cut through a snowflake was surprisingly hard. She was wasting too much time on the princess, not like she had a choice. The girl wouldn’t let up. She could really use with Kieran’s involvement now, but he seemed held up. And that stupid pesky butterflies. She was distracted and not focusing her attention to the cloud making it dwindle. She looked at Dilia at the top and then back to Sapphire.
The princess had her whole body bathed in ice fire and so were the snowflakes, and they weren’t melting. This was dangerous territory. She attacked and Tresicta knew she had to retreat.
“Everyone now!” Victor ordered and he was the first to shoot his lasers into it. The other leaders followed and every other Supernatural shot with all their powers into it to destroy it.
Tresicta watched with wide eyes as they did that, and Sapphire had her where she wanted her. She punched her in the face, a kick to the back of the head, her neck, her ribs, the back of her neck and then giving her a bear hug and that made her scream. She couldn’t even hold it in.
Sapphire tossed her up and hit her with her blade like she was a ball. She hit the ground and rolled through the dirt, her body steaming as she skidded to a stop. She needed Kieran. A fire waterfall would be really good now. She stood back on wobbly knees and her fan left her scythe and she threw it at the princess.
She screamed and a literal ice fire snake just came out of the atmosphere and swallowed the fan. While the snake struggled with the spinning fan cutting its fragile body in pieces, Tresicta pulled off the sleeves from her arms, most of her body red, and she transported just before Sapphire and she touched the girl.
Even though her body was covered with the ice fire, she touched her and Sapphire gasped when the flames were extinguished. She wasn’t able to move, even if she wanted to. Tresicta pulled her hand back and she could see the ice fire coming out of her chest, and with a single push it was back in her chest and she was tossed into the air screaming.
She had never been hit with the ice fire. She never thought that she would one day get hit by her own power. She felt nothing but pain. Like her insides had been burnt. Like she swallowed a fireball. Everything felt like liquid jelly and she coughed out blood, and she felt she was going to cough out her entire insides.
Her armor had melted and she couldn’t feel her connection with the snow. She couldn’t call for Ice and Frost. She closed her eyes and calmly accepted that she was going to be in a whole state of pain, but she was snatched out of the air into strong arms.
Opening her eyes, she looked up at Hale.
“Did I die already?”
“I wasn’t gone for that long, and you’re already overdramatic”.
She smiled weakly. “What happened?” she croaked.
When Sapphire had left the barrier that she didn’t know had been set up and she didn’t know who had set it up, he was sure he was going to die. The creatures, the steel and being trampled upon by other soldiers.
He heard the crunching of boots and his vision wasn’t all that good, but he’d know that half-shaved hair anyway with dark eye shadow. They had been glaring at each other the entire time they had been together in the summit. He didn’t trust the man and same went for him.
He crouched down and looked into his eyes unimpressed. “How the mighty had fallen Sir Hale” he said a butterfly fluttering on his finger. “Let it never be said that I did nothing for an Elementan” and he placed the butterfly on his forehead.
He stood up with his hands folded and waited for the insect to do its work before putting the barrier down.
“Thank you Sir Dragnalia”.
He just huffed and went his own way.
Dragonfly wings appeared on his back and he was off.
“I promised you I’d catch up”.
“Yes you did” she said relaxing in his arms looking at his dark arms around her. His snow white braid had lost its neatness, and she was sure hers had too. “You also promised other things”.
A butterfly landed on her chest.
“Yes I did”.
Tresicta got her steel back from the snake that had just disappeared back into the atmosphere. She held it and put some of the ice flame on her fan and threw it at Dilia.
“Breeze!!” Snow called getting on the Pegasus hoping to get closer to the cloud to finally stop it. But he saw something eye-catching. There were only a few people who could use ice fire. And that was him and his first daughter. Seeing it moving, covering steel and it was going towards Dilia, and she didn’t know from her body language.
“Move” he told him.
And he wasn’t fast enough. The steel was faster and he knew the damage that power could do.
“I’m going to use your back” and he was on the feet, put all the strength in his knees and he jumped up into the sky. The steel was by her side and she was none the wiser. He didn’t see the look on her face, his eyes were on the steel. She followed his line of steel and before she could do anything, he had her in his hands and he twisted both of them out of the way kicking the steel away.
Dilia held onto him tight. She was the one keeping them floating.
“You know there was no need to do that” she whispered.
“Of course” he replied sarcastically.
They both looked at the ongoing battle. “What more can we give?” she asked him.
“We keep going till we can’t no more” he replied.
Stephanie stood her finger pointing towards Kieran. He had tried to burn her in his bound position, but there was a fact that most Supernaturals didn’t know. That there was water inside them. And in the process of trying to fry her like a unicorn, she made him choke bringing a trail of water from his throat and his nose.
She wasn’t hurting him and he wasn’t hurting her. And this was a good distraction. Kieran needed his mind, and now he was focusing on trying to breathe, he couldn’t focus on other things.
There was a thud.
Turning around she came face-to-face with Clara.
“Stephanie” she said softly.
That wouldn’t work on her.
Multiple ice shards shot from the puddle, but Tresicta flipped over it, her hand shot out and Stephanie could feel movements over her armor. Inspecting it was water bubbles taking place on her body. She had no control as it got to a moderate side and then they all popped.
It was worse the second time it happened.
The screams didn’t matter this time. She tossed her away and looked to a wheezing Kieran.
“I need you to set them on fire” she said no longer smiling as she levitated.
Kieran didn’t need to go up this time before fire fell from the sky.
And this time she didn’t need to pity them. She made the ball above her head so massive that it rivalled her gigantic throne. The fire kept falling and when she gave him the signal to stop, she let it go with a scream.
The soldiers that had survived the fire saw that coming towards them, were lost on what to do. They had given it their all and that didn’t seem enough.
‘Was this the end?’ was the question on every soldier’s mind. Was this the end of home world?
Some had accepted their fate and others still wanted to go out on their feet.
They all screamed.
Tresicta grinned and turned to Kieran, then she made a face and then she turned back to the field when there was no blast. Instead her attack was going up and then into the cloud and she saw all the butterflies disperse.
“What just happened?!” Kieran asked surprised.
Tresicta just grinned. “No matter” she said both scythes in her hand. “Things just keep getting better and better”.
