Chapter 20 Uncertain Destinations

The damage was nothing small. Not what would take a week or couple of months to fix. Tresicta had destroyed everything and it wasn’t an overstatement. Communication was still down, so was the electricity and the flow of water. That had to be taken care of first before the structures could come back.
And they were needed for the sick, the injured, the dead and the prisoners. But for now they would make do with what they had.
Danny smiled at the official who let her into the makeshift medical unit.
She smiled when she saw that familiar mischievous blonde.
She sat across her, the table their only barrier.
“You had to be there” Danny began.
“I know. I’ve heard stories. You’re a hero and you’ve barely been here”.
“Why are you still in here anyway?”
“They want to make sure that I still don’t have evil in me, and there’s also trauma they claim I have, and also people still need to accept that I wasn’t the one that did all that”.
“But you aren’t. The leaders all spoke for you!” she argued hotly.
“Now it’s up to the Supernaturals to accept” she smiled. “How did the verdict go?”
Danny sighed.
“I just wish I was the one to do it, because I always knew it. It happened and I was there, and not there at the same time”.
“I’m sorry” Danny apologized.
“I can just imagine how Stephanie feels”.
Stephanie had come to visit. They were friends no matter how much she denied it, and she almost killed her. It wasn’t her they had all assured her. She didn’t know anything they all said, but she had done that. She had singlehandedly destroyed home world with a boy she knew she hated, and had killed Supernaturals. There was blood on her hand. When she looked into the princess’ eyes, she could still see the guarded look.
The four of them had history, had memories and it was ruined.
Danny was a hero and had been awarded now, and the charge of treason was dropped against her. So were the charges against Clara. The creepy twins that had tried to kill all of them a long time ago had been pardoned because of their involvement in them winning the war.
“Where’s Kieran?” Clara asked quietly.
“Was taken and I haven’t gone to see him. I won’t be able to look him in the eye. He was the first boy I liked, and I considered him a friend and he just threw that away. He killed a lot Clara, he tried to kill all of us. Stephanie included…..and he likes her”.
“I can’t say I’m surprised”.
Danny bowed her head at the sad atmosphere. She was going to need therapy. There was a lot of emotional trauma involved. What happened between the four of them had changed things. Nothing would be the same, but one thing she knew was that Clara and she were forever.
“You want to get out of here?” she suggested.
“I thought you’d never ask”. Clara laughed. “Looks I’m that much of an influence on you”.
Tresicta stayed silent as her body was put in some sort of metal cage. Her head was the only thing free as she was hoisted up high above the room. There was the binding seal on the prison, also the chains and even the attire she wore underneath.
She needed to rest and she knew it would only be a matter of time till she broke out. And when she did she’d kill them all starting with that Tempan Daniella. For now she needed to eat, sleep and get her strength back.
Stephanie nodded at the official as she was led into a structure that was now the makeshift justice centre. She walked in and sat before a glass plane. On the other side Kieran was looking back at her.
They had fought like opponents. Like they never knew each other. They were on opposite sides, and she had come so close to killing him, and him the same. Like all that time that they had together was nothing. He had aided in destroying their home, destroying everything. And now she was before him trying to be mad, wanting to ask questions, but her heart…..her cold heart was heavy with emotions.
They were silent for a while before she spoke. “You could have told them mind control”.
“I don’t lie. And no need to be surprised Stephanie, you know what I am. It’s in me and there’s no changing it”.
“You can, but you don’t want to” she stated.
“Exactly!” he snapped. “I don’t want to”. “If my parents could see me now, I know that they’d be so proud. They’ve been waiting for this day since I could walk”.
“You seem happy” she sighed.
“I am happy” he replied.
“You know what this means, right?” she asked just to clarify.
He stood up and leaned against the glass plane. “I do” she didn’t even flinch as her chair levitated and the glass plane separated and he stuck his head through and he kissed her. “I love you”.
He lowered her back down and closed the plane. “I-I….”
“I know your answer”.
She stood up and turned her back to him. “Good bye Kieran” and this time it was permanent.
Her hands were still on her lips as she exited the structure and her guards flanked her. “What happened your highness?”
“Nothing” she replied coldly. “Take me back home”.
Kieran lay his back against the wall, his eyes closed as he meditated. He swore he could hear electrical metal music, and when he opened his eyes was to see a red portal emitting smoke, and someone climbed out of it.
“Well I’ll be burned. Son!!” his dad exclaimed. “You turned faster than your mum ever could”. A man dressed in tight leather, and with a lot of piercings and slicked back blonde hair looked down at Kieran. “I felt when the seal was activated. Your mum will be so happy to see you”.
“I’ve never been prouder….”
“Yeah” he cut him off. There were no surveillance, but someone would get the inkling soon.
“Are you ready to go home?” he asked glistening gold eyes.
“Yes” he replied with a smirk of his own. This was him and he wasn’t going to hide it. He was going to embrace it openly. Evil was in his blood.
“Fire squad” his dad said pushing his fist out and he could feel the room gradually become hotter. He bumped fists with his dad.
“Fire squad” he repeated. This was the family business.
Stephanie stopped as she heard the explosion behind her. She turned to see the structure go up in flames. She didn’t listen to the guards shouting at themselves. She just stared looking at the creature that had just flown away from the burning mess.
“Princess what are your orders?” the head guard asked.
Stephanie stayed silent for a while, just looking at the structure as some of them ran to put it out. “That is Luvina’s problem” he said turning around and continuing her walk.
She halted her steps. “But seeing the circumstance that the overlord is indisposed at the moment, probably with the king and the others, let’s give them a five second head start”.
So this was how it was going to go between them? Her chasing him down like a jilted lover. She had a duty and it was to keep her home, all of it safe. Even if it had been someone dear to her. She wouldn’t just let him do as she liked.
Maybe she had a little bit of her older sister’s spirit in her. The thrill of the chase was exhilarating.
The End.
