CHAPTER 17

LAURA'S BATTLE TO GET OUT OF THE WOODS
"Wait, what happened to our friends, and why are they not online anymore?Amanda, Jason, and Kitty are gone. Come on, where are they? I will try to call Jason."
She contacted Jason, but the phone just rang and he didn’t answer the call, so she decided to just send a message.
"Jason, where are you and Kitty?" message sent.
"We are just here at Miss Shaira's house; sorry for the delay in responding; we were simply connecting blissfully.
Sir Claude suddenly called.
"Lara, where are your friends?"
"Hello sir, they never came back here and I still have no idea."
"Send those people home and I want them now!"
"Yes, sir Claude."
The call has been dropped.
I can't tell Sir Claude that they are just joyfully spending time because he will be furious.
They have been scolded for their consecutive absences. I will just go to Miss Shaira, and I know I will arrive there late in the evening as long as I can go to them and get them in my car. "This will annoy us both; sir is a bit angry."
Lara was on her way to Miss Shaira's house. She suddenly felt pain in her chest and seemed to not understand the feeling. She felt unhappy, sad, and uncomfortable about herself while heading to Miss Shaira's house.
At exactly 7 p.m., she arrived at Shaira's gate. She felt uncomfortable and anxious, and she didn't come down from her car immediately. She stayed there for about five minutes.
Lara prayed first before she came down. As she was getting ready to tap the doorbell, she put her phone on her bra first. She used to do this whenever she could sense something bad happening. She looked at the house and observed the ambiance. It was quiet, and the rooms were not well lit.
She tapped the doorbell three times, and she waited about three minutes for someone to get out of the gate and open it.
She saw Miss Shaira coming to the gate, and still she was wearing the black dress.
"Hey, you are now coming late here! Who are you looking for?"
"Good evening, Miss Shaira; I don't think that you would remember my name or my face. I'm Lara, and I'm Amanda's friend, and we came here before and had a nice bonding experience during Amanda's birthday. I'm looking for my friends; they are Jason and Kitty, and I also want to see Amanda."
"I received a message earlier, and they texted me they are here."
"Oh yeah, come inside!" "Let's wait for them to come home; they were just in town and buy some groceries." Lara seemed to believe Miss Shaira.
Lara entered the house, and Miss Amanda made a hot drink of coffee, but Lara refused to drink it.
"Come on, dear, have a little sip of coffee."
"Oh, Miss Shaira I am really sorry for refusing your hot drink of coffee, as my doctor told me not to drink coffee because I have hyperacidity and I need to be conscious of what foods to eat.
"Oh, really? What do you want to eat?"
"Miss Shaira, don't worry because I have already eaten my dinner and I brought foods, and they are in my car."
"Oh, okay! You seemed tough!"
"What did you say, Miss Shaira?"
"Oh nothing, dear, let us wait for them."
Miss Shaira found difficulty with Lara on how it will be poisoned and will gradually die from her poisonous ingredients. She made a plan for how to kill Lara. She wanted all of them dead because she thought that it would lead to trouble for her.
Lara was standing and walking inside the living room because she got bored of waiting for her friends.
Miss Shaira was holding a baseball bat, and she was about to beat Lara, but Lara abruptly noticed.
Lara immediately ran, and she didn't know where she was heading either. She was hiding in the plants, and she saw Miss Shaira finding her.
"Oh, you can't hide here, and I will still be able to find you because I know this place well."
Lara saw a snake near her, and she screamed. Miss Shaira saw her, but ran as fast as she could. She saw Miss Shaira running towards her.
"I'm sweating profusely, and I don't know where to run because I can only see vast forests. It was dark as I walked the rugged trail and rocky terrain. I haven't seen Miss Shaira because it's dark and I can only see the dim light of the moon."
"I'm afraid of the dark, but I need to be strong so that I don't get hurt. I will help my friends get out of here."
Lara checked her phone, intending to call the police, but there was no service in the jungle.
"Hay, there's a cellphone but no signal."
She kept heading into the dense foliage, looking for a signal, but it seemed impossible.
Lara slid down the cliff due to the darkness, her phone got thrown away, and she was unscathed due to the dense, autumnal leaves.
"Woops! I didn't notice there was a cliff in this forest; yeah, Miss Shaira won't be able to find me here, and I'm safe; I will stay here until the light appears out."
She tried to find her phone but was unable to because it was dark and surrounded with dried fallen leaves.
She waits for the sun to rise in the morning and provide adequate light.
She looked for her phone when she noticed the faint light, but she couldn't find it. She climbed slowly, but she fell and spotted a skull, so she immediately stood up.
Lara was taken aback by what she saw, but she ignored it since what mattered to her was getting upstairs and finding the phone. Her climb up the cliff took her thirty minutes.

She assumed it was three o'clock in the morning, and she was still looking for her phone, but she couldn't find it.
She thought about how she was going to get out of the gate.
