CHAPTER 8

          JAMES VACATION
Her auntie knocked and told her to come down to eat breakfast. She fixed her bed first and combed her hair.
"Good morning, auntie! I'm sorry if I came down just now and didn't help you with cooking."
"It's okay; sit there," she said sparingly.
While eating, Amanda noticed that her aunt Shaira was silent. So she decided to speak.
"Auntie, are you going out today?"
"Why? Will you leave me when I'm not here at home?"
"It's not like that, Auntie; I want to accompany you wherever you're going so that you can be with someone."
Her auntie did not speak until she finished eating, so Amanda thought of giving her money.
"Auntie, I will give it to you, so you can buy what you want. I am grateful to you for taking good care of me."
"That's nothing, dear." Amanda felt pity for her auntie, and her aunt stood up and hugged her back.
"You're welcome, Auntie!"
"Why do you call me Auntie? I'm your mommy!"
"You're really young, and have you forgotten that I'm your mom?"
"Ah, I'm sorry, mommy."Amanda called her aunt Mommy starting today; in her mind, maybe she just really missed her daughter.
"Sweetheart, I will just go to the market later!"
"Okay, mommy," answered Amanda sparingly.
Her aunt had left, and James called.
"Babe, I asked permission of our boss, and he agreed to a vacation leave for three days."
"Wow, babe, that's very good news."
"I'll be there later, okay?"
"No worries; I will arrive there safe and sound."
"See you, babe."
"See you, take care!"
Amanda informed her auntie that her boyfriend would come, and she agreed. She said to herself that she made a mistake in her aunt's judgment. She was kind and considerate.
a few hours later.
Someone rang the doorbell outside the gate.
"Dear, I will open the gate."
"Alright, mommy, and maybe that's my boyfriend." Her auntie came out, and she tried to enter her aunt's room.
"Hayss, it's locked."She would have peeked in Auntie's room to see what was inside. She wanted to know what those medicines were. If she asked, she might suspect that her room was entered.
"Hello, Ma'am Shaira!"
"I'm James, Amanda's boyfriend."
"Hi, dear!"
"Get inside; she's waiting in the living room."
James entered the house, and the two of them finally met.
"Babe, I really missed you."
"I'm really sorry that I only came to see you now." "Oh, it's okay; no worries, babe."
"The important thing is that we met now," she added. They hugged each other.
"Sit first, babe, and I'll prepare you lunch."
"Auntie, I'll cook for now."
"Okay, dear, no problem."
Amanda's boyfriend and Auntie Shaira talked.
"Dear, you have a long trip. For sure, you are really tired."
"Yes, Ma'am Shaira, I think I traveled for 4.5 hours." "It's really far."
"I'm on leave for three days, and if it's okay with you, I'm just here so I can be with Amanda. I haven't seen her since she left our place."
"It's okay, dear, so the house won't be sad. Our house is very big, but it's just the two of us," she said with a smile.
"Thank you so much, Ma'am Shaira."
Amanda finished cooking and called her colleagues to eat.
"It's been a long time since I haven't experienced this kind of moment," said her auntie.
"Is that so, mommy?"
"Yes, but I don't know when the last time was or what year it was that I had a dinner party."
But Amanda didn't ask anything, as she was very tactful with her words.
After they ate, they went upstairs to Amanda's room and took James's big backpack.
"Babe, when are you leaving your aunt's house?" James asked seriously.
"Babe, I'm still trying to find out if Auntie is sick. She has medicines in her room, and she never shared what her illness was. She rarely tells stories."
"Oh, okay, babe, but I hope you can join us on our outing next week."
Amanda's cellphone rang.
"Hi everyone!"       Amanda tapped into the group call.
"Amanda, is James there?" asked Jason.
"Yes, why?"
"Because the boss said to send him home," Jason said seriously.
James joined the conversation.
"Is that so, Jez? He agreed yesterday. I will call Sir right now."
"Just wait, James; he said our computers are defective again."
"Is that true, Jez?"
"Yes, believe me," Jason suddenly laughed.
"Oh James, you're really fooling me."
"That's just a joke, James; you immediately believed it as if you didn't know me."
"Guys, we decided that we will go there on Sunday. We will visit you; there is no work on Sunday," said Lara.
"Yes, that's why we want to gather and jam together."
"It's been a while since we haven't been together, and we are just always busy at work."
"Okay guys, I will let my auntie know first if she agrees for you to come here on Sunday."
"Sure, Amanda, maybe your auntie will agree to that," said Kitty.
"We will put a lot of money in there so that your auntie can be happy."
"We will buy her groceries and clothing for your auntie," said Lara.
"Wow, you guys are very thoughtful!" Amanda praised.
After the conversation, Amanda went downstairs to inform her auntie of what the friends had discussed.
"Auntie!         Auntie!           Auntie!    I'm sorry, mommy," she forgot to call her.
Amanda knocked on the door. Auntie opened the door, and Amanda seemed to have woken her up.
"Mommy, I'm sorry I've woken you up."
"Dear, why is that? I was going to let you know—or if you agree, let me know—that my friends will visit this week if that's okay with you."
"No problem, dear, send them here."
