Chapter 37 Dead End

Nothing to see. All dark. Not a sliver of light. Silent. No sound was heard. Nothing was heard. The air around is neither cold nor hot. Didn't feel anything. You can't smell any scent. This tongue does not feel anything.
Then he woke up and regained consciousness. His eyes slowly opened, letting the morning sun allow him to look around.
"Mr.Izen has regained consciousness," a faint voice could be heard.
"Are you aware? Izen Ghertian?” this time a familiar voice entered Izen's ear cavity. Izen turned towards the source of the voice.
“Jihan Ernst Alvarlegt,” he introduced himself again,
Izen remember this person, “We've met before.”
Izen also remembers this person. Jihan is the one who put Kiau in prison at the time of the murder of his father, Hade Ghertian.
“What?” Jihan looks confused, he silent for a few seconds, “Well...” he doesn’t want to make a fuss about that.
Jihan approached Izen's bed, “You were found unconscious. Then they rushed you to this hospital. You just woke up from a coma a month ago.” Jihan explained, summing up everything that happened until Izen ended up here.
"How about the others?" Izen asked.
"Another?" instead of answering Izen's question, Jihan asked back. "You mean your partner? Redwinston Rudal?” Izen nodded slightly in agreement. "He was declared missing, the same day you were found." Jihan opened his small note.
Jihan looked at Izen, "That's what I wanted to ask, when was the last time you were with him?"
“The two of us are investigating a case together. Until the last second that I can remember, he was with me.” replied Izen. Jihan wrote down Izen's statement in his notebook.
Izen gasped, “Then what about the others? Kiau? Tieden? Niem? Pifu? And Morris?" Izen let out all the questions he wanted to ask.
"Wait a minute." Jihan opened his small note again. “I don't know the names you mentioned. But for the last one, Morris Syvzena, right?” Jihan flipped his book to find information about Morris, Izen nodded slightly and waited for Jihan to give him the information.
"Didn't Mr Morris Syvzena die in a hospital bomb months ago?" Jihan looked at his book carefully.
Izen didn't say anything. In his mind he thought about all the information he had just received. Rudal was declared missing to coincide with its discovery. The information regarding Morris is still the same, namely his fake death in the bomb, which it is true that there isn’t any body was found at that time. Everyone thought maybe his body was blown to pieces by the explosion.
While the others, Kiau, Tieden, Niem, and Pifu, are completely unknown. Perhaps it was natural for Tieden, Niem, and Pifu to have their identities kept secret as part of illegal human research. But it's strange that even if Kiau is not known, Jihan should have known Kiau, because Jihan had handled Kiau's case before.
“You really don't know Kiau? Kiau Youren?” Izen tried to confirm.
Jihan looked confidently, "Not at all," he answered flatly. “Can you stop asking me weird things. The doctor said there is a possibility that you have a slight problem with your brain, what does this mean?” Jihan closed his book and walked away.
"It's my fault also telling you about the investigation matter, even though you just woke up from a coma." Jihan patted his forehead, "Get some rest. You are also temporarily relieved of police work, to restore your health. As for the loss of your co-worker, the Redwiston Rudal, don't think too much about it. I handle the case.” Jihan waved his hand before exiting the door.
"I'll ask you a few questions once you're better," Jihan's last words were said before he went out and closed the door. Izen wanted to stop him, but he didn't say anything.
Izen tried to remember everything. He remembered that back then they had been talking about the 'last jar' and 'superhuman' and 'sensory abilities'. Izen took a paper and scribbled on it with the names of everyone related.
Suddenly he stopped writing, he remembered how to pass on that super ability 'just like passing on from generation one to generation two'. From the story Pifu told, which said that he was the second generation, the successor of Piele. Then there are the names Taringa, Rurimi, Anya, and Irung.
Izen remembered how pale Kiau's face was when he saw Morris who was the second generation of Rurimi. Does that mean the transfer of this ability causes the previous person to lose their life?
Izen gasped. That means, the transfer to the last jar with all of his sensory abilities that are above normal humans, will make all the second generation die. Kiau, Tieden, Morris, Pifu, and Niem. But there is a possibility that one of them is still alive, as the last jar.
Izen couldn't just sit there. He had to find them soon. He rose from his bed. Changing the patient's clothes with his own. Then leave the hospital.
“Mr.Izen?” he greeted with a bit of surprise, “Thank goodness you're getting better. Have you been discharged from the hospital?” this person was one of the police officers who saw Izen walking into the police station.
“Can I borrow it for a moment? There are several people I want to find,” Izen approached him.
"Sure." he replied, the person's tone suddenly turned even.
Izen immediately looked for information about the others in the police data. And sure enough, all the information regarding the people in the study was completely absent. Tieden, Niem, Pifu and the first generation, there is no data regarding them. As if they never existed.
But when Izen is looking for data regarding Kiau. He didn't find anything either. There is no data on Kiau, even though Kiau was a popular journalist before he was made a research rat. But everything disappeared. Izen could only think that this was another result of being the last jar.
But what about Rudal? Why doesn't the data disappear? Then why was he the only survivor? Was Rudal the last jar? That's why he disappeared?
Izen was confused again. He seemed to have hit a dead end again. He looked down. But then he remembered. There is someone who might know it all. Izen immediately left the police station to meet the person, Sherwin.
Izen wasn't sure if Sherwin had also run away from his house, the important thing was that he had to meet that person and get all the answers. Izen rushes to Sherwin's house.
"Sherwin!" call him. “Where are Rudal and the others?”
Sherwin turned his head, he chuckled “Are you stupid? How will I know if I'm not with you at that time? You saw it yourself, didn't you?"
"Then tell me things you haven't told me and I don't know." Izen glared at Sherwin.
“I purposely made Kiau follow me to the island.” said Sherwin flatly, "I was ordered to bring a new experimental human that will make the research process go faster." instead of getting answers to Izen's questions, Izen actually got new information that he didn't expect. "I'm staying here to watch over Kiau."
"What?" Izen didn't seem to expect that. "Then who will be the last jar?" Izen asked again.
Sherwin answered him in an even tone, “I don't know.”
Izen felt strange about the change in Sherwin. Sherwin is not the type to talk flatly like that, Sherwin will usually speak in a mocking or annoyed tone, he will chuckle or laugh. Not flat like this.
But Sherwin didn’t seem to be lying. With the last answer from Sherwin, Izen returned to a dead end again.
