Chapter 42

Ara's POV...
I widen my eyes at Zach's action, yet I was more surprised at myself for only staying silent as Zach continues to kiss me passionately. Could this be the effect of the alcohol that got me feeling lazy tonight? I don't know, but letting him kiss me right now when all I could recall was the kiss I had with Junghwa that night got me feeling wrong about this. This isn't right.
"Zach," I say as I gently push him away from me, breaking the kiss.
"What is it, Ara?" Zach asks, looking disappointed at my action. His hand then gently touches my chin as we continue our eye contact. I feel awkward in this moment and especially knowing that he probably wants anothet explanation of why I don't feel the same way as him. Damn it, can feelings even be explain through words?
"What the hell is going on here?"
Zach and I turn our heads in shock as we see Junghwa approaching us, looking badly tipsy. His eyes looked somehow frustrated, but at the same time, he also looked quite emotional.
"Junghwa," I say with a slightly higher tone.
"What the hell are you guys doing?" Junghwa asks, with the same tipsy yet emotional look in his eyes.
"Just having a moment," Zach states in a chill tone. "Man, is that a problem for you?"
Junghwa turns his vision from Zach to me. Suddenly his looked like he has flames of fury burning inside, which honestly got me surprised since I didn't expect him to behave this when he sees Zach and I together in the corner. For crying out loud, we didn't even do anything and was just talking.
"So are you guys exclusive or something?" Junghwa asks. From the tone of his voice, I could sense that he sounds upset.
"We're close, Junghwa," Zach says, slowly he puts his arm around my waist, which almost gave me an electric shock.
"Though I'm not one who likes to push a lady for something she's not ready about," Zach adds.
Hearing that, Junghwa continues to shift his gaze between Zach and I, looking more and more furious. Upset, he quickly walks away into the crowd, getting lost with fury written all over his face.
"Junghwa," I call out to him, but he didn't turn his head. Other than the fact the music is too loud, I assumed even if he did hear me, he wouldn't have look back knowing that he's upset with me right now.
"He's just pretty drunk. He'll be ok," Zach says. I can feel that he's trying to make me not worry too much about Junghwa, but honestly, it's not helping. Other than being worried about him, I also feel bad that he had to see me and Zach in a moment where I assumed he must have thought of something. The thought of the possibilities of him being upset, somehow made me feel sad.
"Ara, are you ok?" Zach asks.
"I'm fine," I say, though I'm pretty sure he knew from my face that I'm not fine. With the thought of Junghwa running around in my head, I thought I should see how he's doing, especially knowing that he is tipsy right now.
"I'm gonna check on Junghwa first," I say.
"Ok," Zach says, though I see his thin lips slowly forming a frown. Honestly it kind of made me feel bad that he's probably feeling uncomfortable about the thought of me and Junghwa.
I rush through the crowd in search of Junghwa, yet I don't see him anywhere in the sea of people. I realized that I've lost him in the crowd.
Meanwhile...
"Wohoo....cheers for tonight," Grace says as she takes another shot of cocktail.
"That's like your fifth glass tonight," Matt says, looking a bit worried at the tipsy girl as she continues to dance a little. Realizing she had took five shots, he is starting to think that she is unable to go to school tomorrow.
"As if that matters. All that matters now is that we party hard, Matt," Grace says in a drunk tone, making Matt more worried.
"Matt! Grace! Wait...Grace? How many shots did you took?" Ara asks as she almost lose her breath after running around the bar looking for Junghwa.
"Five shots and I'm still ok," Grace says as she attempts to take her sixth glass, but Matt quickly grabs it before she could.
"Looks like she had enough alcohol for tonight," Matt states.
"Yeah," Ara says. "By the way, have you seen Junghwa anywhere?"
"He actually passed by a few minutes ago. He said he was gonna go home," Matt says.
"Ok, thanks," Ara says. "I'll check if he's still outside. After that, I'll take Grace back home."
"Hey, it's ok. Zach and I can take Grace home after. Looking at her condition I think it's better than she return home now," Matt says while staring at the drunk Grace, who is now sitting on one of the bar chairs while giggling and moving her legs side to side.
"Ok, thanks," Ara says, before rushes to find the exit door of the bar to look for Junghwa.
Outside the bar...
As Ara exits the crowded bar, she sees a a familiar male figure in a navy hoodie, standing next to his car as he can be seen staring at his phone. From a distance, she could already tell that the boy looked both upset and emotional.
"Junghwa," Ara calls out to him as she runs towards his direction, quickly getting his attention as he shifts his gaze from his phone to her.
"Are you ok?" Ara asks as she grabs his right hand upon reaching him. The two are now standing just inches from each other.
"I'm fine," Junghwa says in a flat tone. "Why are you even asking me this?"
"What do you mean why?" Ara asks.
"Aren't you with Zach? Man, why are you asking me this as if we have something?" Junghwa asks, this time in a more dramatic yet emotional tone.
Hearing that, Ara almost drop her jaws at his sudden question. She honestly wanted to slap his cheek for asking something she thought was stupid, but again realized that wouldn't be a proper way to finish their problem.
"Something? Huh, Zach and I were only talking and you had to come up and be acting as if there was a big problem," Ara says in a more aggressive tone.
"Can you even be clear about your own words? Just tell me if you like Zach," Junghwa states. "I get it."
"Junghwa, you know I only see Zach as a friend. You're really making things dramatic right now," Ara says. Slowly, she felt a tear slide down her right eye. She wanted to believe that she's probably feeling kind of emotional due to the effect from the alcohol. She didn't expect herself to cry all so sudden.
Looking at the young girl crying, Junghwa felt his heart being stabbed by a blade. Yet, his pride didn't fully allow him to let out the tears in his eyes. Instead, his lips forced himself to form a small smile, even though his eyes are speaking differently. He never meant for his words to hurt Ara in a way, yet he didn't want to be too vulnerable in front of her to show that he's feeling sorry.
"You're playing the victim right now," Ara says in between sobs. She's starting to find it harder to not be too emotional in this moment, making Junghwa feel more guilty.
"Ara, it's nothing at all. You have the rights to like Zach, not like it's a crime," Junghwa says. "Sorry if I caused a misunderstanding."
"You're being dramatic, Junghwa," Ara says. "It's enough that you didn't like me, but stop making it seems like I never liked you and that you were the one who got hurt."
Ara's sharp words hit Junghwa right in his heart. He felt like she found the perfect words to hurt him well in the center. Tinkling the guilt in him, Junghwa feels as if he is the villain of their story. He is the one who broke her heart, but played the victim just because he didn't like the idea of her being with Zach. He feels selfish.
"Ara, I'm sorry," Junghwa says.
To be continue...
