Chapter 50 Loose Ends
Hurrying through the field with literally no idea of being followed, Tina made her way to a deserted part of the park which was slightly into the woods– carefully watching her steps at every step she took.
The atmosphere alone sends that creepy vibes down ones’ spine– the quietness that engulf the area was like that of a cemetery. Phidel on the other hand, followed as quietly as possible– keeping her distance so as not to get noticed.
Though she could see every movement and demeanor of the former; the distance between them was vast– giving her enough room to sneak into hiding whenever Tina tried looking out for any stalker. With a successful close-up watch on the latter, she finally got to her destination– making Phidel swiftly sneak behind one of the trees as quietly as possible as Tina glanced back once again.
When she was sure she was alone, she knelt beneath one of the trees which she had inscribed an indication on– for easy identification so as not to lose track of it; as almost all the trees looked like. Phidel who risked the chance of getting spotted if she tried going any further– only remained at her hideout while she craned her neck to have a look. Straining her eyes in the process if she could get anything but it all remained pointless.
At that moment, Tina jolted to her full length– lurking around for the last time before rushing off. Just as she left, Phidel scampered at the pace of lightening to the area where the former initially stood to find out things for herself– the evidence of whatever her opponent came for clearly before her eyes.
Judging from the pattern left behind by the object Tina came for, she could tell it was a Pendrive. As if on an impulse, Phidel’s gaze deftly followed the path the latter took.
“Oh shit.” She uttered, dashing off after Tina so as not to lose track of her– knowing well she was up to something. And if her assumptions were to be right, that drive could be evidence of the clip that was toiled with.
Racing through the woods, she instinctively came to an abrupt halt which made her almost fall over– swiftly dashing behind a nearby tree in the process. She knew well Tina will not sit still and watch her without doing anything but didn’t expect her to meet someone secretly in the woods.
“What’s she up to?” Phidel grumbled to herself as she peeked from behind the tree– staring as the two spoke about something. “Who is He?” She added, straining her ears if she could hear anything but the distance between them was just not helping. “I wish I could hear what they are saying.” She lamented– watching as the gentleman in the black hoodie handed over a brown envelope to Tina.
Just as he had handed over what he had he hurried off– pulling the hoodie over his head to hide his identity. Phidel at that moment noticed Tina's lips quivered into a smirk of satisfaction and mischief.
Her face instinctively contorted with rage as she watched the victory smile spread across the latter’s face. As impulsive as she was, the urge to confront Tina there and then– palpitated her conscience but then, she held herself back. Knowing she will be the one at a loss if she doesn’t give herself the chance to think through her actions first.
At least take advantage of the rare advantage she had laid hands on to figure out what Tina is up to. She was still with he thoughts when she saw the latter dashed off.
Without waiting for another second, she rushed after her but unfortunately lost out on her as they got to the driveway that runs through the park to the main roads. Phidel deftly lurked around if she could spot her tail but there was barely any sign.
A sigh of disappointment instinctively escaped her lips as she ran her fingers through her hair. Then, there came the thought to find out from campus if she went there. Waving an approaching cap to a halt, she settled in it drove off– knowing from the uniform, where to go.

Back at campus, Phidelia stared at the pen then to the concentrated class who had all their attention on the board– her intention known to herself alone.
“Okay,” She sighed, adjusting herself a bit as she stretched her hand towards the pen. “I didn’t want to do this.” With this said, she flicked her fingers, and the pen slightly lifted from its position.
Rowan’s gaze was on the board– about to write down some points when he noticed from the corner of his eye, something floating mid-air, just above his desk. He deftly glance at whatever it was and his eyes instinctively flew wide open in the process. Instantly, he lurked around just to be sure his eyes were not playing tricks with him.
Allowing his gaze to travel back, he noticed something written in his book. PLEASE, FIND PHIDEL – the message read. His brows intuitively furrowed as goosebumps swept him up. He swiftly lurked around then back to the message.
With shaky hands, he picked it up. At that moment, the earlier incident between Phidelia and himself flashed before his eyes. Before he could even digest down the situation, he heard a soft pleading voice which came in a form of a whisper.
“Please help me, Rowan. Help me find my sister.” He instinctively lurked around once again– knowing whose voice it was but there was no more than the concentrated students whose attention were still on the board with none of them aware of his situation.
At that instant, Rowan’s muscle tensed as he stared into space – frozen. Suddenly, it felt like everything was adding up but then he didn’t want to draw to a conclusion. He had to find Phidelia, Phidel, or whoever it was. As if on an impulse, he jolted to his full length– making a scraping sound with his desk as he pushed it back.
Everybody, including their teacher, swiftly glanced at him with fixed gazes as if waiting for him to say something. Rowan, on the other hand, stood staring into space like a possessed soul. Without a word, he dashed off.
“Rowan! Ro….” The teacher called but he was already gone.
Roxy and Bella exchanged glances– still confused as ever. “What’s with him?” Bella questioned and Roxy shrugged, turning her gaze back to the board as she had no answers herself.Download Novelah App
