Chapter 16 A Reply from Isadora (The Sorrowful Days)
It’s been weeks since the burial of Isadora, I’ve been trying hard to adjust but it was difficult. I’ve lived with Mr. James at his residence for a month now and Mr. James had proven himself to be a true brother and friend. Biggie and I have grown closer after the death of Isadora. We have shared stories about ourselves, our past and what we planned for the future. Biggie’s story had inspired and aided my recovery process faster than I thought. One evening, Biggie came visiting, we were sited for our usual chit-chat when Biggie brought up a topic about Isadora. “Sorry to bring this up bro, but what do you think about her?”, Biggie narrowed his eyes at me. “Who?”, I asked him. “Isadora”, Biggie pronounced slowly. “The best woman I’ve ever come across”, I answered with a smile. “She was a lady that would go mile for someone to achieve something, she loves truly”, Biggie began looking at me with a smile. “Yes…I am listening”, I winked at him mischievously. “When I regain consciousness on the hospital bed, the first thing I saw was her face, so innocent and full of life. It pained me that I couldn’t have her because I was already married. So, I decided to just stick around her, learned new things and got healed. We began dating though it didn’t last, we broke up later on. She is very nosy and clever than you might ever think or imagine, she found out that I was playing with her and that was the end…though she didn’t know if I was married or not. She also found out I was into some dark stuff but didn’t get the clue on what I was actually into, to avoid putting her in danger way I resorted to relocating far away from her”, Biggie looked t me with some kind of regret which made me curious. “The why did you return back with your drama of…you know what I am talking about”, I eyed Biggie funnily while he laughed. “When I found out I was being hunted, my family taken away from me, and the only way left for me to get cash was through her, I had no choice but to. I didn’t want to involve in such blackmail but situations forced me to, I found out about you…”, But I cut him short. “And then you threatened to kill me”, I accused Biggie who smiled. “Nope, I didn’t mean it…it was all a bluff, hurting Isadora is the last thing I will ever do in this life. You were the source of joy to her and hurting you would be one thing I will live regretting in this life”, Biggie grinned widely as he patted me on the shoulder. “I hope so…”, I murmured thoughtfully. “You are a lucky man to have her Thompson, you met the lady that truly loved and cherished you”, Biggie smiled sadly. “Sadly, she’s no more…she’s gone”, I wiped a tear. “You have cried and mourn enough Thompson, I think it is time to giddy up and get justice for Isadora”, Biggie spoke up with all seriousness. “What do you mean?”, I asked Biggie curiously. “Isadora did not die from a car accident, she was murdered”, Biggie dropped the bombshell as I sat dumb looking at him like a zombie with shock written all over my face. “How? By who? And why?”, I finally found my voice as Biggie adjusted. “Everyone…I mean, all her crew members were shot to death but a particular crew member was missing. Isadora on her part wasn’t shot but strangled to death. She survived the accident but was killed by hands”, Biggie explained. “How was that even possible…I mean, first was her car losing control, next was the shooting and then Isadora getting killed by hands”,. I asked Biggie looking totally lost. “You have over grief yourself Thompson and Mr. James on his part had made it his duty to take care of you thereby neglecting many things. And Agnes, although she had been nosing around, her business also demanded her attention. I made it my duty to stand in for the whole team. My first move was to get to the accident scene as soon as possible, took photo and video footage of the accident scene and wreckage as well as the corpses before the arrival of the police and the medical team. The moment I heard the serein far away, I took off”, Biggie clasp his hands looking at me. “And what did you find?”, I sat up curiously as Biggie looked at me dryly. “I was able to retrieve Isadora’s phone, the camera found in her bag was broken and I saw an already destroyed flash drive. At first, I saw a phone which was destroyed, but as I made to go, her body posture caught my attention propping me to take a closer look I found a phone hidden, that was the one I retrieved alongside the destroyed flash”, Biggie flashed me a toothy smile as I took a more crucial look at his face. “Where are they”, I asked him. “Everything is in at the investigation room”, Biggie replied. We were still discussing when Mr. James came in looking tired, his shirt was all wet up due to sweat. He was breathing heavily as he looked at Biggie in a very weird way. “You were right”, Mr. James began still maintaining his gaze at Biggie. “Right about what?”, I asked no one in particular getting lost and more confused. “About Isadora, Isadora was murdered…she didn’t die in an accident”, Mr. James replied without looking at me. “I am aware, Biggie already informed me”, I shook my head at Mr. James. “What happened?”, Biggie asked Mr. James who sat down for some minutes before uttering a word. “I was attacked on my way home, at the junction”, Mr. James began as Biggie paced about for some time. “I am not surprise, I knew this was going to happen”, Biggie murmured looking at me. “Why are you looking at me like that?”, I asked Biggie feeling a bit uneasy. “You are their primary target”, Biggie answered looking at me. “Remember the constant threats via sms and the raids on your home? Everything points at one particular direction”, Biggie continued as I stood up and paced around for some moments looking at nothing in particular. “Do you have any idea who is behind all these attacks?”, I asked Biggie who stood for some time staring at me. “Before, I would have said Mr. Lekan. But this is not how Mr. Lekan operates, plus…the attacks looks more coordinated and fierce. Meaning, there is a higher power behind it”, Biggie responded with his gaze on the window. “You said you captured all photo and video evidence at the accident scene right?”, I asked Biggie who nodded in the positive looking at Mr. James. “Everything is intact and all at the investigation room”, Biggie responded as I gave Mr. James a knowing look. “No…Thompson, don’t do this yet”, Mr. James began. “Don’t try to dissuade me, Isadora needs justice, Agnes needs justice and this country needs justice”, I replied Mr. James as I took the first step toward the door.
