Chapter 45 Back Home

The Paradise place of Atenowa lost in my eyesight. The world that I lived in disappeared. No more tricks, colorful lights that flickered at night every time I look outside of Atenowa. No more morning errands and no Lady Brume that always gives me a sharp look every time i didn’t follow her. Another thing that I will miss about was Lilith, who always gives me a reason to fight back with her. Many say that she was my rival.
My heart filled with sadness thinking that I could never back again to the place where I learned a lot about the magic and power that I have now.
I have a strange feeling in my heart and my heart beats like a drum as my feet clung to the place of Atenowa.
The laughter of the echoes in my heart brings a certain smile to my lips when I feel the familiar scent of the blast that touches my skin. The ordinary sounds of gasping of the laves gives glow to my facet and I am home.
Standing in the front of our house staring at the place that I’ve missed a lot. I grasp an air to breathe and I again wondered my gaze throughout the place. I felt sad as I watched the entire household, afraid to know the truth behind the walls with a heavy heart. My hands are shaking as I open the door. I step inside the balcony with a feeling of excitement. A joyful feeling I have in my chest knowing that I could see again my family. Especially my grandmother.
I couldn’t believe Lady Brume said that she was sick. In sixteen years of my existence, I never saw that she will be seriously ill. My Grandmother is one of the powerful witches of our clan. My heart trembling when I open the door. My tears flowed as I see my mother in front of me.
“Mother?”
I ran closer to her and embrace her tightly. Once again, I could feel her warm embrace and the caress of her hands in my hair. I could sense her longing for me.
“Thana, my child. How have you been?”
“I’m doing well, mother.”
Her hands touch my cheeks and wipe my tears.
“Is that a tear of joy?” I nodded and smile at her. She again touches my cheeks and caresses it. I close my eyes to feel her warm touch. That comforts me.
“You look good. I thank lady Brume for taking care of you.”
“Mother, your hands.” She suddenly wiped it away from me and hid it in her pocket.
“Why? Is there something wrong with my hands?”
“Its cold. No warm, are you okay?”
“Yes, I am fine. It’s just because of the cold weather.”
“Are you sure?”
She nodded at me and hugs me again tightly.
“Your magic? Have you lost your magic?” I asked her. My eyebrows raised because of the confusion.
“No. Of course not. I am great. Come - on, your grandma is waiting you.”
“Is she ill?” She didn’t answer me and went in the direction of my grandmother’s room. It surprises me when I see my grandmother looking good with a cheerful smile draws on her wrinkled face.
“Grand ma.”
She smells like a cherry blossom when it blooms in the winter.
“I’ve missed you. You were not feeling well, I thought.
“I’m good. Her face wrinkled in laughter as she said that she was getting old.
“I presumed you are fine now.”
“Of course. The most important is that I had seen you.
I’ve smiled at what she said and glared at my sight, at my Aunt Salina standing beneath the windowpane, looks anxious.
I felt that they hid something. It’s not a surprise for me. I knew it from the start. Since I was a kid, there’ are a lot of things they couldn’t explain to me.
After a long hour of staying in my grandmother’s room, I have noticed the black book that she always holding. It was placed in a box and it seems that the pages were turning into a yellow. I picked up the black book and open it. Suddenly, all the letters that were written slowly faded. In my astonishment, I left the book with my empty hands.
It fell to the floor and i and picked it up and returned it inside the box. The blares sound of wind rumble in my ears. I look outside the window to spot the mysterious sounds that abruptly come into my senses.
“Mia. I needed you.” Those are the words that slip to my lips. At this moment, I want to feel Mia, my guardian. I was wrong that I locked her in the bottle because of my selfishness.
I turn my gaze to my grandmother, who was laying down in the bed. Her face gets more wrinkled and the white golden hair turns into gray. I have noticed her pale color and her skin’s dryness. Even if she didn’t admit her illness, I could have seen her eyes, her weakness that she was trying to hide in her bitter smile.
I grab her hands and presses it.
“Grandma, tell me you will be alright.”
I wanted to feel her warm touch and to hear her voice nagging me all the time.
A single tear rolled down my cheek. Sadness blanket my whole being. I quickly wiped my tears as I heard the doorknob click and the door opens wide.
I stood from my seat when I see my mother entering carrying a tray of food. She gives a sweet smile and put the tray on the table. It surprises me by her acts. I never see her like this before, acting like an ordinary human.
Magic is part of their lives. She was wondering about her mother’s strange actions; she was suddenly worried and for Un explained reason she embraced her mother.
The tears welled up in her eyes, sobbing as her heart tremble because of the sadness she feels for her mother.
“Your magic? What happened to your magic?”
Her eyes narrowed in disbelief that her mother’s magic has gone. Allegra, speechless, not even say any a word. She didn’t know how to say to Thana about her magic. She just get upset and stooped her gaze out of the window, looking for phrases if how she will start telling Thana the whole thing.
