Chapter 46 The Sad Truth

"Mother? What happens to your magic?”
Thana shakes her head in disbelief. Her eyes narrow and raised her one eyebrow. She couldn’t understand how it was happening? Allegra, who was crying, burst into tears just stares Thana. She didn’t know how to explain to her, thinking if it was the right time to let her know the secret. She was afraid to reveal Thana’s true identity. How could she explain she was falling in love with a dark evil creature and the reason she losses her magic? How could she could explain to Thana that she is one of them?
“My magic was gone.”
Her world seemed to disappear when she heard those words from her mother.
“Tell me it’s not true.”
Allegra just shakes her head and a river of tears flows from her eyes.
“I’m sorry… I don’t want you all to suffer because of me.”
“No. It couldn’t be true.”
She steps backward and stays away from her mother. Everything that her mother had was gone.
She grabs Thana’s hand to let her stay. She needs to be brave in everything that is happening now. There is no one to blame but herself for being fragile and falling in love with another creature despite the forbidden law.
“Listen to me Thana. Please!”
“When was the magic were gone?”
“Its been a long time, before you entered Atenowa.”
Thana just stared at her mother. To her disbelief, she just hit the floor and looked at the emptiness. Allegra hugged her with all her sternness and cried out in her presence.
Magic is sacred in their witches. It gives life and strengthens them as individual. Loosing their power is the reason their body weakens and losing their witch’s craft and lead to death. Her tears were flowing like a rain. She didn’t know where the pain was coming from. She thought that witches like her didn’t feel hurt, but why did she feel this too many times? It was like a thorn that fringe her heart.
“What about Grandmother? What happened to her?”
Allegra choked and glances to her mother, Cordelia. Her hands were shaking and fear fluttered in her stomach. Her tears swept her eyes and dripped onto her face.
“She’s…” She paused a moment and bows her head, looking at the floor. She doesn’t have a courage to tell Thana about everything happens to her mother.
Thana heard footsteps approaching the door. Her palms were dancing in the air and the strong wind came out of her, palm causing the door broken and turn into pieces scattered in the place.
Something dumfounded her when a potent energy of wind bounces in her hands. To her surprise, she sees her Aunt Salina controlling the strong wind that coming out from her palm. The wind disappeared as she closes her palms.
“You learned a lot from Atenowa.” Aunt Salina smirked at her with a proud in her eyes. Thana just breathe and turn her gaze to her mother, who was sitting on the floor and crying.
“Sister….” Allegra raises her gaze when she hears the voice of Salina.
“Look at yourself… Pity creature!”
She wipes her tears and looks down. She can’t face Thana and even her sister Salina, only her cries are answered.
“Stand up Allegra. It is time to tell Thana.”
“What is it?” She pauses and thinks for a moment. She looks to her mother and turns to her Aunt Salina. What that she needed to know? Is it another secret that they want to hide again from her?
“Tell me, what is it?” Her head turning, as if looking for answers. She takes a deep breath and letting it out again slowly.
“Alright… I will ask you again. What is happening?’”
Her Aunt Salina looks at her grandmother and sight. She turns to Allegra, who was sitting on the floor looks nothing to herself.
“Allegra stands up.” Salina said.
She stands on the floor and faces Thana and Salina. Whether Thana’s reaction overwhelmed her, she had to deal with it. She needs to be brave and prepared for anything that will come her way.
“Your grandmother.” She turns to Thana and looks into her eyes. Her heart constrained in pain that she feel her breathing.
“What is it, mother?” Her chest tightens as if there’s a chain wrap around it.
“Are you is afraid to know Thana the truth?” Salina said. Her eyes burning like a fire, that penetrating Allegra’s body. There’s a powerful magic craft that surrounds the rooms.
“Thana forgive me.” Allegra's voice crackling.
“I don’t understand… Tell me what is happening?”
She tries to move closer to her mother and held her hands, but then Allegra steps backward to stay away from Thana.
“Listen to me.” She takes a deep breath before she utters a word.
“Your grandmother loses her magic in order to protect me.”
“No… It couldn’t be true.”
She turn her gaze to her grandmother who were laying in the bed. Her gray colored hair and wrinkled face that never noticed before as slowly appears.
“Accept it Thana. Her magic was gone because of me… Its all my fault.”
“You’re lying.”
“Its true.” Salina answered.
She walks beside Thana and slowly held her hands. She knows how bad her feeling of the sudden moments tortured her, adding to her grief that she hides from her eyes.
“What will happen to grandma?”
“I’m afraid that her body gets weaken and leads to death.”
She just shook her head and lay beside her grandmother. She touches her hand and hugs her. Allegra sits beside her and explains to her everything that happens.
“Its all my fault. She protects me from the dark, evil Lazarus.”
“Lazarus?”
Her eyes narrowed when she heard the familiar name. It recalls to her remembrance he was the one of the creature belongs to the dark evil who attacks Lucas. She gets up and faces her mother.
“Tell me about Lazarus. Who is he?”
A horizontal wrinkles appear on her forehead. No words slip from her lips as if it locked to not to speak a single word. How could she say to Thana that Lazarus was her biological father? She was afraid that Thana can’t accept her real identity.
