5 kilometers away from the hospital, Hades randomly pulled up at the park which brought Gina's gaze on him– she was scanning out of the window; appreciating the night view when the sudden halt caught her attention. For a moment, silence engulfed them. Gina's furrowed gaze remained fixed on him as he stared , not focusing on anything in particular. His eyes burned with rage– his expression hardened. The thought of the incident at the hospital just sent his blood boiling; a vein popped out in his neck. On noticing his displeasure, Gina decided to break the silence. “ Hey...” She called, drawing his attention in the process. “... I know you're still upset about what happened earlier but can you just let it go?– please.” Her eyes pleaded. “ I know you felt bad and truly, that wasn't the best way she hopped on but then let's try to understand her as a mother, okay?– She acted out of distress without a second thought, huh." She continued to drum home her point with Hades gaze still fixed. “ Why on earth should it be her again?~ why Miriam and not any other person?” The question just popped out when he finally opened up. “...what's the connection between us and her, huh?– I just want to know. I fell there's more to this than what met the eye.” This instinctively dawned a reminder on her– what's the reason behind her mother's sudden behavior on hearing Miriam's name and the sudden reproach afterward. She needed to find out on her own since her mother refused to dig any further no matter how hard she goes on her. “ Exactly, my thought... and I so long to know this after my mother's wired behavior but she refused to say anything” She expressed on an impulse. “ It seems there's more to it which I'm missing– I need a favor from you. Can I?” She asked, suddenly grabbing onto his arms which got him puzzled for a brief second but soon recovered with a composed look. “ Alright, what could that be, if I may ask.” “ Help me dig into my mother's secret...Will you?” She asked in a single breath which got Hades confused for a moment. “ Your mother's secret?” He asked~his eyes widened in surprise which soon narrowed as he scanned at her. “ Are you serious about this?... what will you get from that?” His brows furrowed. “ The answers which kept hunting me.” She said without a second thought. A brief chuckle intuitively escaped his lips which he spontaneously zipped it in on noticing the look on her face. She seemed serious and determined about the whole thing. “ You know the consequences when she finds out, right,” He asked and she nodded without hesitation. “ ... and are you ready to bear the outcome?” “ Yes...” She said with a nod. “...I'm ever ready for it. Just help me out with this, huh?”. On second thought, he nodded, giving her his word. “ Okay, I'm in then– if that will make you feel at ease...Let's go for it!” He chanted and she smiled. “ Thanks a lot, dear.” She said and pecked his cheeks. “ Can we go now?” She asked and he nodded. Soon, they were back on the street again. DOCTOR 'S OFFICE “ Can we go see her?” Jane asked after the doctor had made know his observations and advice. “ Sure you can...since she's out of danger now, there's nothing much to worry about.” The doctor answered with a smile. “ All she needs now is enough rest, probably she might be discharged tomorrow if nothing new comes up.” “Thanks, a lot doctor~ we appreciate your kind gesture and all. We'll take our leave now.” Mr. Parker announced. With this, they sauntered out of the office and hurried off towards Miriam's ward. A few steps down the corridor, they halted in front of one of the wards with the plate number, 268 – it was a private one with only Miriam in. Jane was the first to head in before anyone else– her devastating gaze briefly flashed a smile on noticing her daughter sound asleep; her pale face half-covered with an oxygen mask with tubes running through her veins. “ Oh, my baby..." She cried as she took her hand in hers. “ ... tell me, love. What exactly happened to you. Huh?– Mum was so worried about you.” “ Get yourself together, honey– you heard the doctor. She still needs rest to recover soon. She can brief us on the cause later when she wakes up, okay? ” Parker reasoned which calmed Jane for some reason. Getting Miriam's condition worse was the least she wanted at the moment. THE PARKER'S COMPANY It was well past 9 pm with almost everyone going, except Nina and a few workers who were also getting ready to leave but not Nina. She seemed lost in herself, her gaze just scanning into space. The morning's incident had gotten her all worked up. Gina was one who never backed down on her words but her finding out the truth behind her birth and Miriam wasn't one Nina would like to let out of the bag– that will mean a monstrous disaster. “ Should I tell Mr. Parker about this? ” Her thought verbalized but on second thought, she objected to the idea. “ No... I should be able to handle this on my own.” She said but on an impulse, she wondered. “ Wait, what if I couldn't... It might be too late– No, I guess I should do so now.” Nina without a minute, reached for her phone which was right next to her laptop. Scanning through a few list, she dialed his line. It rang with every dial but then no response. “ Why is he not answering– Is everything alright?” She mumbled, still lost in thought that she didn't notice his presence. “ Good evening, ma'am” He greeted to which she flinched with a jolt– a scream escaped her lips as she jerked off her seat. “ Goodness, Sam...” She cried on noticing him. “~ you scared the very daylight put of me.” Nina lamented. “ I'm sorry, Ma'am... I didn't mean to startle you.” He pleaded. “ I was about to knock when I notice the door already open so came in.” “ It's okay... no need to." She said, catching on her breath as she settled back in her seat. Sam was the new engineer who took over from the previous one who resigned a month ago. “ So, tell me... what brought you here. It's already past closing hours.” “ Well, I just came to drop these documents for your signature to enable me to clear the arrived goods from the port this dawn– Sorry for barging into your office like this because of that.” “ No need to apologize, Sam. I didn't get your info but don't get worked out over it. Let me check them now.” Stretching out her hands for the documents, he dropped them in. Within a brief moment, she was all done. “ Here you go... over to you now go work on it.” After that, she packed up her documents and headed off home with the thought to just handle everything on her own in the best way she can without involving Parker. ************* Hades eventually approached Gina's house and in a few gates ahead, he pulled up at hers. Looking out at the gate, he smiled. “ We're here now, Miss– at your destination. You're all good to go now.” He teased and she chuckled with a nod. Her lips slightly twisted. “ Thanks, Mr chauffeur... you did a great job today. Have a great ride home.” She added and they both laughed. “ Anyway, thanks a lot, dear. ” Gina smiled and he nodded to which she gathered her stuff and turned the door open. Just when she was about to step down, he called again which made her pause, turning halfway towards him. “ Try to make peace with your mum so she won't have any clue of our plan. If you keep avoiding her she might act fast to cover what she had been hiding, okay?” “Okay I get it. I will try my possible best to work things out with her– if it's going to help why not .” “ I trust you on it, enjoy your evening– I'll pick you up at 8 am tomorrow. Need to catch up with something now.” “ Okay, then take care of yourself, bye.” With a wave, she watched his tail light disappear in the distance before going in.
