Chapter 6 AN ENEMY!

Blue sighed when the bell rang for the close of the day. She stood up, packed up the rest of her books, and placed them in her bags. She should go home now, school hasn't been all great to her, she thought.
Freya joined her, and they both started down the long corridor to the school's park. "My mum is coming over to pick me up. Care to join us? We will drop you home." Freya told her.
"No, thank you. My boyfriend is taking me home in his car," Blue told her.
Freya pouted, then scoffed. "Now, look who is shaming me for not having a boyfriend."
Blue laughed at that.
"You will be alright. Stop thinking about what Mr Blink said to you about your grades. I'll help you with biology," Freya assured her.
Blue smiled at that, then embraced her friend. "Thanks, Freya."
Freya patted her friend's back. "I'm your friend, remember? So, keep your mind at ease," Freya said.
A grey Honda car roared into life and they both turned instantly in its direction. It was parked on the side and walk, and a young woman sat behind the wheel, waving her hand at them. They waved back at her and Freya rushed up to join her mother.
When the car began to move, Blue waved Freya goodbye. Thereafter, Blue stood patiently, biting her lower lip as her eyes scanned the park waiting for her boyfriend. Finally, she saw him in his bright Auburn trousers and cream shirt, walking briskly towards her. He pulled her in for a kiss, pecked her on th,e cheek, and smiled down sweetly at her.
She felt nervous, they had never been this intimate in school. He was her boyfriend for crying out loud! Why should she be nervous and wary of other students watching them?
"So sorry that I kept you waiting," he apologized.
"What about your car?" She asked, concerned, taking a swirl to look around.
"I really can't explain what's happened to it. It broke down this morning. So, I left it at Saint V's....,"
"Saint V's?" She interrupted him, surprised.
"Yes, you know, Saint V's? The mechanic workshop?" He had to ask.
"Em... I'm not acquainted with it." She laughed it off, regretting why she had stopped to ask him. She had never seen Saint V's, she had only heard about it, the rich folks go there to repair their cars.
"Then I drove down here to school in Joab's car." He continued, taking her school bag off her shoulders carefully. "You must be exhausted, look at your face. How did your classes go?" He asked her, peering down into her eyes.
"Not so great," she tried a smile. "Who's Joab?"
"My friend, you met him at the court, remember? You will recognize him once you see him." He told her.
Joab indeed drove in that instant towards them in a blue Porsche. He was cool and he wore flashy sunglasses.
"Hey, pretty girl. Didn't know you would be riding with us." Joab grinned at her after he had winded down the front window of the car.
Blue smiled at him. She tried to enter the front seat but Hanson stopped her, giving her back her school bag.
"Go to the back seat. Let me take the front seat." He winked at her.
Blue was puzzled at that. Where did all his cheesy love for her go to? He just tossed her like she was some other girl. He should at least let her sit in the front.
Joab tuned into a station on the radio playing hip-hop as he started the car when everyone was finally settled.
"Hold on a sec, my brother is coming too. I just got a text from him." Hanson touched Joab's arm as he looked down at his phone.
"Your brother?" Blue asked, surprised from the backseat, then to Hanson, she said. "You didn't tell me that you have a brother."
"You never asked." Hanson shrugged.
Blue's brows rose skeptically. What was wrong with Hanson? Why was he giving her some kind of odd vibes?
A black-headed, tall boy with a black bag swung over his shoulder and opened the back door. When he entered the backseat, he froze when he saw Blue.
Blue too, was shocked when she recognized him.
"Why is she here?" He asked the boys in the front seat.
"You know her?" Joab asked as he turned on the ignition.
"Yes, some girl with no class." He eyed her disdainfully.
Blue shot him a gnarl when she heard that. "You don't just talk like a running tap." She had to speak up.
"Oh great! You've met her already. That's Blue Nane, my girlfriend. Don't be rude to her now, Jason." Hanson warned, looking over behind him.
"Girlfriend!" Jason bawled as he looked away, distraught by the depressing news. "Are there no more eligible babes more worthy of that?" He looked back at his brother.
The whole place went still for a split second.
"Jason!" Both Joab and Hanson called out in surprise.
"I'm sorry to say but your taste in girls is wack," Jason said as he shot Blue another dirty look.
"Jason! Another word from that mouth of yours, and I'll certainly make sure to bruise your lips and drop you off by the roadside." Hanson shot his brother a warning stare.
Jason looked away, he shoved the rest of Blue's skirt which reached out to where he sat. He pushed himself farther away so his body wouldn't touch Blue's.
"How can a girl be called Blue? Such a stupid name." He muttered to which Blue heard.
Blue looked down at herself as if she was indeed dirty. She folded her skirt away from his reach and kept her auburn skirt from touching Jason. Everything about Jason exuded pride and insult. Blue hated him right at that moment. He had not had any conversation with her, that he hated her this much. She too does hate him. He was hefty as well as proud. He was such a snob!
"Drop me at the next bus stop, please," Blue said politely.
Hanson turned to look at her. "Why are you dropping at the next bus?" He questioned.
"I....just ......I want....," She had to think of a possible lie. "I want to get some items by the mall," Blue answered.
"But we already passed by Victoria's mall some minutes ago. Or what other mall are you talking about?" Hanson asked, concern written on his face.
Blue was speechless. Who had the money to shop in Victoria's mall? That was a place for the high, rich, and capable. Hanson knew about that, why was he asking her a question he knew the answer to?
"She doesn't want me to know where she lives, I guess." Jason snorted to which Joab scoffed.
Hanson folded his lips in anger. His fist followed suit. Then, he turned back to his girlfriend with a smile. "Babe, please let me drop you home, hmm? There is no cause for alarm." Hanson said to her, his eyes were pleading with her.
Blue nodded reluctantly.
When they finally dropped her home in an urban area, the streets were tarred. Hanson had to grin to himself. He thought she lived in rural surroundings. He came down with her.
"I can go home from here." She avoided his eyes as she wore her school bag.
Hanson pulled her in, tilting her chin up to look at him. "I'm sorry about Jason." He said.
She managed a smile.
"He's usually not like that." He added.
"Was that why you never told me about him?"
"No, no, no. You never asked about my family, you know." He noticed the scowl on her face. "Okay, I'm sorry that I never told you about my brother and the rest of my family." He took both of her hands in an apology.
He glanced back at the Porsche behind them and waved back at Joab to be patient. "Okay. Let me make it up to you. My family is having a Thanksgiving dinner next week on Sunday. I want you to come around and get to meet them. You will love my mum." He beamed pleasantly.
"Really?"
"Of course. My parents would both love you though, including Jason. He is just being paranoid today." Hanson told her.
She grinned at him and nodded. "I will come." She said.
"That's my girl." He smiled at her. "I have to go now, babe. I will see you in school tomorrow." He leaned in and gave her a sharp, firm kiss on the lips, then walked back to the car.
