Chapter 16 His Silence
Siera wishes that the kingdom's contention would gradually improve and that they might quickly solve the murder case and uncover the true perpetrator, relieving the strain on her husband's shoulders. But, however, nothing mended and everything got worse. The king learns that a person he assigned to the northern frontier to communicate with the chief of Daekrahm Village has been killed by the people. It's a clear answer that they don't want peace and are refusing the King's assistance in improving the village's living conditions. The story of the innocent farmer being killed while carrying out the king's orders went around the capital, infuriating both civilians and nobles. They believe that the King purposefully allowed innocent people to be slain in vain by the savage rural people of Daekrahm simply because he was a peasant with no authority in the realm. They vilified the monarch for sacrificing innocent lives in order to embrace those who openly refused to accept the care he provided. Gwi felt even more trapped and guilty as a result of this scenario. He had no idea such a horrific tragedy would occur. Why did nothing go right under his leadership? Gwi orders his trusty warriors to fetch the bodies of the farmers slaughtered in Daekrahm and bury them in a memorial ceremony attended directly by himself and Siera. He saw the innocent peasant's face for the last time, and there were so many wounds on his body that were obvious signs of the cruelty the body's owner had experienced. With a heavy heart, he saw the farmer's family cry uncontrollably as they let go of his departure. The King's heart was broken by all he saw. Gwi really wants to cry right now. But he is the king of his kingdom, the ruler of this land. He couldn't expose his frailty in front of those who had entrusted their lives to him. If he perishes along with his territory, what will become of all those who serve him? He made every effort to flaunt his face in front of everyone. Siera, who was standing next to Gwi at the time, knew exactly what was going on in her husband's heart. She is fully aware that Gwi is a man with a loving and kind heart who adores his people. Seeing all the disasters in this realm must have made Gwi feel guilty and broke his heart. The queen also felt terrible because she was the one who suggested to Gwi that the farmer be sent to Daekhram. She had no idea that the situation in the village was far worse than they had imagined. The guilt in their hearts forced Siera and Gwi to keep silent in their carriage on the way back to the palace. Siera occasionally glances at the king's face to check his expression. His expression is dark and frustrated. It hurt her very much to watch the king of her heart in his despair. She knows very well that Gwi had kept his tears from falling down. Siera extends her hair and interlocks their fingers together. She strokes his hand with her thumb. "Gwi, I honestly don't know what to say in this situation. With this current circumstance, telling you that everything will be fine sounds quite difficult. But I want you to know that I will always be here for you," the queen says, seeking to take some of the weight off his shoulders and encouraging the king to rely on her as well. Gwi, on the other hand, says nothing and does not look in her direction. It appears that his breakdown is so bad that he becomes lost in his own thoughts. When they arrived at the palace and the carriage came to a halt, Gwi took off his hand from Siera, which surprised the queen. He would never disregard and refuse her in that manner. "We have arrived," replied the king, opening the carriage door and leaving Siera behind. Gwi's strange demeanor astounded not only the queen but also their servant. The king would generally wait for Siera and assist her in disembarking from the carriage, despite the fact that she is more capable of doing so on her own. He always does this not to aid Siera, but to show her how valuable she is to him. He always treated her with great compassion. Today, though, the king does not even return her gaze. "Don't follow me," the monarch orders his secretary, who has been following him since Gwi got out of the vehicles. He wants to be alone and work on his convoluted thinking. Lyn, on the other hand, witnesses Gwi getting out of the carriage and ordering his secretary to leave him. She notices that his expression is not pleasant. She decided to stealthily follow him from a safe distance so he wouldn't see her.
